@AaronBertrand I know techie types being one. Pretty sure if it was broken, you'd be annoyed and fix it out of spite
> An example query that shows how long each table took for Stack Overflow (keeping in mind, this weekend is a bad reference point that involved me literally falling asleep; next weekend's should look a lot better):
>_>
In most places, falling asleep on weekends is a gooooood thing

@ElementsInSpace k. How's things going with your blitz rating?

@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard Absolute rubbish.

@ElementsInSpace Hmm, I can't know for sure. Who knows, maybe you're just lying. ;)
These days it's easy to lie on Internet.

Hiya. As the person who accidentally broke chat yesterday, sorry about that, and I'll try not to experiment with sending 4 million As in future.

(Would've shown up yesterday but I couldn't find this chatroom because I forgot it's on chat.meta.stackexchange.com)

@Ausername I wouldn't mind as such but chat dev has been on the backburner longer than I'm comfortable with. SE's occationally left things I find moulder and then sunset them when they were too broken to fix.
(the mobile app for example :/)

@ElementsInSpace hey, sorry for typing out these responses... I wish I wouldn't have typed that. Hope you didn't get insulted.

@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard Not at all.

@Ausername We’re proud of you.

@AndreasmovedtoCodidact Proud of what?

@Marco For sharing such deep knowledge with us.

I did not find it funny.
Breaking a chat system (or any part of a system) is not fun. Unless this is valuable for Stack Exchange, in the sense of showing bugs in the system.

Oh, well, then. Thought we could make a joke about it once it’s over, and the problem is fixed.

So your pride is actually irony? I do not think so.
Even because you are someone who who doesn't like the company Stack Exchange (according to your profile description), I believe you thought it was pretty cool.

8:19 PM
SE will be glad to get rid of chat, so yeah, better not give them the excuse they need. But there are so many worse things, that it really doesn't matter.
!!/punch
:(
Expected:

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda ? How bizarre, but anyway, I just don't want to be included in the "we are proud of you" contained in Andreas' sentence.

8:35 PM
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda Chat is an integral tool on the network. I don’t think this idea is true. Even upper management must understand its importance.

@Marco no worry, you're not included.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact actually it was true once, when they used it as their internal chat system, but they switched to something else since then, so chat is now 100% "disposable".
The only string that keeps it somewhat needed is the TL, but it can stay around while they shut down all the rest, it already has its own rules and handling anyway. (e.g. mod powers there work in different way.)

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda of course not, but I wanted to record it because I was uncomfortable, especially because they say that silence consents, right?

@Marco It was really just a joke. I'm not sure if you misunderstand me, though. I am not in support of attacking chat, or otherwise harming the sites like you did. I also understand you didn't mean to do any harm, and it was just a mistake.

@Marco dunno, I didn't put much thought either way - but all good, you're safe. :)
Maybe this will help.

If anything, you came forward to help resolve the issue. That's good. :)

8:43 PM
!!/coffee Marco
Can also tea if you prefer.

I prefer chocolate milk.

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda Internally, sure, but it's a necessary tool for communication with the community. As long as there are community moderators and curators, chat will have to remain.
But if that would fall once and for all, chat is next, yes.

@AndreasmovedtoCodidact ??? Are you quoting me ("like you did")?

Also, chocolate milk is great.

@AndreasmovedtoCodidact ??

8:47 PM
@Marco What? I just meant sending a bunch of As. I get it, it was a mistake.
@Marco No, I didn't.

You said "like you did", "you didn't mean", etc...
You in relation to "me"

Argh, whatever. I wanted to make a small joke. Sorry for causing a conflict in here.

Is English your native language? Because you wrote very poorly, if you didn't make another joke.

Thanks for the compliment.

I suggest you being more careful, as you ended up quoting me unintentionally, as you said.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact Ok, all right.

9:02 PM
Oh, I have mixed up two accounts. I conflated your account with the account of the person that I first replied to. I saw you both only briefly here, so when I got the first reply from you, I thought you were the other guy, and didn't think of checking to see if that was true. That's my bad

I have nothing to do with it.
On the contrary, I am absolutely against this act.

To be fair, maybe my joke would require some familiarity with me for one to understand it was sarcasm. I guess the person I replied to with the joke doesn't have that, as they're not a regular here. Well, my bad, again.

This is irrelevant. But ok, just to confirm, you apologized to me, is that it?

@Marco At this point, under doubt, yes. It's my fault that I mixed up your accounts. I'll apologize for that bit.

Under doubt?

9:14 PM
Yes, because you're doing more to fuel a conflict here than to actually resolve it, and that's starting to annoy me.
I have no more comment.

In any case, I will be kind and accept your apology.
Thanks.

@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I'm not convinced until proven otherwise that upper management understands anything
