Well... that seems to be a counter-example to the theory that prior experience with SE makes for better users.
Of course, N=1 here, so there's no reason to dismiss the theory yet.

Q: I need to know this! 😱

WiFIREI was trying to make a simple exploit for a game and it also relys on a batch file. The batch file needs to verify that the game process is running. How can I do this? (Without any add-ons)

Is there any data that suggests our Hot Network Questions draw users to the smaller SE sites, and turn them into good contributors?
I'm asking because I'm working on a Meta.SE question about drawing new users to our smaller sites.

@UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE users.push(this)

@S.L.Barth 'and turn them into good contributors?' part I dunno, but since I sometimes find out that a site exists solely by seeing a HNQ, then prolly yes.

@S.L.Barth Nah, just attracts bad answers and snarky comments from LRiO.

@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Yes, but you're already familiar with the SE model.
Ah, Lightness. Yes, I know him (or her).

user259867
There is no data on anything about HNQ. SE doesn't even track which questions were featured as HNQ.

@S.L.Barth Him. And I used to think highly of him.

Vague question detected. :) But seriously, I don't suppose so. New users want a specific thing: an answer to their question. Their question is what they want to know about, not the SE network.

> More striking are the outliers who edit, vote (with the help of an association bonus for being active on another site) or visit the site many consecutive days before posting. These folks do far better with their first posts and (with the exception of Enthusiasts) have much more productive careers.

The fact that people who already have an association bonus do better on a new site... well, that is hardly surprising.

Although to be fair, I'm still trying a few things out now.

A: CardboardView does not have the right size

S.L.
