@AidenBell, @TheUnhandledException Basically we have a process that examines tabular data and produces error messages, and we need to store those messages for reporting purposes. The messages have an ID corresponding to a rule, and are specific to a particular source of data.
The actual data that they look at needs to be recorded as part of the reporting process though, and the data examined is not consistent across all data sources.
@TheUnhandledException A given rule ID will almost always have the same message, but there are rules that have the same rule ID but operate on a different column of data. However, everything that operates on the same column with the same rule ID will have the same message.
It's also reasonable to reference the definition of the rule, which is non-specific to the column
@AidenBell Yeah, in the sense that the definition of the rule is stored in a separate table with a message that is made more specific by the validation process.
@TheUnhandledException Depends on the data being stored, creating a dead-row in the table might be better than a snapshot ... depends on expense/size etc
I guess the problem I've been struggling with is that I need to record the records in the original data that the error occurs on with specific data, and I want to avoid putting too much in the database due to the millions and millions of errors that will have to be stored, heh.
@TheUnhandledException Yep, and that's what I have right now. The problem is I need to filter the results on some of that data; my boss' solution is to basically just dump raw data in the table, but that will cause the table to grow quickly and makes things very denormalized. :(
@PopularDemand I have no idea. Bunny rabbit just sound cute :P Although neighbours of ours have miniature rabbits. They also tend to break at double the speed of normal ones :P
The recent chat feature that was added recently has a XSS flaw in it. For testing purpose, I created a chat room called <b>123</b> and has you can see in the screenshot below, the <b> tags weren't escaped.
