It looks like this needs a moderator with a big broom: stackoverflow.com/questions/26732172/…
Not the question, but the silliness in the answers. I have a feeling that this might be one person using 2-3 new accounts: take a look at the edit to the bottom answer - what's with that?

That's unfortunate. I only have a small broom and I'm not even a moderator.

Actaully, I should be in LQPHQ to report this eh?

@GreenAsJade use a custom flag

Hmm - whenever I've done that in the past, the moderator who reviewed it has swatted me :(

oh. Mods don't judge correctness, but they do judge sockpuppetry. If it's only a quality issue, ask the python room for a bunch of downvotes.
Or, you mean the deleted ones? Seems like a standard spam flag job.

@Sompuperoo question for you.
why'd you vote to reopen this dup?

@bluefeet skip needs more love ;P

@ProgramFOX let me get my red-pencil and review your work....

@Braiam i do use skip probably more than any other action in most queues. However he edited it saying it was not a dup and seemed like it was a fine question so i voted to reopen.

@Braiam yes. That is obviously a duplicate so I'm curious

@rene School is over for today...

6:17 PM
@Sompuperoo Did you read the dup? The edit is wrong, it is an obvious dup
I can edit a comment into many posts, claiming it's not a duplicate but that doesn't mean I'm right

> # Any errors thrown there won't be caught, so only insert code here if you are really sure it works fine.
@ProgramFOX hopeful start ...

@rene Yeah, because our except hook starts there.
... but perhaps the message can be changed to something better.
# Our except hook will be installed here, so any errors before this point won't be caught if they're not in a
# try-except block. Hence, please avoid adding code before this comment, but if it's necessary,
# test it thoroughly.
@rene ^ That is probably better :)

That will pass my review!

6:36 PM
I'm not enough into python to state anything really usefull ... but how come you are sure you need a new ws socket if you catch an exception?

@rene If an exception occurs there, it can be a WebSocketClosedError.

@bluefeet that's true. Wasn't an obvious dup for me though since not an expert at it. My bad.

@nicael Write a better question. "How do I melt butter?" is pretty crappy, unless you can qualify it with something like "... while stuck in a blizzard"

It won't always give a WSClosedError, but if it does not... it certainly doesn't hurt connecting again.

I mean, butter tends to melt on its own unless you go out of your way to keep it cool.

6:41 PM
@Shog9 LH answers should be less than obvious, right?

@Braiam LH answers should solve the asker's problem
LH questions should have a good reason for being asked on LH
How can I hold down a stack of papers in zero gravity?
How can I eat soup without a spoon or hands?
How can I shave without a razor?
How can I spread hard butter without softening it?

@Shog9 that is interesting

and of course, you should be able to explain why you're trying to do this.
"The queen will have my head if I don't butter this massive pile of toast in the next 30 seconds!"

"My religion forbids me from using a razor!"
"I broke both of my arms"
"I went into deep space in order to ask a LH question"

6:45 PM
@Shog9 dog's way

Lick it off another dog's face? Eh... That is pretty hacky.

in that case I must know the dog... I don't lick a random dogs face

@InfiniteRecursion notice how much more detailed and specific that question was than @nicael's? That's how you tell someone has a real problem.
"I'm baking CAKES, dammit - and I need soft butter NOW"

@Shog9 use.a.microwave :p

@Frank there's a trick to that

6:48 PM
what

well, not so much a trick as... Use the right container and calibrate the timing for your exact microwave
butter contains a reasonable amount of water; if it boils it'll throw melted butter all over the inside of your microwave

Well yeah. Usually defrost works
If you have a defrost setting
speed defrost is even better

yeah, cutting the power down gives you more leway in your timing

You can even put hard ice cream in the microwave and have it come out just right

A: How do I separate multiple 5-gallon buckets efficiently?

MoosemanYour third bullet point (Holding the buckets between your knees firmly, and twisting the top one.) is a good start. Do this, but drip soapy water between the buckets as you go. This will help loosen the seal and therefore break the vacuum.

people don't know how difficult is cleaning a touchscreen... really

@Braiam I find it easy.
It doesn't even take a hack.

@Frank oil?
or more precisely grease

@Braiam yeah, wiping it with a cloth with warm, soapy water on it (grease-cutting dishwasher detergent), and then wipe again with a plain damp cloth, til it squeaks. That's a sign that the oil and the soap are gone. And it's super fast. And it's not a hack.

Ah, Taylor polynomials. The friend of every person working on physical simulations

user259867
That is, the 0th degree aimed at your current position, f(a). The 1st degree took your present velocity into account, and aimed at f(a)+f'(a)(x-a). The second took also acceleration into account, and was damn hard to escape.
