@JasonC nice! Looks like heartbeat monitor...
;)

@ShadowWizard I suppose, for a patient who clearly didn't make it past the end of the graph, lol...

@JasonC and is very brown.... :)

Feb 24 2017 is the last day we went in here without a single lol.
Lol... this got weird:

A: Can I speed up stain drying with a hair dryer?

MikeI used my wife's oven to speed up stain and polyurethane finish. Needed to ship wooden yard dice quickly to a customer for a wedding gift. Unforgettably, the finish was not drying fast enough due to snowing/sleeting outside and high humidity in my shop. 12 hours after applying, and the finish ...

Unsure if I should write "Agreed. I'm a huge fan of your wife's oven."
Lol, but his avatar has a picture of his wife (I presume). It's too weird.

12:15 AM

electric might be semi safe

Lol, now I'm questioning my judgment here. It's conceivably possible that that answer is completely made up and has no purpose beyond serving as a build-up to "You got to LOVE your wife's oven."

1:02 AM
Naw. Low temperature might work.

I hate phone interviews... Well, using phone in general, but interviews much more. And even more when the interview is because someone else is applying for a job. :(

user315433
It could still be worse, though... I could be on the other end of the phone line.

yeah...
Talking to yourself is fine. Talking to yourself with lag over a phone...

user315433
Yeah, and hearing own voice over the phone is no fun either.

user315433
FR: replace phone interviews by Google chat or somesuch.

user315433
Pro: there's an actual record of conversation, to be referred to later if needed.

user315433
What platform is that? The source mentions "batcache" at the bottom of page, which looks like a WordPress plugin?

user315433
2:46 AM
Yup, wordpress. Media files have URLs like zgab33vy595fw5zq-zippykid.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/…

@NormalHuman So, funny thing about that... Turned out that WordPress is a massive pain to maintain and host on-prem for us given the low activity on community blogs, but is actually pretty alright for non-technical contributors. I'm not up on all of the details, but as far as I know we ended up with hosting at a third-party provider who takes care of the infrastructure maintenance for us and consolidating company blogs from Jekyll and Hubspot into one location. — Adam Lear ♦ 2 hours ago

user315433
From WP to Jekyll and back... well yeah, the idea of Marketing people pushing commits to GitHub was perhaps a bit ahead of our time.

user315433
As a non-technical blog contributor, can confirm: WP is pretty alright when you don't have to host it.

Q: Disconnect between Meta Assumptions and Actual User Behavior

Brandon BradleyI should first point out that I have read and understand the reason that downvoting works in the manner that it does. That said, there are numerous instances where the Meta community's justification for allowing a behavior does not apply. For reference, here is the specific question that brough...

user315433
I remember there was an actual user Behavior here, but with a u in it.

How to use a dishwasher:
1. Take the clean dishes out of it
2. Put the dirty dishes in it
3. Be sure not to skip step 1
Some of my colleagues don't seem to understand that

@Stijn F.I.N.O. pattern

Never
Out

@Stijn 1.5: be sure to put the clean dishes back in the cupboard, not on the same side of the sink that dirty dishes are meant to go....

@angussidney good ol' "Mobius Ring Dishwasher" pattern?

> We are a web design company. One day the company chairman calls us in the design studio.

Chairman: You guys do software, right?

Me: Well, yes.

Chairman: Great. There’s another company I’m starting. I want you to write missile guidance software.

Me: Um…

Chairman: Don’t give me that. Software is software.

@M.A.R. Country? I am pretty sure that in many countries you can't be requested to work on war-related topics without consensus. Actually, I think that in many countries if you opted out of military related services using one of the "moral choice" laws you cannot no longer work in war/weapon related sectors
(also... Therac-25 - never try to do software you never did before)

What to do when people won't stop an off-topic discussion in comments on a post of mine? I want the notifications to stop.

flag ?

It's on MSO, so flags take 6-8 hours :>
but I've flagged it now

Why on earth did the PHP question get that many upvotes? It's horrible.
It shouldn't have survived that long

2:39 PM
@Bart what question? Oh, has your flag been handled?

@Bart it slipped through the net I guess

@Bart lucky you!
@Stijn maybe they want their dishes cleaner

3:02 PM
Aww, I used some C# 7 syntax but our build servers haven't been upgraded yet :(

@Bart mine was handled in 1 hour :D

Am I supposed to be able to access chat rooms on sites that are still in private beta?

@mikeTheLiar probably. Private beta's aren't really private either, anyone can join them.

I can't join the devops private beta. Says I needed to have committed to the proposal.

@mikeTheLiar Go to area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/97295/devops and click the visit link below the days counter, at the top left
Anyone can access private beta by simply clicking the link to it in the Area51 proposal. This whole thing needs to be removed. (the private beta thing only protects it from being indexed or accessed by mistake by outside visitors) — Shadow Wizard Apr 2 '15 at 20:17

Ahh yeah, just figured that out. I was trying to go directly to the site and getting blocked.

@TravisJ some of my flags were easy.... :(

user315433
So I got at least part of it covered. (Also, should be "possesses" instead of "possess", but maybe it's a test for how "detail-oriented" the applicants really are.)

This discriminates against vampires and other undead applicants.

What? I think vampires are as willing as anyone else to be a part of a fun team. Especially if the team offers free lunch.

Yeah, like a baseball team. But eating the @StackChefs lunches might be an issue.
