Interviews where they ask me CS questions make me sad

hi, is anyone else having problems editing answers - keeps giving me a error

@AnnaLear Eh?
Well, I guess it's fair in the sense that Jeremy deleted his question for some reason, but it was a dupe of this other question anyway. :P

7:09 AM
@Shog9 - ok, Flag can trigger a post to appear in the Low quality queue. But in this case it was already there (one row of text - a comment to another answer from a new 1rep user). Since I have flagged it as "not an answer/move to comment" what should I do when I get it in the low quality list? Delete doesn't apply - if I wanted to delete I wouldn't have flagged it. At the same time I can't say "looks good"... What to click?
If you have already reviewed an item all other queues show the "I am done" button by default. On the low quality queue that button does not exist. What to do then? Also - should a flag that suggest to turn an answer in a comment "advertise" the same item in the queue of the "Please delete me"'?? O_o
Hi - any mod online?

anyone online who can help with a login id question?

What's your question, @rcook? There's no way to know if we can help until we know what your question is =)
@SPA If you have flagged an answer as "not an answer / move to comment", it sounds like you do want it to be deleted. I'm confused about the distinction you're making.

2:24 PM
@jadarnel27 if a 2k user post a comment as an answer I would kill it with no hesitation. If a new 1rep user post an answer in place of a comment I would prefer to savage it. If I vote to delete the answer will disappear. I flag so that a mod can decide if it can be moved to a comment on the most appropriate answer.
if I wanted it to simply disappear, I would just vote for deletion. I raise a flag when I feel that the post should just be moved
probably the low traffic on SharePoint contribute to my view
I can believe that on the main stack site there are so many "not answer" answer that it is preferred to delete them instead of moving
@jadarnel27 - Does the above make my mind clearer? That was the difference between flag and vote. Votes just delete, flags can move.

@SPArchaeologist "savage" was an unfortunate typo

It made me laugh, so I would contest "unfortunate".

@SPArchaeologist If it's not an answer, you should probably select delete. If it's so good that losing it entirely would be a problem, then select "looks good". A specific example would probably help here, but... New users aren't allowed to comment because we want to encourage them to post answers - converting their answers to comments is counter-productive there!

@SPA Yes, you're explanation is helpful. I'm not sure I see the merit in moving such answers to comments unless they are pretty useful. But I understand where you're coming from.

@MichaelMrozek noticed. The spellcheck feature in ie10 is good... until it goes in t9 mode and starts to turn one word in another that means the opposite ^_^
@Shog9 - I can try to fetch a link. Anyway I am referring to the common situation of a new user asking a question, receiving an answer and then posting a comment for asking a minor clarification. I would use the flag to ask the answer to be moved to a comment. Isn't this a good thing? ok for deleting bad content, but here I talk about users with no other way to ask a clarification.

2:51 PM
@SPArchaeologist Wait - anyone can post comments on answers to their own questions, regardless of their reputation. If they're posting answers instead, that's because they're confused, not because the system forces them to. If you opt to delete, there's even a canned comment explaining this that you can choose.

@TimStone the original got deleted by the asker

Right, now it's a dupe of the same question the deleted one was (it just got deleted before it was closed).

@TimStone link? I didn't notice that.

Q: Massively downvoted questions are still missing from the list of questions

blahdiblahThe last page of the list of questions on Meta is currently this question that has a score of -55. Missing from the bottom of the list are: -84 Evaluating the risks of allowing teen moderators on the SE network [closed] -90 “Forced” retirement for top users -118 Don't close questions where the...

3:18 PM
@Shog9 - They have to comment on an answer of another user in their question. That is not possible as far as I know right? You can comment on YOUR posts, not an answer to your question. That said - if I miss understood and you can do that good, if you can't ... consider changing it so that you can - it would resolve many problem.

@TimStone Closed. Thanks. :)

Hooray! And thank you :)

@SPArchaeologist No, if you ask a Q, even at 1 rep, you can comment on any post on that page.

@MarcGravell: What's with the reputation bugs at the moment?
If I get downvoted, then the downvote is undone, I see off-by-two errors the rest of the day.
If I then downvote a post, and hit the cap again, it's off-by-one.
A recalc helps, but I can do that only once a day.

user206222
@MartijnPieters You don't lose an insane amount of rep from a recalc?

Why would I?

user206222
Iunno. I've heard of several people who were losing hundreds of rep by recalcs. Maybe it's not that bad anymore.

That's been fixed for a while now; it used to be that post deletion reputation loss was delayed, I think.

user206222
Ahh, okay. Must not have been around when they fixed it.

Q: Recent Reputation History Changes

Nick CraverUpdate: This has been rolled out to all sites in the network. Behind the scenes we've been hard at work making some changes to how we track reputation. Here are some of the issues we're aiming to address with these changes: Reputation Skew (your actual reputation doesn't match what's shown)...

user206222
Hmm, okay. Interesting.

@NickCraver: judging by that post, it's really you I should poke about rep skew. :-)
@NickCraver: see chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/transcript/message/1347552#1347552 for my inquiry to Marc.

6:33 PM
i am sure you may want to delete some account bugmenot.com/view/stackoverflow.com

user206222
@NullPonyPointer I just tried a couple of those, and it looks like they're suspended until 2026.

user206222
and/or have been deleted

only this one is exist yet .... yes but suspended

6:54 PM
> -725 13 mins ago removed Why does i|= j|= k|= (j+= i) - - (k+++k) - - (i =+j) == 11?

ouch

Aaargh, couldn't they have waited two months?
The evil thing is, I'm not even sure it should have been deleted at all.

user206222
Aww, I liked that question.

you can vote to undelete it if you have enough rep - it was not deleted by a moderator
kind of funny that the first close vote was from the asker himself

user206222
I guess they didn't want an excess of downvotes?

6:57 PM
@Telthien No, it wasn't that, Jeremy didn't vote to delete it even.
He posted it as a pick on that kind of questions, "What does this obscure code mean?"

7:17 PM
Who deleted it, @Daniel?

> deleted by Asad, nneonneo, John Saunders, marc_s 38 mins ago

user206222
I feel bad reopening it, though, since it'll likely attract more downvotes.

Ah, well, the question was at +30/-67, so Jeremy lost net rep from the deletion ;)

user206222
ahahah that's ironic

(Unless the rep-cap intervened)

7:20 PM
@Telthien Don't worry, Jeremy likes the downvotes =)
He was just complaining in here the other day that he couldn't catch up with the lowest scored non deleted question on SO.

user206222
what's the lowest scored question, incl. deleted?

7:38 PM
@MartijnPieters I'm not aware of any such
maybe log on meta with whatever detail you can remember

So for the time being, it's undeleted again (@Telthien: Jeremy cast the second undelete vote). I wonder whether it'll last.

I possess, in my hands, a calculator which can compute fourier series up to the 15th order. I use it to play pokemon.

@MarcGravell: I will; my score today is -1 what it should be.
@MarcGravell: and the topbar score keeps showing 1 point to low as well, until I get another +15, after which the score is correct until I refresh the page again.
no time right now, tomorrow perhaps.
It'll all be back to the correct score tomorrow, of course.

I wonder if StackOverflow's going to hit 5M questions at the same time Meta hits 50,000.

11:06 PM
@Telthien SO is at 5.5mil already if you count deleted questions.
@doorknob Don't thank me, thank Nick Craver :)

@AnnaLear: I think of you everyday when printing ballots, because the example name in the instructions to the voters is Ann, with the pencil at the bottom of the "n" like it was just written, and my mind just like fills in the rest. Haha.

@animuson That's a little creepy, but it could be worse. ;)

I don't know anyone else whose name starts with Ann. :P

Okay, that makes it a little better. :)

Artificial neural network?

@Telthien Oh come on, don't give away all my secrets...
