11:02 PM
a car killed a guy on a movie once

Well, there are no cars in my game.

Suddenly, I have an overwhelming desire for chocolate cake and beer

user157982
I have an overwhelming desire to murder my cat. Preferably with a car.

@Moshe: you need to make a game about chocolate cake and beer. For Android.
Bonus points if it involves an android eating chocolate cake and beer

11:19 PM
An android eating cake and beer. Sounds like a good idea. That would be like the android designers, who probably had lots of beer while designing the OS.
:p

@Moshe Hey.. just played the newest build.

One would hope...

@Shog9 i may take this idea too

One of the best things about Steam is the transparency of deals.

11:24 PM
member for today, has a "Nice Question" badge already (hasn't been awarded yet tho)

Man... I want a badge that I don't have!

Meee toooo.

@Shog9 like the alert('true'); badge?

Although the question wan't all that insightful.

@mootinator Are questions supposed to be insightful?

11:26 PM
@Shog9 So meta.

> Your Tweets 4,242

Yes, ok, on SO Meta they are.

@jcolebrand wow. Username?

@Shog9 "This question shows research effort; it is useful and clear."

@mootinator Yeah - that's good enough for a question.

11:27 PM
@genesis guess. Also, that's not that many tweets. It's about enough to justify "I know what twitter is and how to use it" but that's about it.

@Shog9 No, I mean, asking an insightful question about insightful questions.

@badpssockpuppet I have not had enough beer OR chocolate cake to appreciate your humor, @badp

@badpssockpuppet so what you're asking is, is it required that meta questions be insightful questions about asking insightful questions?

@jcolebrand well, that was dumb question

@jcolebrand or freehanded circles

11:28 PM
@genesis which one?
@badpssockpuppet aye, or that.

Zoinks.

Indeed... A proper SO Meta question should be insightful, informed, and full of free-hand circles.

@jcolebrand wow. Username?

@genesis I said "guess"

and I said that it was dumb question from me

11:29 PM
It shouldn't be that hard to figure out my most likely twitter handle from pushing your eyes <<<---------- thataway ;)
@genesis ahhhhhhh

I'll bet it was someone famous. Like Alvin Brewer.

A: Array versus List<T>: When to use which?

Jon SkeetReally just answering to add a link which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet: Eric's Lippert's blog entry on "Arrays considered somewhat harmful." You can judge from the title that it's suggesting using collections wherever practical - but as Marc rightly points out, there are plenty of pla...

Should that really have been a comment on Marc's? :p

No, it probably should have been an edit to Marc's
It's a good article, if you haven't read it. Relegating it to comments is wrong.

Flag: Not a real answer. Muhahaha.

I concur there. And I don't begrudge ole Skeet his rep for knowing the things he knows

11:33 PM
I jest.

I hope that the site survives till I'm 40 and that I'm still active here, and by then I may have half his current rep.
@mootinator valid but no action necessary
I'm debating doing it, but a SO mod will dismiss it as invalid to spite me :p

@jcolebrand Only if you start posting really good link-only answers in clear violation of community norms.

@Shog9 I imagine writing a book would be the first step
> Google+ isn’t just half-baked; they haven’t even put it in the oven yet.

@jcolebrand Everyone talks about book-writing like it has to be the first or the last step. "Ok, i'm gonna write a book AND THEN GET FAMOUS AND DO STUFF!" "ok, gonna live a good full life AND THEN WRITE A BOOK ABOUT IT!"

@Shog9 I believe I've already started trying to become famous
hell, all of you guys know me (vaguely)
I'm becoming one of the go-to guys in my area for tech networking
I would say those are just as vital steps

11:36 PM
Eh, this @jco cat's been around for a bit, but I miss drachenstern - that guy was cool.

drachenstern was the shit
jco is like a $.clone() of him ... not quite the original

I remain in near complete obscurity.

I used to come in here now and then, and this room would be FULL of comments from drachenstern and josh... With an occasional bit of insight from Fosco... And Chacha saying hello... and Moshe talking about Sushe
Now, Moshe's moved on, drach and josh are gone, even Chacha seems absent

And today people are even talking meta about Stack Overflow.
What's with that?

debates how nostalgic he wants to get for six months ago when he wasn't really even here

11:42 PM
@Shog9 hey hey hey, I'm higher in chat message count than even Josh
I'm only <2k chat messages behind our fearless leader, and almost without exception (making that entire phrase pointless) all my messages are coherent thoughts and useful in some way (as opposed to others on chat.so who fluff their numbers)

@jcolebrand Meh. I was higher than you at one point... And then you started using chat. See how things just fall apart?

@Shog9 bah. Logic
Also, I'm #35ish on chat.se
and 11 on chat.so

Most of my posts are trolls, old memes nobody finds funny anymore, and postcount++.
I think I may have figured out the root of this obscurity thing.

Obviously, I need to just start hitting ENTER at the end of each line, like on an old

@Shog9 typewriter?

11:44 PM
typewriter, so that my many multi-line messages count as multiple messages for the
purpose of this meaningless post-count you all are going on about.

@Shog9 that would be in direct contravention to my previous point, or rather, direct backing up

Your last point was, and I quote,
2 mins ago, by jcolebrand
and 11 on chat.so

That was a point in re: your "once I was higher than you"

The point is obviously that you split single thoughts into
multiple messages
and thereby get a higher
postcount

So fwiw: 1 in 10 messages in the history of this room are mine. I'm pretty sure Josh is nearly the same ratio

11:47 PM
I hate manufacturers.

@Shog9 I disagree. I don't often do that, but occasionally I do. You seem to be implying that I do that frequently
@mootinator I hate salespeople.

"We see you had problems with your new device. Here's a refurbished one which is about 90% more likely to have defects than a new one so you can continue to have issues."

That would be the sales staff. The manufacturer would've made it all-but-new (the not new part being the case and maybe the screen or keyboard)
I did refurbishment work at two companies. I did my damnedest to make them as close to new as I could. Including stress tests.

I have had really mixed luck with refurbished devices. Phones... Meh. Mixers, Yeah!
I put my refurbished Kitchenaid through hell and it doesn't complain.

11:52 PM
=)

I guess that isn't a real site, I thought it was

you beat me to it
