@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. He edited the post to add a bit of information, meta.security.stackexchange.com/q/2088

@NormalHuman Yeah got that.

Who is this guy with a diamond on SO, and why does he have such a weird name?

minitech
right?

user259867
Yes... but kind of shocking.

He's had that name for a while now, hasn't he?
At least on non-SO sites.

user259867
I don't remember seeing him like that on SO. I don't encounter him outside of SO or its meta.

user259867
8:20 PM
Say goodbye to your diamond.

user259867
No, a string of (removed) is a pointless train.

When I collected info for my SO mod chart, he was still minitech. I'm not going to edit it...

@UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE How did you do this, create a bookmark within chat and with your custom name as part of the URL...?

user259867
@S.L.Barth under "room" dropdown, "create new bookmark"

user259867
8:26 PM
But it doesn't include deleted messages (neither does the transcript), so the goal wasn't achieved.

Ah, thanks! Funny, never actually looked there.

user259867
@S.L.Barth There are some gems in there, chat.meta.stackexchange.com/rooms/info/89/… but unfortunately can't be voted on, so it's not easy to find the best ones.

I need a mod to suspend me

@UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE That's an old problem. I even recall a post, I think on Jeff Atwood's blog, about a Stack Overflow user who wanted to be removed... restored... removed...
I think it was from 2009. Jeff was actually happy with it, because it was clear Stack Overflow was something desirable. (My words, I think he phrased it differently).

So... close. One of very few badges that I sort of care about.

Nice!

user259867
I undeleted How did Stack Overflow get its Twitter account? because the account stopped posting Jay's gibberish. In the process, found a couple of odd things:

user259867
(1) it had 3 undelete votes already, but only mine appears in the post history

user259867
(2) it's not logical that self-deleted posts are made harder to undelete because of their high score.

What is happen?

8:41 PM
Nothing
Go back to school

@bjb568 DevDoodle was burnt to a crisp when you weren't looking. That's all. :-P

Waits for dec 18

What's then?

GOLD BADGE
I would have gotten it 2 months ago if internet didn't die :(

So now it's hoping that your internet connections won't die for the next three weeks...

8:45 PM
Yes
I can actually leave a computer logged in as me to reload a SO and SE tab every day if I'm not free

But, I think you'll still be in school during that time, so if your internet at home breaks, you could still try it from school?
...assuming your school allows it, of course...

Places nearby that offer free Wi-Fi?

Dunno
Shopping center

So, there's a contingency plan.
In addition to leaving a computer to automatically refresh... but that carries the risk of someone unlocking it, and getting access to your account.

8:49 PM
Eh I'll use some old ubuntu 10.4 computer

And that is in some place where there will be an internet connection?

Wait. When you said that your internet died, did you mean the network card on the computer you normally use?
Surely, if a computer under your bed has internet access, you can also use that access from another computer...?

No, it previously died, now it's ok

The internet connection or the computer?

8:53 PM
Internet connection was broken

Ah, reading the thread back, I think I see. This computer is for days when you're not free.
Still, Fanatic badge is the most worthless of gold badges. You can get it while literally knowing nothing about the SE site where you get it.
....which is why I'm going out of my way to get it on any SE site I can :-)

Lol
I should write a bot to do that
Then put on GH

user259867
Does accessing site's posts via API count as a visit? If you do it with authorization (with a token))

Worth trying out.

@NormalHuman I'm almost certain that it does
because I'm pretty sure using the Android app counts

8:57 PM
I'll try tomorrow

Smokey doesn't have it.

Smokey doesn't use an auth token
(why would it?)
If there's no auth token, how would the API know who you are?

user259867
Okay, I'll test this theory over the next hour.

Uses flaggerbot to try
Adds to todo list

user259867
If it works, then setting up a simple script on any free online platform (I'm partial to Google Apps Script) gives Fanatic without even having access to computer.

9:00 PM
That would be overpowered

...but a great contingency plan, in case your internet connection dies within the next 3 weeks.

FLAIRS ARE DEAD AGAIN

or not

@bjb568 That URL gives me a 404. Even when I try to follow it (from my FractionalRadix GH account).
Problems remain, but maybe that's due to caching.
...hm, it seems that after a refresh, the problems are now gone.

Q: "Ban myself" button in user profiles

chronosThe purpose is to help the addicted user stick to a decision to concentrate on a different, short-term real-life problems s/he urgently has to deal with. I've seen this feature on some high-activity community forums. "Ban myself" button should offer several pre-defined periods for banning: start...

@ShadowWizard "Welcome Mrs. Skeet" LOL!

@S.L.Barth rofl! How didn't I figure this myself.... :D

IIRC his wife wrote a book too. I think it was a children's book.

@Doorknob yup, he decided to ditch the nick and use real name. Happens. :)
@UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE you know what most teenagers stash in there, right? (hint: not a computer)
;-)

@ShadowWizard What else do you think is on that computer....? :-)

@S.L.Barth not on @UNIC's computer! blech :D

@ShadowWizard That's right.... as far as we know that would be @UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE's reaction.
@bjb568 It seems your fix for DevDoodle worked. It hasn't caused my browser to become unresponsive anymore.
