Hello Community,
Since long time, I was a "random visitor" of a "random website" called StackOverflow, stumbling upon interesting and helpful posts when googling for technical solutions. A week ago I decided to jump in to share some of my own experience back, and, I must admit, was quickly hooke...
As described in Diff is Hard, Let's Go Shopping!
[The team is] planning to open the floodgates and allow everybody to submit content edits on posts
Am I the only one who sees this undesirable? In fact, the more I think about it the more I think it has the possibility to be a really bad idea...
@Josh Well, sure. But I'm sure a lot of crap in need of edit isn't necessarily seen by someone with 2K, so I'm not sure I see the evil in letting lower rep users contribute by way of reviewed edits.
I like a good free-for-all as much as the next guy, but everything has it's place. This Tavern is a free-for-all and it's great. StackOverflow should not be :-)
Plus, I imagine if it got too bad they could do like the flag thingadongdong and just discredit people who repeatedly suggest edits which are rejected.
I ask MSO Tavern ... did i go too far in responding to a recruiter that got my email and sent me an opening for a part time desktop suppoirt position:
Hi Amreesh!
I was wondering where you got my information from, and I assume you have my resume. So i Was wondering what you though in there would make a good fit for a "Desktop Support" position. You should know i'm one of two systems administrators for a top 300 website, and would require 300k/yr, 60 days of vacation, and equity in the company to consider a transition to this position.
ok, what interesting things did I miss while my wife accused me of removing her files from our shared laptop while she's in Michigan and I tried to remote over her crappy room wireless/dsl and find that they were all fine?
@badp Was [asking a unix question]9http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/6155/can-i-easily-search-my-history-across-many-screen-windows), reading your answer now
@ChrisF most of the time i respond with "Sorry i'm not looking right now" but ... when they OBVIOUSLY either have a 10 year old resume OR DIDN'T READ IT ... i'll send them something like that
@ChrisF bah, one would presume that if you're developing for the phone and in silverlight that you're trying to target the desktop market as well ... xaml and all that
LOL, ok, now which one of you is using this sockpuppet account???
> @josh i agree with you its a really bad idea because if i had that privilege i would delete half of what you wrote – every_answer_gets_a_point 7 mins ago
We need to write a userscript that will translate random's posts into normal sentences for when my brain is too tired to frolic among his words to find the message. :P
@Shog9 I hate it when you start having those huge comments war and you have to reload the page to see the new rebuttal and then comments start folding...
