Won't has some strange background on user name in his profile. Or is it just my browser's hallucination?
!/hats?
@Behaviour It's just at the top of his profile description.
@Sompuperoo !!/hats?
!!/hats?
@hichris123 HATS ARE AWESOME. Winter Bash started 14 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 50 seconds ago.
how much time left smokey?
user259867
Less than the amount of time that passed. :(
user259867
12:02 AM
Time to change the bot to report the remaining time.
Do they end on January 5th 0:00 UTC?
user259867
> If we choose to accept, the event will run from 15 December 2014 to 4 January 2015.
user259867
I think so.
user259867
It began at 15 Dec 0:00 UTC.
So soon? :(
12:06 AM
!!/hats
@hichris123 HATS ARE AWESOME. Winter Bash will end in -7 days, 0 hours, 5 minutes and 46 seconds. :(
YOU DID IT ALL WRONG @SmokeDetector!
!!/hats
@hichris123 HATS ARE AWESOME. Winter Bash will end in 6 days, 23 hours, 50 minutes and 40 seconds. :(

There.
Wha? It'll end? :(

@Doorknob冰
@bjb568 Uhh, I guess. :P
:D
Including is nice.
user259867
@Doorknob冰 Roomba will get it, don't waste delete votes.
user259867
1:06 AM
@bjb568 The best intervals are half-inclusive, like a≤x<b. Because you can stack them neatly without overlap.
Ooh, yesh!

1 hour later…
2:21 AM
@Undo I got CUDA to work. :D
It's a lot slower though.
2:59 AM
@nicael Wat?! Only 60? I expected you to lose 560 repz :D
Ok, newbie question here: I just noticed @Pham seems to autodetect spam. I've also noticed Smoke Detector, and a couple other bots. How many bot frequent this room?
@anorton I think Pham and SD are the only spam bots. Some other people like to test their... uhhh, less productive bots here (cough @bjb568 cough). :P
Ok, thanks. :)
user259867
3:20 AM
@anorton There are two instances of Smoke Detector, with different algorithms: one posting as fully robotic Smoke Detector, another posting as hichris123 (who is yet to be confirmed as a robot). They, and Pham, are the only regular bots here. We used to have Gham, but it's been AWOL for a long time.
user259867
...and the less is said about the bjb botlings, the better. :)
^ like that
Speak of the devil! :)
user259867
@SmokeDetector fp
support number? :/
@SmokeDetector fp
3:22 AM
@AndrewT. Registered as false positive and added title to Bayesian doctype 'good'.
:-O
That's a cool bot.
@anorton Pham is even cooler!
Are they open source?
(Or, at least, is there a basic description of how they determine if a post is spam?)
Yep, they're both open source.
Somewhere on Github.
user259867
Thanks.
@Doorknob冰 Hey!
user259867
@anorton Ah, I forgot to mention @Zephyr ... it's always here, but it never posts. It only listens.... and posts elsewhere.
3:27 AM
And a bunch more
Do these bots watch over all of SE, or only certain sites?
All of SE.
Cool.
Good night!
Oh, it's midday? crazy
@Doorknob冰 What? I was summoned?
3:32 AM
...and spam canary reports spam to Jan Dvorak, who checks and posts the true spam reports in here. You will see him posts a lot of spam reports.
@bjb568 uhhhh nothing
While Sam is sleeping, I'm going to run an older version of Pham - this means the newer fixes aren't deployed but you can keep the network in shape in the meantime
why not newer?
3:34 AM
@bjb568 I... uh... kind of borked the newer version. Thankfully, I had a backup!
So there you have that.
@Unihedro ... isn't it on a git repo?
Why not just use that?
Patrick Hofman runs an instance of Pham as well (sometimes)
:O
Eh... Good idea, but I gotta head out. I'll do that when I'm back.
Arghhh... still no sleep :/
3:36 AM
...and there is Fox 9000 who visits in case we need translation help or if there are too many star trolls
@Unihedro People don't sleep these days.
What does @NotDoorknob do?? :D
AND I BLAME MY CRAPPY SEMESTER GRADES ON IT!
I mean… 2 percentage points less in Bio?!
@InfiniteHappiness Not be me, obviously.
@bjb568 IT'S YOUR BOTLING'S FAULT!!
3:38 AM
:O
user259867
@bjb568 less than what?
@Behaviour First quarter when my sleeping from summer carried over.
Oh, I mean quarter.
Second quarter vs first quarter.
That.
Does this count as pink?
I don't want it to be pink.
pink, no, brown.
It's too bright. Try a bit darker, it will be magenta then.
Hiya @Nordehinu (@Unihedro's bot) :D
user259867
3:41 AM
Let's not call it pink, then. Call it "saturation-challenged red".
5
Hiya @Inf :D
@Behaviour You wouldn't discriminate against a saturation-challenged color, would you? :D
@bjb568 On my monitor, it shows up as pink. (Or, if we want, saturation-challenged red.)
So, it's just these 10 bots in here AFAIK
3:44 AM
^^ How's this?
Lighter?
Redder?
@bjb568 It's more like orange now, but it's a brownish orange.
I think it's an ok color, but it depends on the overal scheme of the site/picture.
Ok, that's more tan.
3:45 AM
This is good. It gets my vote.
@bjb568 wait, what is the purpose? is it for emphasis?
@bjb568 I don't think it's better, because it can be a little difficult to discern the difference between the white text and the tan text at a glance.
wat
I like this one best.
@AndrewT. Yes
3:47 AM
We are professional color connoisseurs
Then again, I should probably make all the emphasized items links… To respective articles in a help center.
color.se
I'm making the about page for DevDoodle, BTW.
user259867
Just don't make the background pitch-black in the first place. Then the colors will not hurt the eye as much.
user259867
On Scifi-meta a similar color works fine.
3:48 AM
No, it's to sternly inform users "We want to be helpful to as many users as possible" @AndrewT.
@Behaviour OH GOD THAT'S AWFUL
> To facilitate our goal of creating content that is useful to the greater community, we have very strict quality standards. This is not a discussion forum: All posts should be on-topic and helpful to as many people as possible.
Scifi meta has always hurt my eyes
user259867
@Doorknob冰 Now imagine it pitch-black (or just hover over a comment). Worse still.
^^ WTH?
3:50 AM
Go blood red like MSO
@Behaviour No it isn't…
:33k:
Will it kill me?
user259867
Someone will, if you publish the site like this.
@bjb568 ow
I'm thinking light orange (#F96) is best.
user259867

Q: Colors to use with black background?

metacompactnessIs using yellow text on a black bg bad as Mike pointed out here? If yes what colors should I use (RGB or hex values)?

3:54 AM
This is the coda theme I'm using.
That's actually quite pleasant.
It's so much fun to read a conversation between Behaviour and bjb568. One is so sane, and the other one is bjb :P
This is a website that I like the design of.
Ok, crazy idea here: what if you used the green as the highlight?
(Unless you're using green elsewhere)
Looking at the code snippet, the green and blue are the colors that jump out most to me.
Meh.
I'll try.
user259867
3:58 AM
@bjb568 Stop it with these chemical colors...
Ok, I guess my green suggestion isn't too great. :P
Everything is a chemical!

what's your impression of bjb?

Naw.
If that's referring to my immature comments, somebody needs to grow down.

@InfiniteHappiness He used to have 0 upvotes a couple of months ago...
@anorton the hats must have changed his behaviour

4:14 AM
@bjb568 He's had so many names that I've lost track. However, I think I did actually track down his real-world identity (but I obviously won't say what it is). :-)
He was weapon of choice, a brick in the wall, raff, warm fuzzies, and now Behaviour. Not sure if I have missed any name
@InfiniteHappiness raffeliasia (or something like that...)
@InfiniteHappiness I associated all those names with respectability and kindness O_O… they were all one person.
user259867
@bjb568 Did you expect there to be more than one respectable and kind person in the world?
4:16 AM
I didn't know.
But now I do.
Didn't you notice those kind people doing your Math homework @bjb568?
Welcome, dear Flying Spaghetti Monster! The true God of the everything or something!
@InfiniteHappiness It wasn't homework. I'm not even in the BC class.
user259867
@bjb568 has 125 rep on Math but only two downvotes so far.
user259867
Let's make it... 20000 or something.

That question that needs cclosing desperately? Answered. Twice.
That's why VLQ and prompt closing is important.

still egligible for roomba, though
or is it?
@bjb568 but if the questions don't get approved to be shown on the site, when triage is fully implemented, there is no need for VLQ

> Almost everything that is done on DevDoodle is a community process. @AnnaLear From account merge: stackoverflow.com/a/25110511/2371861 still has a link to a 404 account ( stackoverflow.com/users/3890059 )

@bjb568 "betterment" is not as official-sounding as "for the benefit of the community", imo
user259867
Also, in "help each other out"... drop "out", it's too informal.
user259867
And I don't know what you mean by discouraging friends groups. If people collaborate on projects, they will naturally form groups around that. Whatever you call those groups.
user259867
Maybe drop that sentence, it's too much in the style of "what DD is not" -- not a way to introduce the site to someone.
