I'm a little concerned that some of the "usual suspects" on MSO and here in the Tavern are so active. When I was in Boston, they were online during the day. Now I'm in Manila, and they're online during the day...
I wanted to know if it's possible to build an auto complete feature on server side (using ASP.NET & C#). Let say I have a class City...
public class City
{
public string m_CityName;
public string m_CityId;
public City() { }
public City(string cityName, string cityId)
{ ...
Perhaps my team and I will go see the nearby volcano (dormant, unfortunately) this weekend. Ultimately I may fly over to Hong Kong some weekend as well.
I'm definitely enjoying it here, though. So far it's been mostly work, but I just had a conversation with an HR rep here who's helping me find some sight-seeing to do in the area.
Weren't badges added to markdown? I can find MSO questions asking for it, and I thought I remembered seeing it at some point, but I'm not finding anything concrete now.
Wasn't it Winston Churchill who once said, "That is precisely the kind of incessant pedantry up with which I shall not put" in response to being called out on ending a sentence with a preposition? Then again, it's back to that perception difference between written language and spoken language, and he was more of an orator.
"playground of knowledge to learn from and contribute to" - "playground of knowledge from which to learn and to which to contribute" is more formal, but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue at the end. Maybe I'm being too pedantic with that one.
Same thing with the "SE" in the fourth paragraph, probably best to write it out formally (and link it). It's subjective, but there's a perceived difference between for example a chat window writing (such as this one right now) and a more persistent writing, and the nomination is the latter. Formality goes a long way with persistent writing.
Third paragraph... I'd be more formal with "meta and the tavern." Something like "Meta Stack Overflow and Tavern on the Meta" as well as make them links to the respective URLs.
@Lix Second paragraph... Can the Marshal badge be stylized as a badge with markdown? If not, it should probably at least be capitalized. Also, at the end of the paragraph there is an extra period.
