What should I do for posts like stackoverflow.com/review/low-quality-posts/6879057? They answer the question, and the question is the problem.... so looks ok?

skip if not sure

@bluet ... that's not an answer to the question.

user259867
@hichris123 The OP says it doesn't actually answer the question. Also, the flag could be VLQ instead of NAA, which I take as "tried to answer, did not succeed".

user259867
(My practice on math is to delete unless there is a good reason to keep, but that's just me.)

@JanDvorak I know, right?

Yeah, I know.

@bjb obviously needs to read this:
Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury published in 1953. It is regarded as one of his best works. The novel presents a future American society where books are outlawed and "firemen" burn any that are found. The title refers to the temperature that Bradbury understood to be the autoignition point of paper. The novel has been the subject of interpretations primarily focusing on the historical role of book burning in suppressing dissenting ideas. In a 1956 radio interview, Bradbury stated that he wrote Fahrenheit 451 because of his concerns at the time (during the McCarthy era) about...

You should also read the Gone series by Michael Grant. (I read it a few years ago, so my memory of it is a bit fuzzy, but I do remember really liking it.)

I like knowing though that I read series before they were cool. I read the Divergent books a couple years back (4?) and the Hunger Games books around the same time.

Robert Cartaino on September 29, 2010

Stack Exchange is about questions with objective, factual answers. We’ve been crystal clear about this for as long as I can remember, even back to the earliest, pre-beta days of Stack Overflow. It’s right there in the standard Stack Exchange FAQ:

What kind of questions should I not ask here?

Avoid asking questions that are subjective, argumentative, or require extended discussion. This is not a discussion board, this is a place for questions that can be answered!

Thus, questions that are not answerable — discussions, debates, opinions — should be closed as subjective. It seems simple enough: Fact good; opinion and discussion bad. But why? …

> The folks at Moms4mom owned up to the subjective issue and came up with a set of principles to create useful subjective discussions on parenting: the Back It Up! Principle. Back It Up! means that your answers must be based on either:

Something that happened to you personally
Something you can back up with a reference
They talk about how “opinion, by itself, is noise.” They’re not saying that subjective opinions are to be avoided; they’re attempting to mold and shape their inherently subjective Q&A into something constructive, informative and helpful. As it turns out, there is an entire f

Sounds like how many of the other sites operate: e.g. science fiction requires canon.

15

Good Subjective, Bad Subjective refers to the Back It Up principle that was developed on an early SE site. I've seen this principle in use on UX (though I can't find an example right now), and citing sources or experience is standard on Mi Yodeya. Backing up an answer includes citing sources,...

@SuperstarGamer "this mostly has to do with JAVA networking" - Firstly, nothing about your question even lightly hints of anything to do with Java, the programming language, and I'm pretty sure JAVA is not a separate language. To continue, with no (research / attempt) effort shown at all, this does not fit into our standards of questions on the site as defined by the tour. And finally, your question is ambiguous, it's really hard to tell what you're asking for (even after my edit), and hence voted to close. — Unihedro just now
