@Tinkeringbell you baked? or your mom?

@rene Both of us.

Nice! Enjoy

I helped with the dough, she did much of the baking :)
Though I watched them from time to time ;)
@rene We will ;)
There's only a few left :P

now they look like burnt rubber ducks

They're 'oil balls' :P
Much tastier than rubber ducks, trust me ;)

@Tinkeringbell wow. Are you expecting guests ...

@rene Mom's side of the family is coming over... but we always bake around 150 of em.
Even if we don't get guests, my brothers will have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a few days ;)

I like them for a day but I'll be done with them tomorrow

Yeah, same here. I usually stick with one or two straight out of the pan. Though I already had three today, they're really good this year :D

From what I can determine from 30 seconds of Googling passionfruit tea is no more tea than lemonade.

True. A Dutch tv program dissected what is in a tea-bag once. Specially those flavored ones. They found bits that they described as bubble-gum ...

(with sand too)

3:31 PM
you ate sand?

@EKons yup. Sand was everywhere, and it includes the food. ;)

close to desert?

@EKons not close.... in a desert.
That's where we practice.
hmm... wait, maybe that area isn't officially desert, it does rain during winter, causing anything to be covered in mud... but it's full of sand, and terribly hot during summer...
Yes! It's a desert officially. :D
The Negev (Hebrew: הַנֶּגֶב‬, Tiberian vocalization: han-Néḡeḇ ; Arabic: النقب‎ an-Naqab) is a desert and semidesert region of southern Israel. The region's largest city and administrative capital is Beersheba (pop. 207,551), in the north. At its southern end is the Gulf of Aqaba and the resort city of Eilat. It contains several development towns, including Dimona, Arad and Mitzpe Ramon, as well as a number of small Bedouin cities, including Rahat and Tel as-Sabi and Lakyah. There are also several kibbutzim, including Revivim and Sde Boker; the latter became the home of Israel's first Prime Minister...
So the Negev got huge areas for army training, and many bases.
But not all is bad! My first gf was from Be'er Sheva. If not for the army service in that area, I'd have never met her. :D

everything has a positive side... :P

Better not to show @Bart this:
"The Funniest Joke in the World" (also "Joke Warfare" and "Killer Joke") is a Monty Python comedy sketch. The premise of the sketch is that the joke is so funny that anyone who reads or hears it promptly dies from laughter. The sketch appeared in the first episode of the television show Monty Python's Flying Circus ("Whither Canada"), first shown on 5 October 1969.The German translation of the joke in the sketch is made of various meaningless, German-sounding nonce words, and so it does not have an English translation. == Synopsis == The sketch is framed in a documentary style and opens with Ernest...

a little late though.......
the sun is rising on 2019 here

@Tinkeringbell very pretty! What's the scale?
@Quill the skies are raining on 2018 here.

@MonicaCellio not Tink myself (heh), but I think that bluish thing under the cupboard is Tink's flip-flop, and the black thing at the left is a backpack, so you can infer the scale (I guess it's ~1.5m in length)

@MonicaCellio I think it's about 1.5m long? I must admit I haven't measured it yet ;)
It's a bit shorter than me, I'm 1.6something m tall ;)
@EKons Good (but creepy?) Guess :P

@EKons didn't get the flip-flop at all, and all I could tell about the black thing is that it's some kind of bag.
@Tinkeringbell I was asking for ballpark, not precision -- afghan vs. baby blanket vs doily (ok I know it's not a doily :-) ).

6:50 PM
Happy New Year! (3 hours till 2019 here)

@MonicaCellio the right handle of the backpack is a bit visible, but that might just be my keen eye :P

@EKons your eye is much keener than mine. :-)

@MonicaCellio Hahaha. To be honest, no one measures blankets that way over here ;) it's bigger than baby, though I wouldn't call it an afghan?

@Tinkeringbell I don't know if anybody here does, either -- mainly I was wondering if it was a baby blanket or an adult blanket.

Also, @EKons is cheating on the slipper part. You won't be able to find it if you never saw this before ;)
@MonicaCellio adult. I fit under it :)

6:52 PM
@Tinkeringbell yup. Again, very nice!

@MonicaCellio Thanks :D

@Tinkeringbell I AM VINDICATED! No cheating here. :-)

@Tinkeringbell it's not like the slipper is actually as useful as the bag for getting the scale... ;P

@EKons I'm amazed you noticed it. I didn't when taking the picture ;)

proof it's a backpack: you can see a ">" symbol at the bottom left of the screen, and, right above this symbol, is an upright triangle. if the triangle was part of the design, it would've been very irregular, so it's not part of the design and is actually a visible part of the floor. it also has the same pattern and color as the floor. this indicates that there is a hole between the ">" part and the rest of the bag. the hole isn't at the top of the bag (that's obviously its bottom), therefore the ">" part is a backpack handle, so the bag is a backpack
(ugh 500-char limit...)

7:20 PM
Hello. Happy new year, everyone! :) I have a question --- is there any documentation or meta thread which discusses what the mod-only faq tag should be used for? Should it only be used for questions which are truly "frequently asked" or may it also be used to curate a list of questions which are "must-reads" for a new user, to quickly get acquainted with the norms of a specific site?

Either. It depends on how you want to use it on your site.

@Blue on my sites we use it for the latter -- curated content that we want to be able to point people toward.

user437611
@Mithrandir Thanks. Any meta post for reference?

You should probably make a meta post "how do we want to use our [faq] here on QC meta", to see what your community wants.

^^^ Good idea.

user437611
7:22 PM
@MonicaCellio Nice! In my opinion, that's definitely the better option.

user437611
@Mithrandir Right. Good idea.

@Blue hint: you never learn SE 100%...

user437611
Huh, the faq tag doesn't seem to exist on the QC site anymore. Weird. I had earlier merged it with the reference tag.

O_O
You... merged the FAQ tag?

user437611
@Mithrandir ...yes. Merged without creating a synonym. Was that a mistake? :P

7:34 PM
....RIP FAQ tag

user437611
I had an impression that it's possible to create custom mod-only tags.

user437611
@Mithrandir Eeeh.

@Blue nuh-uh

as a general rule, you should never merge mod-only tags
...ask me how I know this

How do you know this?

user437611
7:37 PM
@Shog9 How do you know that? :P

9
A: What happened to the [support] tag on meta?

Shog9So... Yesterday, Jon Arndt found an obscure bug over on Super User: Normally, when looking at tag information, at the bottom of the screen, there is a button labeled "Edit Tag Info". However, when looking at [the slackware tag] today, there is no way to suggest edits. ... Turns...

that story might be interesting to @JourneymanGeek as well, given his recent adventures...

@Shog9 He tried to stop me ;)

NOT HARD ENOUGH
:-P

i think i missed something interesting...

wait... why is it possible to delete mod-only tags

7:41 PM
@Mithrandir oh, nothing much. I'm just no longer allowed to touch tags, ever ;)

@EKons people forgot that mods like to break stuff

user437611
@Shog9 Eeeh, that sounds convoluted. :P So...umm...my question now is --- can the CMs resurrect the faq tag?

mmm... not easily...

user437611
Damn. This is scary.

@Tinkeringbell I feel like Arby's:
@FortniteGame @Wendys What did you DO??

7:45 PM
@Mithrandir I tried swapping synonyms ;)

I did that earlier today... worked out fine...

There's this blue button that makes it look like that requires just one click
But it broke stuff.

user437611
@Shog9 BTW, any particular reason why mods are not allowed to create new mod-only tags? Is it just that there's possibility of misuse in case such an option exists?

@Blue time to pick some other mod tag you don't care about and move the problem? :-)

I suspect it's just not something anyone ever considered useful
@Tinkeringbell it didn't, actually - synonym swapping is completely non-destructive
but y'all didn't quite know what to expect, so the results were surprising

7:48 PM
psst... I've seen a mod who tried to merge a tag into itself... guess what would've happened
also, the tag wasn't quite unpopular, if you know what I mean...
looks like the fright I've caused has left everybody speechless... :P

I'mma go try that now

yeah, you probably won't like the results...
it's pretty unknown what it does, but it appears as though the tag would be burninated instantly

Happy New Year!

> Can't merge a tag into itself: a-happy-death and a-happy-death

oh really? disappointing :/
also... is that a real tag

7:56 PM
once upon a time, it was possible for moderators to destroy tags via the merge tool
that... ended badly

javascript tag burninated? I hope not...

different site, but similar

@EKons ooh, one-stop burnination? :-)

thing to remember is that merge is destructive - it erases not just tagging, but history for whatever tag loses. There's no "undo" short of re-adding a tag to all the affected questions

if you know what the affected questions are...

8:02 PM
And digging up the orphan wikis, yeah.

"orphan wikis" won't exist anymore... o_o

@EKons Right. That's dangerous enough by itself, but when there's no "winning" tag it means you've essentially just make it even more difficult to figure out what happened - you might have a big pile of untagged questions, or just a bunch of questions with insufficient tagging and no visible evidence that they were ever tagged at all.

@EKons oh, the losing wikis get deleted in a merge, right. Yeah, be careful with that.

and how are you sure is because of your whoopsie anyway?

you can't be. That's my point: there's no visible history at all.

8:04 PM
: merge log

if you merge A -> B, then at least the mess is constrained to B: you know all the questions are in there somewhere.
If you destroy A, then... They could be anywhere.
This is why I have such a heavy process before I use the burninate tool

yeah, three whole phases before Trogdor comes :P

Oh noes, serious discussion
Stepping back
