hmm
@starball couple of thoughts here - its an 'update' and I'd almost say the culture of 'we can just edit someone elses answer' isn't 'natural' to a lot of people, and certainly weaker than it used to be
on the other hand, it does give Phillippe a little visibility on Meta and that's pretty important
00:38
on the gripping hand, I believe meta needs a little chaos

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda as I don't speak English at all, I quite don't care about pronouncing it as "Mem-See-Pee-Why", lol.

low-quality spam
There's high quality spam?
06:08
hm, the spammers seem busy today

@PetəíŕdTheSpringWizard I notice that you’ve got double spaces in your name now.
@ElementsInSpace yes lol
07:32
@ElementsInSpace What's your English level?
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda You should watch the whole series and check if she ever mentions SharePoint.
Surely she is oddly adept in pony names and lore.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact That is youtube for you
> Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
07:50
!!/coffee HamVocke
@rene brews a cup of cappuccino for @HamVocke
probably not strong enough
One of my former classmates used to do a red eye with 8 extra shots of expresso
@JourneymanGeek There was one that managed to add Fisherman to coffee.
as in...
THESE.
That is strong
07:59
hm
I always thought that was a south east asian thing
Fisherman's friend
and people ruin modify coffee in lots of ways
Even though I pretty much stopped upvoting staff posts a while ago (except very few), I just can't not upvote this, it's stronger than me. :D
@JourneymanGeek like the coffee mentioned yesterday? ;)
exactly
or adding butter or coconut oil to it
@SPArcheon of course! :D
@JourneymanGeek ah, so it goes more smoothly through the digestive system?
@JourneymanGeek Well, I once said I was studying some basic of tea ceremony, you could join @Shadow in his tinfoil hat theories.
Maybe I live there, who knows?
08:22
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda oh you should add castor oil for that
But they claim it helps you focus better or something
hehe, that would make a mess. :D
pinch from @Pet causing a chain response
08:38
throwing the result on @Pet
Noob question... If I buy a new activity tracker with bluetooth 5.1, will it connect to my phone which has 5.0?
Or does the 'backwards compatibility' only work when the phone has the highest version?
yes
it should 'just' work
Some capabilities might be inactive, and/or the connection might be slower
but for a activity tracker I don't feel like it needs to go plaid
08:53
@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard I’m a native speaker of Australian English, I think that corresponds to C2 level.
@ElementsInSpace wow, very good
I'm B1+
@JourneymanGeek Yeah, same. As long as it counts steps, tracks sleep, and syncs with the phone, I'm good.
Oh, and as long as it doesn't fail within the year like my past two Fitbits did.
Thanks :)
@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard I’ve noticed that your English has improved since we met, and it’s pretty good these days; there’s a few minor grammar quirks, but nothing particularly significant.
I learnt english watching cartoons :D
09:19
@ElementsInSpace thanks :)
09:41
@JourneymanGeek "Hi, I am Amanda Dora the Explorer!"
09:57
lol
mostly warner brothers and such
10:17
@JourneymanGeek hopefully you, like, didn't learn all you know from, like, Shaggy Rogers...
@ElementsInSpace agree, +1
@JourneymanGeek we can see dat
;)
10:35
Yosamite sam
I had a texan accent as a toddler
Yo-sa-mit-eh sam :D
Samsonite
@SPArcheon I see MLP, I run to hide.
10:53
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact and seek?

@ElementsInSpace specifically for AusE, it counts as B2 instead :p
@M.A.R. How polite you are.
@ElementsInSpace sorry, sorry
@M.A.R. No you’re not.
To be fair, sarcasm is indicative of high fluency
@Tinkeringbell this being Iran my devices have all sorts of Bluetooth versions, but they work fine.
Mostly.
I've never used one of them fitness thingamajigs though
@JourneymanGeek I learned English reading Finnegans Wake
@ElementsInSpace my friend says AusE sounds like fighting words.
12:34
It’s spelt “Ozzie”.
@M.A.R. I've had fitbits for years now. The first two or so, I replaced when fancier, smaller devices came into being (and I had someone willing to give me some money for the old ones). The last two have broken way too soon though, both have severe battery issues where the battery suddenly doesn't last much more than a day. No gradual decline, just straight from 'charge once every 7-9 days' to 'charge every day'.
I got a newer fitbit model when the last one broke, but that one didn't even pair to my older model phone.
So I've decided to go get something completely different and wanted to check this one will likely pair to my phone :P
12:49
@Tinkeringbell ... check android or iphone version compatibility for the app
@JourneymanGeek Yep, have done so :)
It was just the bluetooth thing that was confusing me :)
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact obviously doesn't know about "Saw and Pendulum" if that is their idea of "cursed"
13:16
@Tinkeringbell my mom's one of those people who hangs on to phones till they get extra spicy pillows so when she got hers her phone wasn't compatible :D
I eventually got her upgraded 2 batteries later
Hahaha. I've got an 'old' phone but it's not that old :P
Should be fine, the app installed fine and the thing supposedly works with Android 6 and up, and I've got a phone with Android 10 :)
(I'm getting a xiaomi smart band 8 if anyone wants to doublecheck things themselves :P)

1 hour later…
Lotta staff badges on the home page now, good to see
14:58
yup

1 hour later…
16:09
@Tinkeringbell I thought that stuff only ever happens to me.
It's reassuring to know that Europeans also sometimes get low quality crap
@M.A.R. Heh. Yeah, we get low quality crap all the time! There was a news article yesterday about how it's even happening with groceries.. like fried fish filets that stay the same price, but fish is replaced with more breading without companies announcing that.
@Tinkeringbell here it became a trend to shrink the packages, e.g. wet wipes used to be 72 in package years ago, then 70... then 60... then 50... and these days 40. Of course, same price.
@Mithical Aaron with SEDE stuff and @Ham with a single bug with a big impact, yeah.
16:24
Ham Burger?
yum-my
I didn't eat a burger for long time.
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda they're just conditioning you to need fewer wet wipes
You're part of a nationwide social experiment
@M.A.R. well it failed, as I grow old I just need more. :P
And yeah, diapers suffer the same fate. :/
So can't evade this. :D
I mean, not needing to go number 1 or 2 is a pretty cool superpower
In the absence of super strength or speed, I can totally work with that.
@M.A.R. surely there will be such implant at some point, I'll go buy/install it. :P
16:28
It could go into some portal and be launched into space instead
That would deter the aliens from invading too, so double plus.
@M.A.R. not sure, you might find out it has the opposite effect, to tempt them to take over our pity world. ;)
Or, they might just feed on our waste, so they'll let us live, just for that.
16:50
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda Oh they do that here too. Or even A brand names making their packaging the same size as off-brand products, but with waaaay less content. So you're buying air
@Tinkeringbell smart! :D
17:34
@Tinkeringbell so that's what "air of superiority" is
2
Heh! Good one.
