6:13 PM
@TimStone Oh?

The client established the TCP connection 15 seconds before it got around to sending the HTTP request.

Heh.
That's a pretty small window.

15 seconds? That's like 60 billion cpu cycles ffs
60 billion seconds = 1 901.32588 years

Yeah, but a 15 second timeout on the intertubes?

@GeorgeMarian I consider 3 seconds too long myself

6:16 PM
LOL
Sure, but that's not my point. :P

I know
so anyways, off to lunch, I really gotta go get my nom nom nom on

Enjoy.
I should consider eating breakfast already.

70 rep to go.... can i do it?!!

Nice. 10k?
LOL No matter how much attention you pay, you always forget to change something when you copy and paste code.

almost :)

6:21 PM
Nice.
I'm still around 1700. LOL Granted, I haven't done much on SO in months.

I had a hell of a week... ranked #23 atm after 2 days at #29. averaging like 280/day

Good work.

Thanks! I love SO. Wearing my SO t-shirt today, but it's not working...

@GeorgeMarian Yeah, but it is pretty abnormal given that everything else operates in subsecond timeframes, since it's not like it's 15 seconds on the wire, it's 15 seconds between the client sending the ACK and the client sending the HTTP request.

6:25 PM
I just can't find questions I can answer on SO.

I've been too busy to spend much time on SO. I'm focusing my attention on Money.se. I broke 3k on Programmers and mostly stopped answering there as well.

Well, and on top of that the client shouldn't even be sending this request in the first place, but.

heh
Well, the thing is that under ideal/normal conditions it should be faster. However, timeouts should be more towards the worst case end of things; within reason.

Yeah, I guess the timeout on the chat server is around 15 seconds, or something buggy is going on.

Yup. Either something is causing a delay or 15 seconds is too short a timeout.

6:31 PM
Still doesn't excuse the client for being so slow though, so I guess that's the real issue at the moment.

Fair enough.

6:44 PM
Hey @George, just opening a Balvenie and thought I ought to pop in to 'share' it with you :)

@Benjol Oooh, nice. I've never tired it.

The packaging is convincing in any case. It was a present, don't think I'd ever buy anything so swish > even has the case number and bottle number (hand written) on it
it dates from '94!

LOL
Nice.

There's even a little note telling me how to taste it properly :)

My taste for scotch took off after my budge shrank. I have a long list of things to try for once the budget improves.

6:47 PM
still out of work?

@Benjol That's a certainly a sign of someone that cares.
Yeah, I've got some freelance work to get me by.

really need to get Jeff onto monetizing our rep (for us that is!)

If I can get enough work, I may just keep it that way. However, I'm not big on the marketing end of things.
@Benjol Agreed!
I have gotten a few contacts through the careers site, so that's good.

Having said that, I'm stalling on SO right now, as you were saying above
Yeah, well that's monetizing pretty well then, I'd say

I've been slowly working on my site/blog. Once I can get some better exposure on the web, I'm hoping to have an easier time finding work.

6:49 PM
remote jobs? There's not much chance of me finding anything else. Switzerland is about as well represented as Singapore ;)

@Benjol Well, it's not actually monetizing yet. ;)
@Benjol LOL. Fair enough.
I do prefer working from the comfort of my own home. Except when the gf keeps bugging me with silly crap. :)

I got 8 hours work from an old boss last week, managed to squeeze it into lunch breaks/evenings and one 1am-4am stretch.
First time it's ever happened to me. Nice.

Nice. I would probably continue to do some freelancing even if I find a fulltime job. Time allowing, of course.
It's either that or my own projects, but I find I'm better motivated by real goals. :)

Real goals, or real money? :D

Well, real money only comes from real goals. :)

Drinks are on me folks!!

\o/
In that case, time to get wasted.

@Fosco Congrats. Despite it being Friday, I'm going to have to hold off on the drinks. It's not even noon yet. Well, depends on which clock I check.
Though, this stupid form may just drive me to drinking.

I should probably think about doing real work now...hmm.
What's up with your form?

@TimStone I can't seem to get it centered. Of course, it's rending differently in Chromium and Firefox. So, I was hoping to have it centered to the submit button doesn't look off.

@Fosco Congratulations! :)

7:11 PM
@Pekkasothertrollingaccount + @George Thank you :)

Yep, congrats Fosco, colour me jealous, at the rate I'm going, I think I'm never gonna make the big 10k
LOL, I just read Manjot's starred message! I think he might be the evil clone of code kitten :)

LOL
I so want to start that, but I fear that it would be the wrong kind of encouragement.

7:28 PM
@GeorgeMarian, you could start one which answers him :)

@Fosco Enjoy your insight on the onslaught of flags SO must be

@GeorgeMarian, just in case you're interested: thebalvenie.com/en/ourRange_currentRange_SingleBarrel.php

@Benjol Hehe. I've already been there. :)

Did you watch the video?

actually after you make a flag can you switch to the 10k tools and mark it invalid too? :D

7:31 PM
they both have observably red noses :)

at least you can be half right all the time.

@Benjol LOL
LOL, those are some red noses.

@TimStone No, read more carefully; Fosco's all about moderation, now.

@George I guess you have to do something to while away the time when you're waiting the 30 years for it to mature :)

hehe
Well, they certainly enjoy their whiskey.

7:44 PM
@GeorgeMarian, got this for my birthday: dunno if it's your taste or not: amazon.com/Oh-Happy-Day-Edwin-Hawkins/dp/B000001U24/…

Darn, no samples.

but you know that one already...

Ah, yes. Copyright-infringement-tube. ;)
Man, how I love my speakers. Though, I still need a subwoofer.

@GeorgeMarian, admittedly I'm a sample size of one, but the record companies have got it all wrong: There are quite a lot of CD's I'd never have bought if I hadn't heard them on the net for free

Yeah, their greed has blinded them.

7:49 PM
Beatlejazz, McCoy Tyner, Koop, then there's the dvd's, and all the CD's still on my wishlist :)
Remember Launchcast? I discovered a heck of a lot of stuff on there

Hmm...I don't think I ever used it.

It played you 'random' music, you rated it, then it adapted the random to stuff that was liked by people who liked the same stuff as you. It also sent you adverts every so often, then cut off after x minutes per day.

@badpssockpuppet thanks for the mention on meta.gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/1397/… lol.. a friend just sent it to me asking 'what moment of madness?'
Have a great weekend everyone!

@Fosco You, too!

8:18 PM
Bye, @Fosco!

@Fosco lol, I see I wasn't clear enough
Certainly you do deserve a shoutout... at the very least.

8:41 PM
Love the mobile site

8:55 PM
Timesheet timesheet, filling you out, look at my timesheet and see what I've wrought.
Timesheet timesheet, where have you been? Why have you not filled your own self in?
Timesheet timesheet, filling you out, look at my timesheet and see what I've wrought.
Timesheet timesheet, horrid and foul, begone from me this week, and come no more about!

Sung to the tune of pinwheel pinwheel ... anyone care to guess what I'm sludging through before I get too far from it?
I can see that url's don't work there, so if anyone wants a clickable link here you go pinwheel pinwheel

@jcolebrand Never heard of pinwheel pinwheel

you young whippersnappers! Get off my lawn!

@jcolebrand This is my lawn...

oh yeah, right that

1 hour later…
10:05 PM
so the leftmost screen is jeff standing and watching?
all the time?
4th is their internal chat
5th is traffic from world
2nd is SE.com

@badpssockpuppet Hahahah, what the hell?

3rd bottom is the camera feed we're looking at
3rd top is... I don't recognize it.
@TimStone indeed.
"Um. A can. Can I pick this up? No? Um. Okay. So. Can. Um. (loops over)"
I wonder if somebody will spin the wheel of blame in time.

@badpssockpuppet LOL

I hope somebody'll make a gif of that

@badpssockpuppet You should make it Lazer's gravatar. It won't make any sense, but I don't think it has to.

10:15 PM
If you can give me the gif sure
as it is I have to go down for maintenance
nite

G'night

10:27 PM
Client: "Can we attach a picture of a signature to the document." Me: "No, that would be pointless." Client: "But just the name and date doesn't look secure enough" Coworker: "Why don't you make a QR code of the name and date" Client: "Oooh! Shiny!"

LOL
More adventures in web service crapdom... Build year of 1021? Somehow I don't believe that.

Holy crap! 9.75 bathrooms? Really?

10:52 PM
@mootinator this should go on clientsfromhell.net

@GeorgeMarian to shake things up they randomized the number of digits in the year and revision number in revision 49103...

@MaximZaslavsky Ah, probably =)

@badpssockpuppet did they ever say how that works? :)

No idea

11:02 PM
@mootinator really? geeze omg

@badpssockpuppet where do I see the other channels

11:32 PM
Hi!
Qustion
I was trying to login with my stack exchange account
Which I have correctly asscociated with between in my SO account
but when I tried to login to meta, with the stack exchange open id
it sort of created another account
Now I see my score as 101

Yeah, you need to get it merged
It's because meta is it's own beast, so that wouldn't work with any other meta.

@jcolebrand hmmm inteeresting, but do I need to send a mail or smth?
or can I do it myself?
I think I already solved it
BRB have to log out log in

11:50 PM
Almost at 7K folks, go help the cause.
Pick a question, any question, vote up up up!
:-)
Ah, here's a nice one:

A: Access an NSUserDefault from multiple views

MosheNSUserDefaults is a singleton class. You're not allocating instances of it, you're accessing it. That said, have you tried using objectForKey instead of valueForKey? Values can't return values, (... valueForKey] intValue];) whereas objects do indeed return values. Additionally, here's how I'd...

Okay folks, have a nice weekend. I'm out.
Tschüss!
