@PeterJ This belief is more than a century old.
Back in 1890s, many parents stopped their kids from learning physics as the science community at that time believed all of the natural laws of physics have been discovered.

Ok
Why do I have 4 of the same tab?

Hmm, I think I also read somewhere that Rutherford's (Or maybe it was Einstein's) parents bashed him because his love for physics 'couldn't possibly get him a good future'.

Hello bjb!

5:02 PM
auto carrot…

I've never understood autocorrect. Is there anyone to whom it is more of a help than a hindrance?
It's software trying to think for you... and failing.
By contrast, my phone also has an option where it suggests words. Then it doesn't try to think for me, it tries to think with me.
And that is actually a nice option. It leaves the end user in control.

@S.L.Barth "defiantly"

@bjb568 LOL... definitely, but that anyone is not you, obviously!

@S.L.Barth Disable that everywhere || suffer an ingenious ignominious fate.

@UnitedStatesOfAmerica This. There are feature requests that I would bounty.

5:11 PM
@Rene I think your question is better at writers.SE. I'm not fully sure of their scope though.

5:29 PM
@S.L.Barth without auto carrot, I no can typez

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M oh, I didn't realize that. I'm not a native speaker so that made me think that ELL was the best fit for just a single phrase

@rene You should use ELL when you can't understand the meaning of something or are trying to learn something grammar-y.
You can say
> Can I say X?
But you can't say
> How to send this message to readers better?

OK, makes sense

6:37 PM
@Rene the writer's chat is dead.
So you can only ask on meta if you can ask it there.

@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M well, on ELL they also like answering off-topic questions in that case: I got an answer but I'm not sure if I like it.

@rene Sigh a good portion of the users on ELL have some special apathy towards quality control.

@bjb568 Is there rep system there too?

Yes

@bjb award it to anyone who says "!!/lick" thrice.

Oh right, I was going to have it based on edit suggestion history.
But since I don't have edit suggestions…
I'll just make it level 3 moderator.
Level 2 is access to review queues, but you don't need to direct-edit for review. But if you're casting delete/undelete votes you should be able to edit.

@SmokeDetector tpu- wrong timing

The Drupal.SE spammers have been pretty quiet today. I wonder if it's already Monday somewhere?
....in which case that might well be where this spam originated.

@S.L.Barth It's been Monday for 10 mins here.
So the rest of the world on the right side of my face is Monday.

@SmokeDetector Ignore- edited.
Actually, suggested an edit. Hope it makes its way through.

Auckland, NZ and Suva (Fiji) are also options. Latest: Kiritimati, Christmas Island, Kiribati
...of course it's all guesswork without access to the SE servers... and the spammers probably spoof their IP adresses and what other data might give them away.

Auckland doesn't seem logical, I expect spam to originate from countries where the labor-costs are low.

My gawd I have 73 halpful flagz on SU.

Oh WAIT A MINUTE.

@rene Where does that answer say what modal verbs are again?

@tchrist They're trying to teach to the OP how to memorize the modal verbs.

that ^^

8:04 PM
@S.L. Hullo! Long time no see!
@rene Still NAA.

but I already have proven today that I don't understand the ELL and ELU sites so I'll leave it to you....

Ok, we're done: flag as spam or offensive?

I do not think it is advertising, but I can't tell what it is.

if we flag as offensive we might be able to get it off the site
without a moderator
But we will be acting as a voting mob in that case

8:15 PM
I NAA’d the first one and custom-flagged the second with a link to the first.

Ok, I flagged NAA on the ell one
