I used to go crazy when there were unread indicators on my phone apps... I have them turned off on many of the apps for that reason... but something about being a mod on IPS and never being able to get rid of all of the flags... it doesn't bother me as much.
We'll be taking Stack Overflow and the Stack Exchange Q&A sites offline for just a moment to failover our primary SQL clusters. Interruption should be minimal.
Here in China, pretty much everything by Google is blocked by the government. If you request anything from a Google domain, it will give the appearance of loading for a while and then give back a DNS error.
Stack Exchange uses a Google CDN to deliver some scripts, which means that users in China...

Hmm, the actual question that should have been asked in the first place: are automatically deleted posts from deleted users soft-deleted or hard-deleted?

@Mithrandir don't think so, e.g. many times people post private data by mistake, flag, and mod redact it. It's hard deleted in such case as far as I remember. No?
Or at least not available even for 10k users and mods.
Also, Nick hard deleted one my MSE posts in the past since it contained a secret IP that I stumbled upon by chance and asked about. So...
Couple of years ago such storms caused big parts of Israel to stay dark for long days... four days for me, some didn't have electricity for two weeks (!).
Part of it was because those who could fix it went on a strike to get better salary, saying they work too hard. And they have the best salary in Israel. :/
