@Pierre.Vriens hey, there is no question yet about private reputation events as far as I could see, feel free to start one if you are not question banned. Should be valid question.
@ShadowWizard that's true, I had forgotten about this chat-alternative to reach out to you (+ deleted my comment already). Stay tuned for my new upcoming meta.SE question as you suggested ... FYI: since late Friday afternoon I'm no longer question banned, though there is still a rather scary (oh well ...) warning msg when I visit the ask-question link (like "be sure to not ask another stupid question" ... at least that is my interpretion of it").
@Pierre.Vriens glad to hear! You are really on the edge, but I'm pretty sure your new question will get upvotes. Will try and edit if needed, and in case I'm wrong and you'll get downvotes somehow, sorry in advance...
Being here in chat.... how is your dog doing? @Pierre :)
@ShadowWizard ... merci for the "support" ... I just "took the risk" (now curious for the feedback, feel free to edit if you want). FYI: I did nothing else then just preparing that 1 question since my last chat msg here. for now I just wonder "is it not going to be perceived as too broad?". Ie should I split it in multiple (followup) questions?
@ShadowWizard There are two purposes 1. See how many no. of mod flags without logging into my site 2. See how many no. of mod flags does any site get daily.
@ShadowWizard about my dog, still a great (also literally ...) dog, though she's is getting really old now, and starting to suffer the typical problems of such old/tall dogs with the legs (to start walking, etc).
@ShadowWizard merci for the feedback (and edit) ... and pretty sure the +1 from you also. Just 1 minor thing that worries me a little bit in your edit: are you sure this is to be tagged a "discussion" (which may be perceived as opinion-related), instead of "support" (which IMO is in no way to be perceived as asking for opinions).
continued ... Because 1 lesson I've learned about meta.SE: somebody who disagrees with "your" opinion mostly indicates that by ... an anonymous downvote ... and for obvious reasons that is the last thing I can afford on meta.SE at this time ...
@ShadowWizard about "age" ... merci, but I look at that like this: (a) the average age of this breed is between 8 and 12 years (she's 11,5 now), so whatever happens some day, we'll have had "many years of joy" (b) her father and her mother both reached over 13 years (we keep reminding her we expect her to do even better ...) (c) the day you decide to get a dog, you must realize the dog probably won't get as old as yourself (if you cannot live with that, then just don't get a dog).
@Pierre.Vriens yes, you are not asking how to use a feature, just how something works, in general. so that's a discussion. It doesn't matter for voters. (unlike bug/feature requests which are different.)
@ShadowWizard : about 13 ... I like "pushing limits" (can you tell?), so "I" am trying to reach at least 14 ... and worse then not succeeding ... is to not have tried. About "we": my wife is a midwife (www.eugonia.be) ... with a track record of somewhere between 2000 and 4000 children who have "her name associated with them" (that's my typical answer when asked about children) ...
A doula (/ˈduːlə/), also known as a birth companion or post-birth supporter, is a nonmedical person who assists a person before, during, or after childbirth, as well as their spouse and family, by providing physical assistance and emotional support. The provision of continuous support during labour is associated with improved maternal and fetal health and a variety of other benefits, including lower risk of induction and interventions and less need for pain relief. These benefits are particularly significant when continuous support is provided by someone who is not there as family/friend or as...
Not sure what the difference between this and a private midwife.
@ShadowWizard ... yes sometimes I hear horror stories (and often asked here then 'please change subject'). Time for gardening over here ... If you're interested, go have a look at DevOps.SE, the latest Beta site launched on Febr 28 ... about a topic that my entire career (and own company) is related to ... applied to mainframes at banks and similar huge organizations ... Merci for your help/support on meta.SE!
@ShadowWizard : 1 more before I have to leave : wow, that could be "part of" her jobdescription ... 7/7, 24/24, 365/365 her iPhone never sleeps ... and I keep nagging her she should be charging for that level of support (which she refuses ...). Au revoir!
@ShadowWizard Miracles happen ... even on meta.SE ... coming from "question ban" (a few days ago) to highest ranked here ... not sure how long this will remain, but at least it is a kind of encouraging "for now" ... Too bad that scary warning still shows up if I use the "ask new question" link (I'll just be patient for a few days to maybe have that go away also ...).
Do I like pizza? Euh, yes ... Hawai (pineapple) and/or that lovely spanish bacon ... too bad it cannot get delivered yet as eMail attachment ...
My (late) father used to put sugar on his bacon (really!), and I'm not allowed to combine Pineapples with pizza?
Yes I also noticed that about "Shog", but nobody probably realizes that right next to him there is "Jon", which to me right now is like thousand times more "fun". Think of it as "my way" of fighting back about what happened to me on March 10 on Drupal.SE (= a huge mistake by a super-mod with no chance to defend myself). That is: if you make me furious I get silent (at first), I start walking (with my dog), and then it's my turn.
fun on drupal: -6K voting corrected on March 10 ... because 1 user seemed to have upvoted "too many of my (popular) answers" to questions tagged with "rules" (and for which I appear to have become "the" expert on Drupal.SE (even though I do not consider myself like such expert). My interpretion: be careful in getting noticed as an expert in something, because if you catch too many upvotes from "a" user, an SE-mod might come along and abuse ... the expert. How nice!
Maybe a stupid question: I just noticed that OPer of the Area 51-stats question keeps updating his question (with new stats, etc), which a kind of invalidates my answer I posted to it (my numbers don't match anymore with a prior version). What's a polite way to stop that from happening, maybe even ask for a rollback? FYI: I'm not going to update "my" stats in my answer with each iteration ...
1 more update for today ... just FYI ... the scary "new question" warning message is gone ... possibly to not contradict the "nice question" badge I earned a few mins ago ... going from question banned to "nice question" in about 48 hours ... IMO that is close to a "contradiction in terms" ...
@Pierre.Vriens Just add a notice at the top of your answer that it is based on earlier provided stats and that you leave the answer untouched to support the gathering of evidence. Something like that.
That is the only we will be able to figure out what those stats are, unless a dev goes crawling through the A51 code base to reconstruct the requirements ....
@Pierre.Vriens hehe, really glad for you. Enjoy your moment of fame! :-D
@Pierre.Vriens fun indeed... but happy ending, at least? With Jon's help?
Remember, moderators are sometimes under lots of stress, giving their own free time, and only humans. This of course can't justify mistakes, but keeping it in mind might make the blow easier to digest and understand.
Mixtures of milk and meat (Hebrew: בשר בחלב, basar bechalav, literally "meat in milk") are prohibited according to Jewish law. This dietary law, basic to kashrut, is based on two verses in the Book of Exodus, which forbid "boiling a (kid) goat in its mother's milk" and a third repetition of this prohibition in Deuteronomy.
According to the Talmud, these three almost identical references are the basis for three distinct dietary laws:
the prohibition against cooking a mixture of milk and meat
the prohibition against eating a cooked mixture of milk and meat
the prohibition against deriving any benefit...
Personally I don't follow this rule, but all orthodox Jews do, and many of the non orthodox as well. :)
@ShadowWizard Ah interesting. I never heard of that one. Not sure why the rule exists though when the verses all say "You shall not boil a kid in its mother’s milk." They don't say "Milk and meat don't go together".
@Mooseman hehe, the bible is going through lots of interpretations from the ancient Jewish people who formed the modern Judaism as we know it today. :)
They almost never take the things as-is from the bible.
@ShadowWizard The main denomination over here is Jews for Jesus -- Judiasm + acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah. I'm not sure what books they use or anything though tbh
@ShadowWizard about those 600 votes: you probably don't realize that this user has voted over 4.600 times (just to put some context). Related thought: I currently voted there over 15K times (no typo ...), About 1200 of them are down, all the rest "up" ... Do you think "I" keep track of which users may have received "too many" votes from me? Even worse: with any future upvote I think "do I put this user at risk (for a similar correction)?". Go figure ...
My real issue is that "the correction" was from an SE employee, who somehow confirmed to not have ANY experience about the topic of that site. Even "accepts" (of my answers) were removed (nobody should be able to decide what is the best answer, except an OPer ... no?).
Indeed not suspended, my "revanche" = see that (bizarre?) calculation on my profile page (indicates how much more "money I want to get back" (before I consider my MIA-status there to be over).
