@Rob doesn't appear to be from imgur, or even dynamic. From what I can see it just takes random image hosted on the site itself, e.g. pointerpointer.com/images/615.jpg
What 7 digits? Where you see such things?

@ShadowWizardWearingMask yes

I just wanted to ask a question on a site, and didn't know that I had to finish the signup or I'd be locked out of my other accounts.

Yeah.
More like, I became a guest.

You should be able to register, then it should auto merge.

?

Worst case, ask for a manual merge.

Q: How can one link / merge / combine / associate two accounts / users? (Anonymous / unregistered / cookie, or Google / Facebook / registered)

pauldunlopI accidentally posted a question without being logged in. Is there a way to associate that question with my account? Return to FAQ Index For more information, visit "I accidentally created two accounts; how do I merge them?" in the Help Center. a.k.a. How can you link a registered accoun...

It's all here ^

I mean I didn't want to join a site, I only wanted to ask a question. But after I asked it, I'm forced to join.

@AnnZen Forced how?

i mean
By participating there, you're a part of it

@Rubiksmoose I can't log into my existing accounts, I keep getting: finish signup

@AnnZen I wonder if it is a cookie/cache thing. That's how unregistered users are kept "logged in" IIRC. Try clearing those and see if it helps

@AnnZen clear you cookies and you should be able to use your ordinary logins. But you won't be able to edit/delete whatever you posted as a guest.

8:21 PM
?
I already joined, otherwise, I wouldn't be chatting right now.

Next time when you want to post as a guest and don't intend to ever get back to it, do it with Incognito mode of your browser.

@Rubiksmoose I can't log into my existing accounts, I keep getting: finish signup
I'm confused what this means then. If you can't login, how are you here?

@AnnZen Right, that is what inspired my question. What do you mean by "I can't log into my existing accounts" when you've demonstrated that you can indeed log into one of your accounts at least.

I'm just incredibly confused by what the issue is...

What were you trying to do
Ask a question on a network you weren't previously a member of?
ask a question on a network you were already a member of?
ask a question anonymously?

@Rubiksmoose I mean, I didn't want to join a site, but I found I had no choice, so I joined. Now, I am bringing up the issue to see if that was the intended behavior.
@user400654 this

@AnnZen When you try to do a guest posting on a site, it will put something in the local storage of your browser to help you log back in for a time until you register or it gets lost. Assuming you did this in your primary window, in order to log in to your normal accounts in the same window/device you have to clear this cookie/cache before you can do that.
The sites aren't built for easy switching of accounts, because the assumption is that each person only has one.
And even guest posting still creates an account of sorts.
@Rubiksmoose or you can register which will merge it with your existing account with that email, which seems like what you did.

so i could've logged in without signing up using a different window, right?

you could have "joined" the network

8:32 PM
Different browser session.

using the account you were already logged into

@AnnZen If you used an icognito or guest browser you could just switch to a new window or session.

at which point you would have received 100 rep and been able to ask from this acct

@user400654 i have
@Rubiksmoose oh

But now you know!

Q: Posting as guest prevents signing in with different email address

TheEspinosaI didn't have my login credentials available on a laptop, so I posted an answer as guest using a different mail address than what I used to register at Stack Exchange. Later I decided to reset my password and wanted to log-in with my account to a different Stack Exchange community. However, inst...

By design.

I'm still at 1 rep...

how did you join the network before asking?

I'm wearing shorts...
(if it's time for some facts... ;))

If you were logged in elsewhere, there would have been a "Join this Community" button, which would create an account there and link it to your overall account

Am I getting my rep back?

Q: After my suspension period, my reputation was not returned

Arpit KulshresthaOn Stack Overflow, I have a suspension period of 7 days which ends today. But my actual reputation has not been returned to me as one of the moderators said it would. I have a message like this by @Andrew Barber: Once your suspension period is over, you will be returned to your correct repu...

"Somebody else's problem" (also "someone else's problem") is a phrase used to describe an issue which is dismissed by a person on the grounds that they consider somebody else to be responsible for it. The term is also used to refer to a factor that is "out of scope" in a particular context. == Douglas Adams == Douglas Adams's 1982 novel Life, the Universe and Everything (in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy comedy science fiction series) introduces the idea of an "SEP field" as a kind of cloaking device. The character Ford Prefect says, An SEP is something we can't see, or don't see, or our...

@ShadowWizardWearingMask hopefully not blue. 😢

@Rob actually... it is blue. rofl
But dark blue.
I have only two pairs, exact same shorts.
Why short must be so like shirt? So confusing. :P

@ShadowWizardWearingMask It's JNat's fault.

ha!
@Aibobot the Clever Bot Who is Not Even a Bot
But, trousers is a lot harder to type. :(

@ShadowWizardWearingMask How dare you accuse them of not being a bot!

@Rubiksmoose if it's a bot, we're all in a big big problem.... :P
Fun fact, recently joined a Line group with 25 bots. (!)
Looks like it's not so rare in that app.
Each time a different bot respond to commands, sometimes few in the same time.

Rob
@ShadowWizardWearingMask Looks dark blue to me.

8:44 PM
It can become very.... funny. :D
@Rob not that blue, not that dark, and not liquid. Liquid pants or shorts can be a real problem outside.
Even more than wet white shirt.

@Aibobot kecks!

9:09 PM
@Rob nah. My shorts are very much like those: jimkiddsports.com.au/products/…
(not Adidas)
Provoke me enough and I'll end up taking actual picture. :P

@AnnZen just to further note something I didn't see addressed: you can post answers on a site without signing up. You cannot ask questions there is a meta on this from way back when so it's by design

I can if I have an existing account on another site.
