Not I. I would if I did

Eh, whatever.
Someone called "Justinbeiberlover ;-)" reviewed it.

goes to sleep.

@Moshe that would not be me

@mootinator kicks @mootinator for being obnoxious before

@mootinator night kev. I'm doing the same

5:07 AM
@drachenstern heh.
Night folks, I have several time-sensitive apps to finish up.
Just learned that I have several Israeli cousins who are programmers.

@Moshe that is not surprising.
you are Jewish. The Israelis are incredibly brilliant

@drachenstern Indeed, Thank you.

Good night

Night.

Q: Any shortcut for "cd .." ?

user35538Is there any shortcut for cd ..?

Really?

sighs

LOL
that's what I call an asshole.

You gotta admit that the answer is priceless.

which one, the accepted answer?

5:41 AM
Oh ok..

Hi folks.

hey hey

Hi Moshe

@Fosco - Nippon went to Apple on Friday.
Nippon Xtreme went in tonight.

@Moshe Awesome, Congratulations! :)

5:46 AM
Thanks
@Fosco - We still have a rotation bug to track down, but eh. Why hold up the works over a small glitch? Besides, if Apple notices, they'll tell me how to fix it.

You've put a lot of work into it and it's great.. I hope it does very well :)

Thank you.
@Fosco - How's the job search coming along?

Alright so far, had some interviews... nothing yet.

Good luck with that!
I had some Israeli cousins over for the weekend.
Several of them are programmers.

That's cool.. going to work on something together?
I'm playing Nippon right now and something interesting happened

5:52 AM
@Fosco Actually, none of us thought of that. I had an interesting time trying to explain Objective-C interfaces to one of them.
@Fosco What happened?
uh oh?

Im in Kyushu with 20 days left and 289990 yen or whatever

nods...

I got the message that Sashimi was being sold for cheap.. i clicked it and hit max

ok

the input box has 68719476836

5:54 AM
And when you hit confirm?

it says can't afford. for some reason the maximum amount button wasn't working

Ok, thanks.
I need to look into that

if I hit clear, it blanks the field.. max button brings back that crazy number

So I think it's a string formatting issue.
%li instead of %lli, perhaps.

sashimi price is 1,528.. i have 289,990

5:55 AM
Longs vs int64_t
@Fosco That's 189 Sashimi

the 'ghost' text says you can afford 189 at 1528

@Fosco \O/ Finder can do math!

but the function that runs when you click maximum amount is calculating 68719476836

It's not, it's the format text that's broken. I'm pretty sure.

the button also takes into account your storage capacity

6:00 AM
indeed.
@Fosco Does the broken number change when your capacity changes?
@GeorgeMarian - How are you?

it only happened that once.. i probably can't repo it anymore, but wanted to give you the numbers so you can test it

@Fosco It works the rest of the time?

Well enough. I'm prepping for an interview on Monday.

@GeorgeMarian Nice. Good luck with that. What language is that job working with?

I sure hope so. :D
Thanks. It's PHP and MySQL.

6:04 AM
Oh, cool.

hey it just happened again with sashimi
I have 30,497,399, can afford 1343 at 22704.. button gives: 68719476931.

Hrm... prolly an overflow.
Sheesh.
@Fosco - Do you have the latest one?

lawl...Sushi Overflow...

@Moshe I thought I had updated just before running it

shakes fist at unresolved dependencies

6:06 AM
doing it now to make sure.
I updated, ran it, continued my game.. it happens on any type
starting a new game.

Ok

happened on day 26
i have 3,430 and im in tohoku

@Fosco - Watch out for radioactivity. :P

too soon ! :P

@TimStone Whacha rastling with now?

6:12 AM
@Fosco - btw, there is a secret panel to set your own score, to test things.

@GeorgeMarian I'm trying to install this server, but for some reason the MySQL dependencies are failing.

@Fosco - According to testflight, you're up to date.

@TimStone Oh, fun stuff. With or w/o a package manager?

I prefer to do everything from source myself, but it takes damn forever. :)

Yah, it's a pain.

6:14 AM
@Moshe How does one access this secret panel of goodness?

@GeorgeMarian Without. Could be the issue, I had to install libmysql from source since apparently I can't install it from the package manager unless I also install mysql itself from the package manager.

@Fosco - I'm setting up a secret page on my website for the Apple reviewers to see, hang on.
Now, it is a secret..

raises brow
2
Of course, even mysql_config is giving the wrong information, WTF?

@Fosco - Got it?

sec..
im just trying to remember your domain name lol
oh i remember

6:26 AM
mosheberman.com

are you watching your access log and laughing at me?

no
I should though... :P

the image links are broken on that page

Wait, the photos aren't live yet.
yea
hang on

i was trying on yetanotheriphoneapp

6:28 AM
@Fosco - Well that's the wrong subdirectory :-)
@Fosco - Try now.
Don't tell anyone, btw.
@Fosco - Thoughts?

cool, thanks.. trying it now

If you use it in a live game, it should post your score on the "enhanced" leaderboard, but I'd appreciate if you don't test my flag checking. :P

took me a long time to get it to come up!

@Fosco That is not a bug. I put those buttons there for me, not for players.

yeah.. good stuff, i like it :)

6:36 AM
Hey @YOU! Sup?
@Fosco Thanks. I left review notes for Apple. There are several other secrets in the app which I've told them about.
By the way, thanks for reminding me @Fosco - I forgot to post that on Friday and they would've looked for it and found a dead link.

Glad I could help..

@Fosco Yep. I need to get you a promo code now.

The max amount bug is happening very frequently, fyi.

@Fosco I am going to investigate. Thank you.

6:53 AM
Hi @Dori what brings you here?
@Fosco - I just checked. There seems to be some sort of type issue there, but I'm too tired to track it down atm.
Night folks!

Night

7:11 AM
grumbles Hrm..

YOU
7:29 AM
?

Still trying to figure out why this ./configure isn't finding MySQL, heh.

YOU
libmysqld-dev or libmysqlclient-dev needed probably?

It's all there, it's just not finding it, hrm. :/

YOU
@TimStone, compiling mysql itself or some library that used mysql?

Right now I'm compiling something that uses MySQL. I compiled MySQL with a different --prefix, which might be the problem, but --with-mysql= should have taken care of that..

YOU
7:41 AM
imm, i see
can I know that library you trying to install? I like to try here.

I'm trying to install Roxen, but it's Pike's MySQL module that's failing.

YOU
I see
btw, which os, are you trying? @TimStone

CentOS 5.5

YOU
ok, I am on ubuntu, but let me try here too

US, Allies attack Libyan govt forces to defend the civilians there.

YOU
7:54 AM
@TimStone, and which version, bleeding edge?

Of MySQL? Current stable, but I compiled it myself (which meant I had to compile libmysql myself too, since there doesn't appear to be a package which doesn't expect the mysql to be installed via the package manager)

YOU
ah, I meant pike version, but let me know mysql version too

Ah, the Pike source comes with Roxen, so I'm not sure what version they have bundled.

YOU
aww, ok

Hrm?
What's that about?

YOU
8:00 AM
blacklisted tag may be

Ah. ok.

YOU
8:11 AM
@TimStone, I first try compiling roxen with existing mysql install now, and ./configure only claims for netttle is need to compile pike, but after I installed nettle 2.0, ./configure went successfully.

Hmm, well good to know it can work, thanks :D

YOU
here is summary on configure script I got, for your reference

Your MySQL is installed in /usr/local or so?

YOU
@TimStone, I have 2 mysql install on /usr and /usr/local, but I this is supposed to be using /usr one

Hmm

8:34 AM
The configure script for the MySQL module does some weird stuff, but I think I've made it work now with some modifications..

There's something wrong with this question, but I can't finger it. It seems localized and/or off topic. Also seems subjective.

YOU

Q: Best way of splitting website into Cities/Countries?

Herr KaleunHello friends :) i am running a dating website, or better say, try to. I want to be as generic as possible in terms of, coverage for countries. hey @NickCraver hope I'm not bothering too much.... users/editors tab on SO : stackoverflow.com/users?tab=editors&filter=all If I search for myself I see I have 277 Edits!! But I was just awarded Strunk & White Yesterday (Today if you don't count my timezone!!?) Do those edits also add up for your own posts?

@giddy the "edits" view there isn't exactly the same, no, it's a rough indicator
the badge query checks a few things like self edits, which is cheap on a person but not across the entire 500,000+ userbase, so it's a bit simpler on /users

@NickCraver ah I see thanks! Thought that was fishy! I made a really large number of edits today too since I got my shiny 2K rep! =D

np, if we can make that cheaper and feasible, we will, but not a super high priority, other performance fish to fry at the moment

Yep Your right. My Quarter edits are 201 - Total_Edits(277) = 76 edits before this quarter (which was when I was just asking questions and never participating) ...
So it does count self edits too.

@giddy They also count retags, which do not count towards the badge

11:18 AM
@badp's I see . (ah I can't put an @ reply to you?

@giddy ...um? why?

dunno maybe cuz of the ' in your username? When I hit @ and type b I dont see your name in the intelliense
oh one more thing.... Updating SEDE would be nice anything soon! =) =)

2 hours later…
12:53 PM
Anyone around.

Is that a question.
:)

1:39 PM
Hi
@balpha Nope. It doesn't have a question mark.

2:37 PM
Sigh, so HTML doesn't offer a way to put HTML where <embed>'s can't be loaded... wtf?

@badpssockpuppet Why are you still using <embed>s?

@YiJiang SE is

Q: When doing Youtube integration, please give an alternative for devices without Flash player.

badp's sockpuppetYoutube integration works well, IMHO. For example, where I had to show a few screenshots of the particular bit of a game I had trouble with (before), now I can just use a video (after): There's a problem, however, and it's with devices that have no Flash. On those devices, the embedded vid...

I mean, why are you using raw HTML instead of using JavaScript to intelligently determine which type of embedding is needed
It should still show up as <embed> in the HTML, depending on what browser you're using

@YiJiang It would've been consistent with the way <video> works :)
<video src="foo.mpg">Look mah, no js! ...and no video either.</video>

Yeah, well... it's Flash... you know

2:40 PM
No, it's HTML.

oh. <noembed>.

Why would you use embed at all? :P

eh, I wanted to offer a solution with my feature-request, I see it's no trivial "fix" however

I didn't even look at your question yet, it was just more of a tangential thought of mine, heh.

2:47 PM
\o/ CVLC

@badpssockpuppet You know, at first I thought that was Dwarf Fortress

It's a pitiy cvlc's ascii art runs kinda slowly

I thought things were changed some time ago to prevent a question from being migrated more than once, but I'm having my doubts now. Can we migrate a given question from SO to SU back and forth indefinitely?

@AdamDavis I believe it is possible, but if Jeff sees it he'll delete it

We should conduct a test henceforth!
Are there 5 people here that have 3k rep on SO and either SU or SF?

2:51 PM
@badpssockpuppet Never give it up.

@AdamDavis I have > 3k on both SO and MSO

@AdamDavis I'll try on Gaming → Meta.Gaming → Gaming

@YiJiang You can't migrate back to SO though

although probably using moderator abilities is kinda missing the point anyway :P

@TimStone Oh, right, I forgot

2:53 PM
MSO doesn't allow migrations back out. It's an end point.

If a question has been migrated once then the migrate options are missing. Off topic is just another option - it doesn't open up a sub menu.
The exception is moderators - they get the migrate dialog
Though if a question has been incorrectly migrated you should flag both posts for moderator attention. The original so it's migration history can be cleared and remigrated, the migrated one so it can be deleted.

Awesome, thanks. I thought that was the case.

Yes, moderators have no problem migrating what has been migrated already
I can jump things back and forth from Gaming to its meta with no problem.

Like a dog to its vomit.

The test question I flinged around was not totally unlike vomit.

3:00 PM
And I'm sure you did it with great gusto. Flung it, I mean.

Gusto? Not really. Interest? Heck yes!

Stuck on a physics question, of all things. Grrrr...
And it should be simple

@YiJiang Wish we had an SE for it, man. Ah well, just ask how to solve it with Python on SO :P

Sadly, I'm unable to come up with a good double rainbow comment to add to your question, so I guess you win the meme war. This time.

@badpssockpuppet Meh, its a simple homework question. One of you might know the answer. I'll probably ask you guys once I submit this online
Okay, with my current interpretation of this question, its impossible to solve. So I'll take another interpretation of the question's English

3:13 PM
@YiJiang Oooh, physics.

Q: Disable all the idiot-checking in Mac OS X

Fake NameI am a Windows/Linux user, who is learning Mac OS X out of interest in doing dev-work for the iPad which I recently purchased. However, OS X is driving me nuts by trying to protect all it's system files, hiding all of the important OS components I want to tweak, and generally making it impossible...

@ChrisF Heh :P

Hopefully showing you the question after I submitted the work isn't some contravention of school rules

@YiJiang We might go to your school one day, it'll give us unfair advantage! :o

@TimStone Not even that, the questions are randomized for every test
I think this is the only one I got wrong

3:17 PM
Oh wow, it's amazing how quickly you can forget things once you don't do them.

I HAVE FINALLY RETURNED

\o/

3:31 PM
@YiJiang I feel like the answer is D, but I'd definitely have to go find my notes on this to be anywhere close to confident. :P

I am here to disrupt your conversation.

@Whom Beholdened

yo @TheOutOfStarsException
also, gource seems to have frozen while "reading log" ):

@RebeccaChernoff Hello there. I have seen nothing but server migration all week, LOL

3:41 PM
@RebeccaChernoff You were trying out that MSO question about visualizing SO?

@RebeccaChernoff So far there's only one person signed up for the Philadelphia one. I demand you relocate people and force them to attend!

@RebeccaChernoff This is awesome! Too bad it's right after I will be moving, it may be difficult for me to attend. Also I may be moving to an area where there are no other SOers

awwww man, the default options print out labels, gonna have to look at the options pfffffft
@TimStone this person does not appear to be you - so really there should be 2 people signed up!
@TheOutOfStarsException someone wanted to know which PF Chang's to go to q:

You should just add random flags until it starts to work.

Q: Tag wiki edit titles don't show up in the reputation drop down.

ChrisFSee here: I added some tag wikis to Super User which show up as +2 on my drop down, but there's no text to indicate what I got the edit for. They're also missing from the reputation page of my profile:

3:44 PM
I don't know if I can attend, I don't want to taunt people with my presence unnecessarily.

@ChrisF Seen that bug too, but I reported in chat instead of on MSO. Gosh I'm a moron...

@RebeccaChernoff AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ChrisF Aww, the MicroDashboard even has the same bugs that /recent did. They really do care!

OK, I have to somehow make it to that @RebeccaChernoff
It must have been Chris asking that

ha, it's only gotten up to 6/2008 so far

3:49 PM
Well @RebeccaChernoff you have just given me a very good reason not to move to Asheville, NC... LOL

Is there a PF Changs in Asheville, NC?

Hum, I just spotted someone that has all his question starting with either "PHP newbie question -" or "jQuery problem : "
Should I edit that ?

I just created a brand new Meetup account. Why does it feel I might be interested in the "Triangle Gay Professionals" meetup? All it knows about me is my email, made-up password, and that I am interested in the SO meetup. LOL
5
@RebeccaChernoff There is not! I seriously do consider this a major disadvantage

It uses geo location to spam the heck outta ya q:

But what made it think I was gay? LOL

3:58 PM
@TheOutOfStarsException I'd be more surprised if it asked me to join the Tea Party meetup when I joined (not that it did, but it would be hilarious)

Don't get me started on them @YiJiang :-)

@TheOutOfStarsException Could it be your Gravatar image ;)

4:13 PM
@ChrisF lmao

4:29 PM
@TheOutOfStarsException JOSH! YOU'RE ALIVE! :)

4:44 PM
Happy Purim folks!

Hi @The , nice to see you alive?
To answer your question:

I like all the other options I've specified, but gource is not respecting the seconds per day parameter...or I am doing it wrong |:

1. Go to any of your chat messages

@RebeccaChernoff what are you working on?

@What - Be nice.

@Moshe just kidding because of his pink gravatar.

@What It's purple.

@Moshe and I just saw ChrisF beat me to it :)

ShahryarCan somebody give full source code of drawing a sphere with OPENGL? Thanks,

I'm fully expecting to get down-voted for my answer to this.

4:49 PM
@ChrisF that's the kind of question we should retag with [plz-give-me-teh-codez]

@Myself I suspect that they actually want the underlying code - hence my answer

It's very glow-y :o

A: Are there ways to visualize the dynamics of a Stack Exchange site?

Yi JiangIn the same spirit as amelvin's answer, except this time we're pulling data from the API, so we can ignore all the cruft like 'tag' and 'ago', here's a few interesting ones (Hover for description): Any other suggestions for this is of course welcome

The comments one is pretty funny

4:51 PM
lawlz, answer without question

You can see Skeet's name just on the right edge

"gas"? The hell?

@TimStone No idea

it probably goes along with "station"

This would be a lot easier if each time I ran gource, it didn't take 8 minutes of processing before the action starts.

4:53 PM
Here's a tiny excerpt of the madness that's all of SO's top comments squashed together:

"never Google programmer", heheh.

> Worth noting that the spike appears between 1.2 and 1.4, closer to 1.4. Specifically, the spike is at .1337 :D I think the guy in the picture just found out that at his new job he'd be using Lotus Notes... Greetings from Bobby Tables. @Martin And hope that program is not printf("printf(1\\n2\\ .... +1 for incorporating Paris Hilton in your answer. holy crap, it's John Resig! won't the answer with the fewest votes be the most controversial :)?

Hah :P

If a single query can answer your question then just ask a deeper question. Google is a valuable tool. By everyone, your boss means himself. To understand recursion, you first need to understand recursion :) Outstanding work! - Thank you!

5:06 PM
@ChrisF I will tell Mrozek you said that ;-)
@Jacob I am back from the dead, yes
@What ROFLOL, indeed, I guess Mrozek's gravatar FAIL
Time for THE MOSHE EXCEPTION!
EVERYBODY REFRESH!

Someone validate me here...if I represent about ~3 years with "seconds per day" = "0.1", that's how long?

I don't understand the question?
I just noticed that this may be the most starred item EVAR:

go @drachenstern!

@TheOutOfStarsException "Seconds per day controls the amount of time Gource will take to display each day in the log file (10 seconds by default)."

There are 86400 seconds in a day

@RebeccaChernoff Uh? Wah-hut?

5:13 PM
So there are 94608000 seconds in three years

@ChrisF I knew that.
@ChrisF Didn't know that.

@RebeccaChernoff 2 minutes

@RebeccaChernoff ran gource?
I don't have g ource code.

It's definitely not using the default of 10 seconds, but neither does it take 2 minutes when I use 0.1. I've even tried 0.01

@RebeccaChernoff "How long should I take to do this?" seems like a pretty unreliable method anyway, hrm. How long does it actually take?

5:22 PM
Without running it all the way through, I think it is using a value of 1.

Maybe it doesn't do fractions of a second? :P

That would be contrary to videos I've seen where people mention their command line and it has a fraction. (;
Trying a different parameter format this time, let's see...

@RebeccaChernoff Ah yeah, it does accept floats according to the source.

12:22 started processing, 12:25 started video (huh that processed fast this time...), about an 1/8th through now...
it's doing something weird, because that's also march 2010.
It looks pretty cool, just slow q: Not putting up a 20 minute video q:

Just add some epic music, I'm sure people will stick around for the full play time.

5:34 PM
haha

days_per_second = 0.1f; // TODO: check this is right
3
That doesn't inspire confidence in the reliability of that functionality :P

Oh, nifty! I might have to try that on my project...

Yeah, it's pretty cool.

Hmm, but then I'd have to install Git somewhere.

5:55 PM
at least I'm getting housecleaning done while I wait for it to process each time lmao

Hahah, nice. I need to pick something to do, sitting here staring aimlessly at the screen is rather boring.

@RebeccaChernoff sorry had to make calls
running out to see homes now... catch you guys later!

Happy hunting

6:21 PM
@RebeccaChernoff My house seems just as unclean as ever. I think you're doing it wrong

I bet she isn't using the jQuery makeShiny plugin. It even takes a callback so you can take a nap and it wakes you up when done: $("house").makeShiny(function() { alarmClock.ring(); });
be sure to set makeShiny.options("maxWaterAmount") to something low; the default value of 1000 gallons is known to cause wet feet under certain conditions

@balpha Hopefully that parameter works better than the gource one she was messing around with earlier.

|:
@MichaelMrozek I am not sure why you think me cleaning my house would result in anything happening at your house.

@RebeccaChernoff You didn't say anything about your house; I assumed in a fit of generosity you'd decided to help me out

you do know what happens when you assume...

6:31 PM
My house doesn't get cleaned?

@MichaelMrozek Well, at least not before mine. I think making assumptions automatically knocks you down to second dibs.

7:06 PM
Grrr...I sure hope this isn't a cold/flu I feel coming on.
