@Shog9 I hate those... with all my soul
12:14 AM
I picked a wrong time to bring up the comments under Doorknob's first question: Shog9 nuked a couple of them, including the one I linked. (Someone said something to the effect of "my first downvote here"; quite an achievement. That user even now has only 44 downvotes on SO, versus 24800 upvotes).

Interesting. What does "picklish" mean, anyway?
Don't know, but PicklishDoorknob sounds funny.
Maybe it's like "ticklish", but with pickles?
I didn't wake up yet, just came to check hichris123's ping. I will ignore all the ???s
It's mildly interesting to browse first posts by top users. Jon Skeet's first answer wasn't accepted! Darin Dimitrov's first post was a question!

^ Notice me not flagging as NAA, but trying to salvage the answer. :)
I found a picture of Doorknob, back from the days when he was picklish:
sniffs furever aloooone
No group to activity with.
And why's it sideways?! >:(
1:15 AM
I like part (d), sounds like fun. It would be even better if they gave the graph of a function (without any formula) and asked for a sketch of the graph of f'.
Also, a cellphone pic turned sideways looks like a typical Math.SE question.
@Rafflesiaarnoldii E is better: An algebraic proof of D. You get cos/root(cos^2) which is |sec|
Wait, no it isn't.
Well your picture cut if off >:(
It's cos/root(cos^2) = cos/|cos| = flippityflopfunctionsquarewavething
@InfiniteRecursion ... when did I ping you? looks I ping so many people. ;P
oh right my comment.

If sign / signum / sgn function is a thing in your course, I would use that to state the answer to (e).
@hichris123 :(
@InfiniteRecursion It has cool graphs! ;)
Graphs are boring
No they are not. Hm, putting bold outside of link []() breaks the link? Works on the sites.

Michael HamptonSince its inception Stack Exchange has tried to make it as easy as possible to ask a question, most of the time. 2:58 AM
I deleted my comments there, but I still think the proposal goes too far. SE gets many good answers from drive-by users who searched for a topic and found something related - not exactly what they wanted, but something they already knew an answer to. So they spend one minute to type in the answer, often a good one, and sometimes leading to long-term contributions. I wouldn't want to lose this. Sure there's a lot of junk too, but it's what gives us Steward badges...
@AndrewT. What's a COI?
@bjb568 conflict of interest
I am not familiar with this usage. In my (U.S.-centric) usage, COI means a single person having a conflict of interests, like negotiating a contract with another company headed by a relative. A conflict between two people is just that, a conflict.
@Rafflesiaarnoldii Let's start a new Meta.SE about how users are treating spanners' avatars' women like objects and raping them by calling them attractive.
3:04 AM
I got that usage from WP:COI, but maybe I used it wrongly.
> editor stands in a conflict of interest.
I.e., a single person. Not about a conflict between two people.

I got Mortarboard today! I always wondered what happened after the rep cap is hit -- do I get the rep from those extra upvotes the next day, or not at all?
@Shokhet you don't get it
@InfiniteRecursion Oh well :(
@Shokhet You do get a Mortarboard badge, so you have to be content with that :)
@InfiniteRecursion I noticed that badge; that's how I knew I hit the rep cap :)
@Shokhet The next time you hit the cap, you will feel bad. You will neither get the badge, nor the rep. After you hit it a couple of times, you will get used to it.
4:24 AM
@InfiniteRecursion After you hit it a whole bunch of times (100?) you do get a gold badge....
@Shokhet yes, then you feel happy again :D
50 for Epic (silver), 100 for Legendary (gold)
@Shokhet We got the badge at the same time! Well, almost: you got it 8 minutes earlier. After that, there is a slow grind toward Epic (50) and Legendary (150).
@Rafflesiaarnoldii Cool!
And then it's over. :( Unless SE implements my feature request: Now that Socratic is awarded multiple times, Legendary should be too
4:26 AM
@Rafflesiaarnoldii I think that's a good idea, +1 ;-)
Is that request applicable to you? .....I haven't been here all that long, and this is the first time I've gotten Mortarboard (and not even on my top site!)
No, the request is not for my own sake. I don't even have Epic on any of the sites.
I think it still makes sense, though.
The site/reputation page gives the number of 200 rep days you have. I got 32 days on Math, still a long way to Epic.

with a question with most number of upvotes on 9th rank, I wonder what is the algorithm to decide "Greatest Hits" :/
Greatest hits from search engine?
> Questions that got a large amount of views or a large amount of feedback.
Is there a link to SO's Greatest Hits somewhere or do we just have to type it in address bar. I see a lot of these things on SE network, like lot of cool things, with no "easy to find" links. Only a user with some experience on site is able to find them, which should be easily available to new users, to get them to use site.

A: Repeat Question from Unity Answers

vba4allIt does not matter whether you've already asked a question on X or Y site. This is Stack Overflow and if your question is within the scope of this site you're more than welcome to ask it.

@Unihedron harsh != rude, the latter shouldn't be done, the earlier can easily come off wrongly. Just because you are better, you don't have to be an asshole ;)
