Q: VLQ Review queue Recommend Deletion description

David GrinbergThe description for Recommend Deletion action in the VLQ review queue is pretty silly: Recommend Deletion to recommend that this answer be deleted A new user can figure that out on their own. Can we change this to some more descriptive like the other actions have? For example: Recommend...

I did see before :) have to add a mark, deletion will be possible in 2 days

@bjb568 to be fair, only non-robo reviewers would ever read the tooltip. You have to wait like what, a whole 3 seconds for it to pop up? screw that

Default, unless you close it manually.

@Sompuperoo Pretty sure it's client side.
I just spammed the thing, it didn't take any time at all.
And once you close it, it will never expand again, so you won't be able to see which Off Topic reason the review task is under.

user259867
If your first step is 1 meter, second is 1/2 meters, third is 1/3 meters, and so on... you will walk infinitely far.

user259867
But if you turn to your right (90 degrees) after each step... you will never be more than 2 meters away from your starting point.

user259867
(that was your random math fact of the day)

Well, isn't that common sense?
1/n just feels slow enough of decay that it'll diverge.

@bjb568 ? think you mean jslint, jshint is a nice friend who barely ever complains

1:29 AM
But durr if you're turning, you're spiraling.

user259867
You can still imagine spiraling out to infinity.

@Sompuperoo It complains when I do if (whatever) return whatever;
@Behaviour No, spiraling in.
Each step is shorter.
It makes no sense to spiral out to infinity with decreasing lengths when it's just tau/4 angles.

@Behaviour You can't really walk 1/1000000000 of a meter, though.

user259867
Right, spiraling in to some point. I'll have to draw this.

@hichris123 Math is more pure than physics things.

1:31 AM
@bjb568 It's theoretically possible, but in actuality impossible.

Yes

user259867
Unless you are walking your spherical dog on a weightless inextensible leash.

@Behaviour Makes me think about Gravity

I love spherical dogs.
Way less annoying.

1:40 AM
Yup.
Looks more like torus tho.

I miss having a dog :/
They're such little derps

user259867

user259867
^ This is what I actually meant. Each step is 1/n, and at right angle to the radius-vector from the origin.

user259867
Not from the direction of the previous step, as I said by mistake.

user259867
So the path has infinite length, is spiraling out, but will never leave the circle of radius 2 around the origin.

user259867
IMO, NAAs don't really require a Blaze-type bot; since there is no urgent need to kill them, one can run whatever logic on SO weekly data in SEDE.

@Behaviour But... free flags! Flag weight!

user259867
2:34 AM
NAA flags don't have that much cumulative effect; one is usually enough. And there is no flag weight anymore.

Net flags (helpful - declined) still progress on expanding your daily flag cap until you have the max of 100.

@Behaviour I'd run off of a data dump.

user259867
But that one is updated like... once a year.

@Behaviour Few months, to be more specific. But you can run it locally.

@Behaviour Ha, guess what, happy new year.

user259867
2:36 AM
Hm, how many non-deleted answers does SO get per week? I think it may be under 50000, so the weekly dose may be downloadable from SEDE.

We can find out by doing experiments and applying basic maths.

user259867
(even if it isn't, it's not hard to split the week into two halves and download separately)

Eek! Users are gaming flags from the LQRQ :/
@Luke - I apologize for the harsh wording on the decline reason, but we've seen a few people lately using flags from within the Low Quality Posts review queue to game helpful flags. We saw a number of flags that you had left immediately before you voted to delete posts, and it looked like that's what you were trying to do here. If it was merely a misunderstanding as to the purpose of flags, I'm sorry about the warning in the flag response. — Brad Larson ♦ 9 hours ago

@InfiniteSnowflakes Is it even possible to flag a post as NAA then also vote to delete it?
i thought that would make you ineligible to review it
if not it should..

Or just unbork NAA/VLQ completely and clarify the use of other flags!

I don't know if it's possible, it never asked me to review anything which I flagged.

6:13 AM
@Servy allowing a user to simultaneously flag and recommend deletion is simply a bug, known and admitted by SE team. Other than that, there is nothing conceptually wrong when user picks one (not both) of either re-flag or recommend deletion, just for the reasons I laid out in prior comment — gnat 9 hours ago
