Is there a moderator or support person in here?

@KyleHodgson I'm sure we could summon someone if it's particularly important, what's up?

Q: User page tag counts don't seem to match anything really ...

drachenstern http://stackoverflow.com/search?q=user%3A109749+%5Bc%23%5D returns 100 Qs and As My user page indicates 89, but the onhover adds to 87. Can someone explain what's going on there? Which number is most accurate? [given: 100, 89, 87] @TimStone and I are both scratching our heads on some nu...

@KyleHodgson you would do a lot better to spit out what's going on. A few of us know some mods ...

Ah.

lol

@KyleHodgson Is this a question for ServerFault?

5:13 PM
oh ... ok
its a question about a post of mine ...
I'd like to talk to a mod privately about it
or support eprson
person*

so a) the entire SEI network is about open, so if it's not super-private, the best you can do is chat with them in a room like this. b) if it's super-private, email team@ (link to the address on the bottom of every page)

cool ty

Another thing to do is to consider flagging the post in question and asking the mod to email you.
is this for serverfault?

ah ok cool

What I'm getting at is that I can find you a mod if I know what site it's for.

5:17 PM
meta actually

ok, so you need someone for meta. hold please.

as in team@meta.stackoverflow.com ?
yep
ty

apparently everyone is gone to lunch :p

ah cool

email: team@stackoverflow.com

5:19 PM
i can email that address happily

on the bottom of every page ;)

ok cool
ty
nobody reads footers yo
;)

user102937
@drachenstern OK, I'm here (sheesh)

hehe, I see I see
it took a moment is all, and I am afeared @KyleHodgson has already departed
But you can read the transcript, and he's likely emailed already

user102937
OK, I'll hang out here for awhile.

5:24 PM
I did try ... ;)

5:43 PM
oh the horrors
these are computer professionals, these are programmers, these are people that know better!!!

:D

@drachenstern man, YOU paste screenshots in that wiki program.

I do what?
this is a wiki, on a webserver, with an attachment, of a word document, that has an embedded picture. Where did you get mail from?

@drachenstern I thought it was webmail, jeez

@badpssockpuppet haha
I am tempted to go through and convert all those to images...

5:50 PM
Also I'm not sure you captured the entirety of the WTF

as you can see, this is attachment 9.

That looks like Windows 98, at best

I don't think I need to stress that this means that there are at least 8 others

Okay, maybe NT 4

I think it's NT4
Also, Oracle.

5:51 PM
And the screenie was taken 6 days ago.
How many years has NT4 been out of support now?

lol
yay legacy!

Q: Generic Way to Check If Entity Exists In Entity Framework?

YuckSimilar to Best way to check if object exists in Entity Framework? I'm looking for a generic way to check for an entity in a DbSet. Something like this, which doesn't work: private DbContext DbContext { get; set; } private DbSet<T> DbSet { get; set; } public Boolean Exists(T entity) { ...

> Unsupported as of 30 June 2004 for Windows NT 4.0 Workstation[1] and 31 December 2004 for Windows NT 4.0 Server[2]
So that's six years of no security patches for that server
I hope your network security can make up for it :)

Fortunately I don't have to deal with that. That's stuff running on client's sites.

@RobertHarvey Can you join "Room for Kyle Hodgson and Robert Harvey" ?

6:01 PM
I believe he is offline atm. Don't quote me on that.

6:17 PM
@KyleHodgson so I take it the issue got resolved then?

yep thanks!

6:36 PM
@drachenstern Could be a prank sheep, for all we know.

@PopularDemand could be

@badpssockpuppet "What's the easiest way to drive a sysadmin mad?" "Tell him 'Well, if you were doing your job right, it wouldn't matter that my password was password!'"

@PopularDemand that's evil

@ircmaxell It was the SMBC a few days ago.
Although, in my head, a better opening line would have been "What's the easiest way to drive a sysadmin to justifiable homicide?"

true

6:44 PM
Argh, I just had rep divisible by 100 and came across a terrible answer. The OP wasn't even kind enough to delete it so I could get my rep point back.

7:07 PM
? Don't get it.

@PopularDemand Obviously they need even more down votes, mwuahah!
coughs

@TimStone Not the point; I want my nice round number back.

@PopularDemand I know, all the more reason to apply even more peer pressure.

@TimStone Oh, I see what you're getting at. Clever. Well, it was this answer.
Well, that backfired.
Was it just coincidence, or was I wrong to downvote that?

7:22 PM
Sorry, I haven't gotten a chance to look yet.

7:33 PM
@TimStone Well, it's kinda too late, it's at +1/-1 so it'll have to drop way below -1 to make it "worth it" for the guy to delete his answer (rep-wise).

7:53 PM
@PopularDemand This is a good thing -- now you have a chance to have the coveted 9999 rep. All will bow down before you.

@Hogan Coveted? By whom?

ME!
The real question is, will SO show 9K or 10K when you have 9999?

@Hogan I believe it shows 10k as early as 9951 rep.
Wait, no, that can't be right, it shows the full four digits for people with four-digit reps.
I think I was thinking of a views display question from a while back.
@Hogan It shows the full 9991 for the OP of this question.

8:17 PM
@PopularDemand Heh... down vote, screenshot, undo vote. Question answered.
But seriously... who wouldn't want 9999 -- look at the all those curves, the alliteration, the pure numberness of it.

@Hogan 10000 is fairly alliterative too

True, but it has that pesky 1 getting in the way.

8:32 PM
@MichaelMrozek ..and it gets displayed as 10K which is not alliterative at all.

@Hogan Well, depends where you're looking. For example: unix.stackexchange.com/users/73/michael-mrozek
Aww, I got another upvote :(. It was exactly 10000 a minute ago

@MichaelMrozek Now you need to downvote 10 times

I like the way you think

@Hogan I doubt that would work. I would imagine that by this point, Mrozek has overridden the Unix downvote button action to mean "delete this post and burninate the OP" (just for his own account, of course).
@badpssockpuppet didn't you make a "intro to Stack Exchange" Flash animation at one point?

8:50 PM
Soooo.... Who wants to make pretty graphics for me?
Tilesets and more tilesets and even more tilesets.

Q: RFC - Stack Exchange introductory "tour"

BenjolFollowing on from this question: Getting started with Stack Overflow video?, and because I just discovered Prezi, I thought I'd try my hand at a Stack Exchange introduction. I'm about a third of the way through the first iteration. Given that it's quite a lot of work, I'd quite like some feedbac...

I know people put a lot of work into stuff like that, but I honestly think it's fairly useless -- people aren't going to watch it. At least not the sorts of people that would benefit from it

@badpssockpuppet Dude -- that is great! Just one problem -- I speak english (sorta) and I could not read that fast.

@Hogan Read the comments, I think it's been mentioned

@badpssockpuppet Where is draft 6?

9:00 PM
@Hogan On my hard disk, incomplete

(There were only 2 comments... maybe I was looking in the wrong spot.)

what somebody needs to make is a Kinetic typography style video that explains SE in like 2 minutes. And then get someone like Lewis Black to narrate it.

Someone drawing on a whiteboard?

@drachenstern Now that is something to spend Unicorn dollars on. Or VC money, if Mr. Black insists on money that can be used worldwide.

9:06 PM
@PopularDemand wouldn't that be AWESOME? For about 120 seconds?

why do people downvote on something like this?
-1
A: How to defend vs. Image Remote File Inclusion, e.g. RFI using a .gif file (Apache/PHP)?

drachensternWait, I'm confused. Why would you include a picture in code? I'm asking as an answer and not as a comment so that the response can be targeted to this post. What's wrong with <img src="..." /> tags? What am I not aware of that I need to be aware of?

@drachenstern You didn't answer the question, you said "stop doing it that way". Which should probably be a comment; you even said so yourself in the post

@drachenstern My guess is that it's an answer and not a comment. Yes, I read it, but 1) the downvoter might not have and 2) I don't see how a comment would prevent you from getting a targeted response.

@MichaelMrozek no I didn't say "stop doing it that way" I said "what am I not aware of"
@PopularDemand cos it would maybe get tumbled in with other comments
one thread of thought
I just don't even understand that concept, to "include" a picture file as code. What does that even get you, except heartache?

@drachenstern I don't buy it; that's what @-messaging is for.

9:27 PM
I would never ask the C# compiler to turn a docx into MSIL
@PopularDemand I knew you were gonna say that :p
I just wanted to keep it in-one-thread
tucked away
isolated

Well, whatever. I'm not going to downvote you. (Mostly because I don't have an IT Security SE account.)

lol
doesn't it take 125 to dV?

@drachenstern So you can understand how it seems like downvoting you is too much work to be worth it.

@PopularDemand indeed. I thank you for your magnanimousity
