@GetAnswerWizard Did you link to the correct Q&A, if anything such a change is not being considered, there's no status-completed tag, nor is there another Q&A saying "it's coming".

he, I'm currently trying to check through my old storage - I think I came across the (slightly internet famous) Drive of Impending Doom - its a drive I have that runs for a few months, dies then comes back to life with data corruption.... repeatedly....
Apparently I had a data dump at some point. Or I accidentally found the drive stack exchange is stored on (shhhhh)
@JourneymanGeek Have you heard of a Drobo before?
they're pretty well reguarded for personal use NASes
They do use an unusual filesystem to enable some of the shinier stuff if I recall correctly
5:58 AM
(autoflagging is down)
Flag it manually
We will apply suitable excessive quantities of cleansing nuclear fire to the account.
5-minute delay for Smokey posts, plus I had already flagged
At some point I need to check what's the smokey rss feed for meta. I have one for SU which is handy
@Mithrandir not here, here I'm bound to be @Sha. But on Twitter I'm not bound to any commitments, so can become Evil any moment..... :P

On the bright side, my new ear cushions for my Bose headphones finally turned up, and they make my headphones feel like new...
I did purchase some earbuds as a stopgap solution (the old ones completely broke two days after I had ordered the new ones, and I wasn't willing to wait another three days for them to eventually turn up), and to solve the problem that caused the old ones to break in the first place (hint hint)
@JourneymanGeek Oops :P

@forest most likely sock of a bad user. And anyone can join chat, as @M.A.R said. Their avatar should be "blank" though, in chat.
@forest Users with "explicit write access" (possibly read?) in any room on the same server have their avatar shown.
@ShadowWizard ^
@SonictheWizardWerehog doubt that a network wide suspended user will get explicit write access.
Or hidden accounts, or unsuspended manually on some sites, or...
But yeah, @Pseudohuman is example for such a user.
@ShadowWizard Probably historical. This room has a ton of users who have explicit write access, who haven't posted here in a while. (It's also used for granting access to gallery rooms.)
@GetAnswerWizard Not on Chat.SO or Chat.MSE, and only then if their parent site happened to be the one they were unsuspended on, etc...
Charcoal HQ routinely updates their explicit write access list with frequent contributors, in case a certain specific troll decides to disrupt the room necessitating for it to be put in gallery mode

@ShadowWizard Better? :P
@ShadowWizard That M.A.R. guy is so always right it's getting annoying
Should we temporarily increase the delay for reporting posts here to 10 minutes? (It's currently set at 5 minutes)
If autoflagging is off, perhaps better not? That would leave stuff up even longer.
@Tinkeringbell Those interested can pop into CHQ

@SonictheWizardWerehog I feel adequately classified
Our Guest was once there, but it was deleted
@SonictheWizardWerehog Haha I remember that
I woke up to some adrenaline rush
The autoflagging fiasco reminds me of a time when a dial-up Internet customer had to pay hundreds of dollars in fees due to a misconfigured modem (it was dialing a long distance number)
@Tinkeringbell a lot! :D
I can finally see... the Light!
@ShadowWizard Time to cross over then :P

5% fewer closed (terrible unanswerable trash) questions is... not great, I would've expected a much higher percentage. Either the metrics aren't getting everything, or the testing group wasn't representative, or something... but I was hoping for double digits at least. If the 5% number is correct, we still have a problem. — Ian Kemp Mar 25 at 12:20

Q: Was the wheel invented before the wall?

AJFaradaySo, this extraordinary claim has been getting a lot of publicity lately: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQKrfGCd7I8 They say a wall is medieval, well so is a wheel. A wheel is older than a wall. And I looked at every single car out there, even the really expensive ones the secret service us...

How nice of them to include [half-assed] image attribution

No need to shout at the poor bot, it has enough troubles already being API blocked and stuff!
Board games probably don't include too much physical activity
@Tinkeringbell K!
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard Depends... some of them have been transformed in to 'living' variants, and can be quite active :)
@Tinkeringbell Oh, "I'll slay this avocado with my plastic sword" stuff? What did they call those . . . harping or larping or something
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard Nah... wait.
To be fair, everyone needs some kid time
11:54 AM
living ludo :P
Can I open my eyes
Oh those
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard Yes! Some are even worse, where actual people are the pawns.
@Tinkeringbell Yeah that's the variant I've seen
If there isn't some hyperexcited presenter they tend to look and feel PRETTY boring
I always preferred living table football :D
Oh nothing beats that
Except maybe ping pong
11:57 AM
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard Meh. The ping pong one doesn't come with a jumping thing...
Like that...
What are they called in English?
bouncy castles?
Mini-football jacuzzi
Hahaha no, it's not waterproof :P
Well we don't have those here
Though fun can be added on hot days using water sprays, I guess...
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard Time to migrate and drop by here some time ;)
Every piece of the set here is so hard it could be a murder weapon
12:02 PM
ouch... I guess I prefer the bouncy castle version!
@Tinkeringbell My vision of the future me is a successful academic arsehole who's always right and travels a lot

@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard every boring conference has at least 1 person that's crazy enough to also be fun to hang with ;)
That doesn't take the whole conference thing all too serious ;)
And does interesting research :)
And whose initials begins with an M and ends in an R?
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard I must admit I'm really bad with names :P

The Peer Pressure badge has been awarded 3947 times on Meta.SO

@AskQuestionWizard Whatever happened to the internet as a bastion of anonymity? Asexual space fungi welcome.
Two network featured posts at the same time, does this really work?
Web Applications needs one of those sidebar "disclaimer" bonuses like Law, etc. "Posting your mug shot as an answer will not unlock your [Google/FB/whatever] account".
Are Cesar M and Juan M related? Same last name, and an unusual one.

I was thinking more along the lines of goatse, but maybe it's just me
6:35 PM
@AskQuestionWizard To be fair, the whole thing was so hyped I'm kinda disappointed.
@Tinkeringbell Twitter is blocked, what was overhyped?
. . . too bad. The recent blatantly OT meta.SE post was probably POB but it was well-reasoned and articulate
@M.A.R.TheChemicalWizard The whole 'first picture of a black hole ever' story
Q: Why isn't the circumferential light around the M87 black hole's event horizon symmetric?

0x90After the revelation of the first black hole images, it seems there is a bias towards its south side. Is it because of measuring it from earth or is it something more fundamental in the understanding of the gravitational field?

Is this on topic in Physics, Astronomy, and Spaaaaace at the same time?
EVERYTHING in astrophysics is overhyped

@ArtOfCode The election site does not recognize that Stack Overflow en español election is over.

adding/removing elections is manual so I can keep the results there for a while
Yes, but other finished elections show as finished (Tridion, Data Science)

@Feeds How many times must the Feeds post a blog before you call it a bug?
Yeah, about that "statistically unlikely" line...
> This is statistically unlikely with a sample of over 70,000 developers who answered this question, to put it mildly. insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/…
The 70,000 developers who answered did not compare themselves to the other 69,999 developers who answered. They compared themselves to co-workers etc.
A sample of Dilberts comparing themselves to Wallys who can't be bothered with any survey.
Repeatedly mentioning sample size does not do anything to hide the painfully obvious sampling bias.
9:34 PM
Okay, this was all a duplicate of a meta.SO post that I didn't see earlier.
Pointless anyway, as SO spinning their survey as a representation of industry is right there with taxes and death.
10:02 PM
Let's go upvote Cesar's answer so he gets association bonus.
10:25 PM
@AskQuestionWizard Let's not, please.
But it's fun... Juan M got his association bonus when I dropped a bounty on his answer on Community Building. Which is why I can't flag spam on that site anymore.
The pattern of likes on StackExchange tweets indicates its audience is the same "super-engaged" group as for the podcast.
10:42 PM
or.. it's just twitter
10:56 PM
"Here is how association bonus works" => 0 likes. "Here is a meta-podcast of 3 CMs talking about insider meta-matters" => 15 likes.
The balpha post is still the most popular, I think.
11:24 PM
@AskQuestionWizard What's the point? He already has network-wide moderator rights, and association bonus rights don't confer enough rep for the 1.5 privileges that aren't awarded with the diamond
Election voting and answering protected questions?
Mod privileges don't confer the right to answer protected questions?
I was referring to election voting and skipping past the downvote prompt (which is 0.5 of a privilege)
11:43 PM
@SonictheWizardWerehog nope.
Good to know. Will edit FAQ
I mean it's easy to get around by unprotecting and reprotecting.
@SonictheWizardWerehog So we don't have to suffer the indignity of paying attention to a 1-rep user.
Because 101 rep users are that much of an improvement? 😝
@AskQuestionWizard Employees can go into DB and remove the new contributor mark
11:56 PM
But we'd never do that...
Well ... I'd never ask for it. I don't think the CMs have ever used it.
Also, having 101 rep doesn't prevent that so I'm not sure how that relates.
