Soooo Today's question is... I liked this new post, and it made me think of a comment and further question. I wondered if it was smarter to go to the "possible duplicate" question, to keep everything in the same place, so I left a comment.
Normally, moderators are shown some things by default that even a high-reputation user does not see by default. This is useful in many situations, but can sometimes cause uncertainty about what the page will look like to a regular user.

@Frank That makes sense. That's why I come here-in addition to the good company and to learn cool stuff. Since it already had a comment suggesting it as a possible dup, I figured the next step would be somebody coming along and can marking it that way, so I didn't want to clutter it up with an answer or comment.
To be honest I find it hard to keep up with all the changes, and very frequently I have to go look at the privileges list to see whether a user (that I'm looking at, so I have his reputation value) has a certain privilege or not.
However, I still don't know what that user will actually see or ho...

@TravisJ There are certain penalties that are supposed to be put on users that post offensive/spam posts, that only occur when the post is deleted as such (by flags or mod). Also, when deleted as such, spam and offensive posts are viewable only through their revision history, so users with the ability to see deleted posts can't see them unless they want to.
@Frank That's one of my goals in my SE life - to be able to clean up old stuff and make the meta world less headache-inducing. I know I need a lot of years/rep, etc., but someday.........

@Frank - I've seen the opposite of that lifted jeep. A small truck which was like 2 inches off the ground with a bumper sticker that said "fat chicks make my ride scrape". (since we are sharing potentially offensive bumper stickers)
