That being said, some people feel more comfortable about the core people of a community with real names and pictures (including me). Not having seen this before, it struck me as horrific that a user would actually suggest an edit to a spam post to correct link markdown, and it was unanimously approved! This user posted some spam, but didn't get their link markdown correct: So, it was kindly suggested to correct the spa...

^^ I really and truly can not fathom the depth of the ineptitude required here.

We need some way to get these uncaring reviewbots out of the queues.

@ShadowWizard just today I have had the last confirmation that SharePoint does indeed add random zero width spaces in strings inserted via rich text editors (for example when editing a list item). Now, just think of the possibilities this opens. Hours and hours of fun determining WHY two strings do not match.

Or people listen and not do what they're told not to do. It's a pretty simple system. Exponential punishment only triggers because people continue to do things that they're told not to do. If you don't do those things, you don't get suspended and the exponential effects don't kick in.

We need the extra space for people who have lots of reputation and badges.

There's also the diamond box there, which is actually a tertiary inbox that moderators get for SPECIAL THINGS

I think it's just normalization with how it shows for mods and such.

Because for mods we always displayed the flags on the left, next to the diamond box, so the space was always designed around that situation since that's where it gets most crowded.

Badges and such expand to the left direction.

Or, wait, no they don't.

No, just intelligent design decision. CM tools are only used by a tiny number of people (namely, us CMs), so making UI changes that have to account for the stuff we use is basically spiting everyone else on the entire network.

Searching for info on a stack overflow error in a library I'm using turns out to be challenging. All results are SO questions about the library.

I've always used Google for searching stuff on SO (or any other site). Another idea is to "Ask a Question" and then type your search query. It might prove more effective than a normal search :P
