Cool. SE mods start with 100 rep
@John YOU RANG????
Ahhh that brief period after beating a game when the trophies start going bing bing bing bing bing
00:56
@TimManishEarth What? The description says "Association Bonus." Are you sure that's a special mod thing, rather than just the normal "you have 200+ rep somewhere" feature? The real question is why he's at 100 rep and not 101.
01:06
I'm sick.
@John You rang?
@Tim So I ended up doing a "Copy To All Sites" from SO over to Meta, and it worked, but apparently I'm still getting @Tim notifications in my supercollider.
"Beware the wrath of Tim." - Some religious text. Presumably named Tim.
01:51
@TimManishEarth 101 is normal, for the association bonus. Even mods get that (check his accounts tab). :P He likely just downvoted something.
@TimManishEarth YES, I DID!!!!
@RobHruska But....you're not @Tim.
@RobHruska Oh. I see.
That's what I get for reading in order and responding as I read.
02:24
@PopularDemand Yeah, that's what I meant. The 101. Looking at his profile, he's downvoted twice so I guess one of them is on an answer :/ (cc: @John )
@John Even when you change your username, the aura of @Tim stays with you. For quite a while.
Popular Demand should be "Tim by Popular Demand"

Is there a maximum amount of time a site can be in private beta?
I thought it was always 7 days.

@animuson Yep

Q: List of Stack Exchange 1.0 sites

Tim N Possible Duplicate: Is this a Stack Exchange website? Is there a list of Stack Exchange 1.0 sites available? The Wikipedia article for Stack Exchange links to question #4 on Meta, but it seems not to exist.

The latter points to the former as a dupe, but its deleted. FIX PLEASE!
Woohoo!
You realize the latter will likely just be deleted along with it? xP
@animuson That's OK as well.
06:55
Wow, that's quite a lengthy list...
@animuson I WANNA SEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Jeff probably deleted it because they no longer put the <meta name="generator" content="StackExchange 0.9 (20100222071553-3ea628eeebda)"> thing in the HTML... which was his answer (and was accepted).
@animuson /wonders what happens if we persuade a mod (preferably Tim) to ban Jeff
Tried self-teaching "If I Were a Rich Man" (Fiddler on the Roof) on a flute. Sort of managed (had to refer to sheet music once which led to my hatred of double-flats). Now, I'm whistling it like crazy and banging the desk. Very detrimental to my programming speed
Also, its noisy
07:27
Wow, JS returns true when you delete true
Also, you can delete delete delete delete delete <xyz>

@TimManishEarth I have no clue what you're talking about. I don't see any downvotes. Perhaps it's because I'm not logged in?
@PopularDemand Summary tab, scroll down to votes section
You'll see a summary of the votes
Robert has 2 downvotes
Huh. I know the Reputation section won't say which answer a user downvoted, but I did expect it to indicate a -1 for "this user downvoted something."
@PopularDemand Nope, it doesn't
otherwise people would use that to investigate and verify against the timestamp
The rep section on one's profile is confusing to everyone but oneself
11:53
Pops-Perturbing Pedantic Problem of the Day: people who edit/suggest edits to "fix grammer" (and do about as good a job as the edit summary would, ah, suggest).

12:24
Hows' that one make you feel @TimManishEarth?
@Timjadarnel27 AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Yeah. I know. Makes me angry too.
Specially since I haven't read sheet music in a while
ANd I was using a different scale, I just was trying to grok the pattern of a particular set
got completely confused
@TimYiJiang Sign the petition! [star it]
Morning folks.
@TimManishEarth Sounds frustrating. I'm so slow at reading sheet music, it's usually much faster for to "fake it" and play by ear.
12:30
@Timjadarnel27 Me too :)
Anyone here have an Apple.SE account?
@Moshe Evenin'
@Moshe Maybe
Yes

@Moshe Congrats! :)

12:43
Anyone else think it's weird that the tabs in user profiles on Apple.SE are floated left instead of right?
@Timjadarnel27 Its Apple. They're wierd
Granted, but still...
As far as I've seen that's the only site like that.
.user-show-new #tabs {
float: left!important;
}
Apparently, it's intentional. Oh well.
@Timjadarnel27 !important!important!important
I wonder why its soooo important...
Any idea how to load jquery into a dynamically generated window and then load a script that uses it?

A: Jon Skeet's broken the C# tag stats page formatting on SO!

wafflesI just fixed this ... will be deployed later today It was a surprisingly easy fix: UPDATE Users set Reputation = 0 where UserId = 22656 DELETE Votes where TargetUserId = 22656 Works like magic :)

Haha, oh that waffles guy.
13:07
The music site is not looking good. 383 days in beta and 3.1 questions per day =/
@Timjadarnel27 Do you want me to step in?
(I sort of asked truckloads of questions on chem.SE)
Haha, that's alright. Besides that, apparently our community is fairly flute-player weak.
Your two questions haven't gotten any answers yet =)
@Timjadarnel27 Ahh. So then I'd be trading one metric for another?
Quite possibly.
I wonder if any sites that were in beta this long ever graduated?
Hmmm. Maybe my concept of "not looking good" needs to be tweaked. Or at least based on some kind of metric other than "my best guess". Looking at the stats of some of the recent graduates, I guess we are doing ok.
Oh, the comments...they're full of diamonds!
13:24

A: Does Stack Exchange crawl websites?

wafflesStack Exchange runs a bot that validates all the external links in our network of sites. This bot performs HEAD requests in a heavily throttled way. (it's the comment part of that)
13:31
Oh, I see. the URL in the question is just to bleh, which the bot picked up on.
Yeah, once this gets deployed to SO there's going to be serious backlog from all of the http://mysite.com, http://mydomain.com, etc, heh.
@TimStone Shouldn't Comminity keep a list of false positives?
Y'know, keep a meta post to report false positives and let waffles do the work
@TimStone So mysite.com will get flagged, but example.org (as the site exists) will be okay?
@tombull89 Yep
I suppose that would encourage people to use example.org, .com, etc.
13:38
@TimManishEarth Well, they aren't really false positives...those things shouldn't actually be links. The problem lies in the fact that the auto-linker has no idea what the poster's intent was, which isn't solvable without removing auto-linking.
(and of course that the poster didn't unlinkify it)
Yes third party developer, please send all of this credit card information to the browser in plain text. sighs

Right, and http://about:blank is nonsense.
@Timjadarnel27 I ran into something like that a few weeks ago, only instead of negative comments, it was more along the lines of being a little too critical with downvotes to answers.
@LynnCrumbling Interesting. You mean commenting about downvotes on their own answers? Or commenting on answers they had downvoted?
@Timjadarnel27 Maybe it's just me... but generally, if I'm answering question, I'll expect to be downvoted when my answer is just plain wrong.
@Timjadarnel27 Not if it wasn't necessarily helpful (but could have been)

/me smacks oracle in the head.
@Timjadarnel27 Hah. Funny that works.
I hate IE's backspace navigation behavior.
That workaround sucks for users who don't want/have the same profile on all sites (i.e. cool people with lots of friends).
What's wrong with it, @Lynn?
@PopularDemand it's nav'd me out of this forum twice in the last 2 hours.
@PopularDemand Did you mean "Weird people with positional identity issues"?
Seriously considering writing a bho that subclasses the winproc and swallows that WM_BACK message.
Interesting, I don't think I've ever joined an SE chatroom using IE.
17:50
@LynnCrumbling Yeah, I'm not a fan of that behavior either.
I switched to Chrome at work now (I don't know why it took me so long, I only use Chrome as home).
Curses! You can't search for "site:attach-descriptor" in Google because it thinks you want to find some other search term on the site http://attach-descriptor!
My life is hard.
Sounds pretty rough =)
@Timjadarnel27 I really should just remove the IE icon from my start menu. I use firefox for nearly EVERYTHING else, including my asp.net debugging, so i'm not sure why I reach for IE when it comes to browsing.
@LynnCrumbling That was part of my problem. Also, IE9 implemented alot of the things that I really liked about Chrome, so I kept forgetting and just using IE.
@Timjadarnel27 Obviously, it's a first world problem. But, that said, I am truly stumped about how to do this search.
17:59
What is site:attach-descriptor?
@PopularDemand I certainly wasn't invalidating the difficulty of the search. I have no idea how to search for that haha.
Something to do with Maven. I'm trying to figure out why you would use a packaging type of pom.
You use <packaging>jar</packaging> to create JAR files and <packaging>war</packaging> to create WAR files, but <packaging>pom</packaging> doesn't generate POMs. I gather that it has something to do with indicating "this file is a parent POM," but the specifics elude me.
Anonymous
@Timjadarnel27 A recent change is that pushing a name change across the network will reset your name change timer across the network. Once must wait for a new site to launch without the timer set, to push a correction back out. :P
3
No response, @TimStone? I know I didn't technically ask a question, but you're putting your status as a magical guru with all the answers to everything at risk!
Sorry, got distracted.
18:07
A likely excuse!
@PopularDemand: give this a whirl.
"site*attach-descriptor"
@PopularDemand It's close.
@PopularDemand Obviously, no colon...
Actually I think this does it: maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-site-plugin/…
Your way returned that result.
@PopularDemand Well, Maven assumes that there will be a distributable that results from the specification in the POM. If the POM is defined for the purposes of inheritance, the only relevant artifact is the POM itself.
@PopularDemand That is annoying, though. I can't find any way to escape/disable the site search operator.
To Web Apps SE!
@AnyMod, is it a pain to merge a one-time-use account created in Incognito Mode/InPrivate Browsing with a regular registered account?
18:13
site\:attach-descriptor also works, but that may just be because it ignores the colon.
...Rebecca? Is that you?

How was Awesome package from Careers 2.0 not immediately closed and deleted?
People want to dream that they too can get free stuff.
But it doesn't even ask how to get free stuff, or instruct others how to get free stuff. It's just a statement about one person who got free stuff that has no value to anyone. (The statement, not the stuff.)
People's minds replace the entire post body with "Can I also have free stuff?" to which people mentally answer "I sure hope so!"

It was funny to see Pop on the closing side vs. The Establishment. I usually expect to see it the other way around.
Also, the Thank you Jeff Atwood! post wasn't a question either until it was edited to after-the-factually resemble one, and that got featured.
(note that I haven't disagreed with your point at all, but by rambling have temporarily diverted all attention from the fact that it's something we should by policy close)
@TimStone I understand. I wasn't ranting at you.
@PopularDemand Why do you hate love and happiness so much Pops?
So many reasons. Including, but not limited to, the fact that I couldn't find the John McCarthy "You're Doing It Wrong" poster just now.
I guess it was under a question that's been deleted.
@PopularDemand Oh, I know, I was just playing the Voice of Meta for a moment or two.
18:38
@TimSiteisaForum Oh? I almost always agree with The Establishment. That guy is my MSO role model. (Well, one of them.) And even leaving him out of it for the moment, I feel like I close a lot of stuff.
It makes me sad that I can only see a partial total of my close votes, due to all that's subsequently been deleted.
Anonymous
@PopularDemand I should have qualified that. What I meant was "when you're opposed, I expect you to be on the opening side". You certainly close posts in agreement far more often than that.

My non-contribution aside, I am very hopeful for that site. I want there to be a site dedicated to a serious competitive game. StarCraft 2 and MtG could both probably be pretty serious if you had the right community, but we don't seem to and those won't get sites. Game of Go was apparently a failure, but I'm not familiar with that game so I couldn't really appreciate it (so I don't care as much).
Anonymous
Chess looks promising, and that's a game I could get into.
@TimSiteisaForum there's room for some of those games (like MtG) on the existing Board & Card Games site, too.
Anonymous
19:30
@AnnaLear Yeah, and that's fine for a lot of stuff, but I feel a lot more hopeful about getting some high-level strategy on a site that's dedicated to a particular game. Almost none of the StarCraft 2 questions on gaming are very interesting. (I'm not "high-level" at either StarCraft 2 or Chess, but I'm competent enough to appreciate high-level SC2 discussion.)
Anonymous
I should participate in MtG on B&CG, though. That's more my level.
@TimSiteisaForum Well, if we get on the subject of discussion, then no SE site will ever be the right place for it by definition. :) That said, I agree with you about the level of SC2 questions on Gaming. I think there's room for more there, but the SC2 boat has probably sailed until the next installment comes out.
