@Bart I still miss happy hour. No drinks for me, of course.

@SmokeDetector ignore- I edited the title, the rest will be dealt with differently.

@Idisagree OP rolled back

OP is simply proving he's always an a**hole

user259867
I put the tag back. It's my conscious choice to keep the titles on the site clean and descriptive. If you like the original title, take it to Reddit. — I disagree 1 min ago

Q: mixing javascript variables within html src attribute

Doug FirrI know this must sound very basic and I'm prepared to take a hit in downvotes. Here is some javascript: var now = new Date().getTime(); var aid = 123456; var sid = 78910; var user = "abcd"; I would like to create an image tag in html like so: <img src="www.example.com?param1=aid&param2=sid&...

> I know this must sound very basic and I'm prepared to take a hit in downvotes.

@AstroCB inb4 meta complaint about unfair downvoting

4:39 PM
@bjb568 You have to stop doing that; you changed the meaning of the question.

No, I figured out what it meant than clarified it.

You literally substituted the OP's question with the answer to it.

"something something varaibles image tag!" → coherent question
Rev 1: problem statement: "I would like to create an image tag"

bjb uttering the word "coherent" ... I have seen it all

I moved that into the title and made the question centered around that, removing the irrelevant noobisms.
and slapped the noobisms with a dv

Apr 5 at 22:01, by Doorknob
You can't use the fact that the question doesn't have a tag as rationale if YOU'RE the one who edited out the tag...

Like I said, revision 1 had a clear problem statement. I didn't make up my own problem, it was already clear. I just made it clearer.
In any case it's better to lose the original meaning than to just leave crap on the site. But for this question, I was fortunate enough to not have to do either.

Ugh, 9k is so ugly rep. I'll get 10k as soon as possible, it's beautiful.

Blatant clickbait titles with no descriptive content are destructive to the community. If a post author is engaging in an edit war to revert edits that improve the post, the post should be locked as content dispute. However, in this case, the edit war has stopped so a lock is not necessary. — bjb568 29 secs ago

Q: Don't collapse comments on much answered questions in review

Artjom B.Comments are usually collapsed when a question has many answers. When the question or one of the answers comes up in review, the (zero-vote) comments are still collapsed. So, difficult.

Oh, then you'll have to try to get a bunch of accepts.
Or maybe somebody will offer another bounty.

A: Do you find cyclomatic complexity a useful measure?

kenj0418We refactor mercilessly, and use Cyclomatic complexity as one of the metrics that gets code on our 'hit list'. 1-6 we don't flag for complexity (although it could get questioned for other reasons), 7-9 is questionable, and any method over 10 is assumed to be bad unless proven otherwise. The wor...

Wait what? 6? Like, not 2 hundred forty 6?
Is there some fetish for making a bunch of one-use functions?

For maintainability reasons yes
It's much easier to maintain code that is separated into functions then the main function should combine all of those functions, kind of like a play-book

7:04 PM
function areWeGettingStarted() { loopthru letsgetStarted(element) }
function letsgetStarted(element) { areWEREADY() }
function areWEREADY() { element.className = 'blogh'; beginHighlighting() }
function beginHighlighting() { highlight() }
function highlight() { highlight() }

But you can have very non-maintainable code which has a cyclomatic complexity less than 6. For example stackoverflow.com/a/30630483/4639281 the last code example is not very maintainable at all and it only has a cyclomatic complexity of 5
function beginHighlighting() { highlight() }
function highlight() { highlight() }

thats redundant

:p
The whole thing's redundant.

It can be and can not be at the same time. I'll write out a better example.

My node thing that powers DD has pretty much 1 function.
It does have anonymous callbacks tho.

function highlight(lines) {
for(loop lines as line) {
line = highlightLine(item);
}
}

function highlightLine(item) {
var words = regex;
for(loop words as word) {
word = highlightWorld(word);
}
return words;
}

function highlightWord(word) {
return highlightedWord;
}

7:10 PM
meh
I'm going character-by-character anyway.

That is maintainable separation

@Bart no escape, I'm afraid. We all go down.

Everything has its place and purpose at its respective indentation level.
The village is quiet and tranquil, the loops relaxed.

that's ridiculous to approve it, but anyway. That's their choice.

7:17 PM
I give you 2 rep to make me loose 10!
nicael is so noble.
So, I take it everybody agrees my highlight function is awesome and very well written?

But not very self explanatory. If someone else had to maintain that code and there was a bug. How easy would it be for them to find it? First they would have to read most of the code and understand what the intention is. Maintainable separation is like commenting your code but 10,000 times more helpful

I tried fixing up rainbow for my own use and it wasn't very easy.
Too much going back and forth between functions.
Also, those comments there are just horrible.

i would just remove all of the comments immediately, thats useless

Your code looks cleanly indented and everything else, but I definitely think you could make it more human readable

...so it doesn't. I can't answer a protected question not having required rep with this script.

@TinyGiant if kitteh can read, good enough for me

The rest of bugs were already reported, not by me. The script just adds the form, nothing else.

DD won't have those bugs!
And will have more protect states, like wikipedia.

@nicael probably. Wouldn't surprise me.

Last time I was on mobile my N900 only showed the 'loading' screen.

Actually I have no hard proof that the nomination period would indeed be extended, as these are beta-stage elections, for which there's little precedent. Personal Finance & Money was a graduated site when that happened... but still, I don't think SE would be okay with mods that win by default.
