@JourneymanGeek That happens. I have it whenever I have to call the help desk at my company for e.g. password resets.
The people over there are supposed to speak English. But whenever I give them my 6digit employee number (as a single number, starting e.g. with six-hundred-fifty-five-thousand) they never understand and I have to actually start figuring out how to write down my number and say it one by one :/
"Are you trying to request access to the printer?" "no, I'm not - I'm trying to..." "To request access, please send a mail to your responsible etc etc etc"
@JourneymanGeek yeah, it is just the crazy system. I had a case where the people hired where 5th or 6th down the line. And all parties involved still want to make some profit ... never sure why this is cheaper for the customer. Apart from not having to manage / interview those people.
@JourneymanGeek Do you want to rate our help desk service? On a 1 -10 scale, with 1 being not much and 10 being completely, how satisfied you were with the relevance of the help that was given to you?
But yeah, I can totally see how many people would feel downvotes as being outright offensive, insulting, unwelcome, and fatal to their life and career.
@ShadowWizard Ah, there is an explanation of the perpetrator. Makes sense, but is otherwise unacceptable. Wait, my friend, you are now in my black book and I will never forget this slight.
@Tinkeringbell How much less moderation for a post creeps up?
@Shog9 I'd recommend changing "long" to "detailed" for the Insufficient Explanation notice. Sometimes, an answer containing detail need not be very long, and the notice sometimes encourages wordy, non-concise answers (oh, the irony).
the goal of that particular notice was specifically to encourage longer answers, in situations where folks were playing Advice Golf to see who could post the pithiest answer.
long, rambling answers are a different problem :-/
@Shog9 Breadsticks with nutella ain't a lunch. They make an awesome snack though, especially when you melt the chocolate a little and roll it in sprinkles! :D
@ThorstenS. Oh, we don't just put in on bread :P Pancakes, dessert, cake, cookies, ice cream... We once had a Brazilian guy over for christmas, and he laughed his ass off at the assortment of sprinkles in our kitchen cabinet :P
As I'm suffering from paradontitis, I'm shying away from sugar as much as I can. Sometimes I'm wondering if that behavior affects my soft skills as well :3
This used to be possible, but they had to remove the feature after I'd … someone killed nine out of the ten top developers in my area of expertise and my area of the country. — Won't7 mins ago
