12:04 AM
OO open dialog

12:26 AM
@PlaceReporter99 Please don't

12:42 AM
Also good morning/afternoon/evening/potato

4 hours later…
5:28 AM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike well, looks like a few high-profile SO users got more issues now...

Good morning

Good afternoon

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike What is your time? I am in 08:42.

Time is relative. It is a contruct, partially arbitrary.
My time is not the true time but one set by politicians and...
Its 1:39pm :D
(my timezone is artificial FWIW)

5:40 AM
oh
wow

6:14 AM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike my potato returns your greetings

6:27 AM
My potato is a greeting
And a state of mind

Chips are a higher level of conciousness? Or crunchiness?

It's less formal. And more delicious.

Well, sometimes a good mashed potato with the fixins is good too

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike truth!

1 hour later…
7:41 AM
@SPArcheon pretty sure he seen worse...

Was that a good thing or a bad thing?

@PlaceReporter99 yeah great way to get suspended. Good work.
Saves the need to strike.

Wait, getting suspended means you support the strike? :D

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike well, you don't take part in curating, so kind of. ;)

Could someone say this out loud? I see SO much potential for petty annoyance here

7:46 AM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike that he have seen worse? Well, guess it's good for him, bad for his mother who don't like those things, e.g. she even doesn't allow the daughter (who is more into reading) to read books that might contain "inappropriate" contents.

8:11 AM
lol tabs are too close to each other. :D

8:44 AM
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack I never got why parents do this TBH. Maybe I will when I become a parent.
She will find "inappropriate" things, and it will not be at the time of the parent's choosing.

9:01 AM
@M.A.R. forbid the kids from reading certain books? I agree to some limit, there's a line. But problem is, the line is different for each person.
@M.A.R. of course, it's more of making a point, and letting her know that it's inappropriate.
That said, she did see No Hard Feelings movie recently, wife didn't check what the movie is about. lol

1 hour later…
10:22 AM
Feeds from MSE are not here?

10:44 AM
@PetLinux nope, don't see need to add it here. (if you mean post any new question here)

11:09 AM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike That MDN AI Explain has been paused. From github.com/mdn/yari/commit/…
> Due to a controversial disscussion of this feature we're pausing it not. We'll look into it after the weekend.
Two typos in two sentences. Ok, I suppose they were in a rush to post that notice, but their lack of attention to detail is disturbing.

11:32 AM
Well, he should use ChatGPT. No typos.

@PM2Ring this seems a common thread

What's that project anyway? @PM2

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack Mozilla Developer Network Web docs...
so nothing much. JUST A MAJOR SOURCE OF INFORMATION FOR WEB DEVS.

And how would AI help in that?

🤖🤖🤖

11:46 AM
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack Poorly

1 hour later…
12:58 PM
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack Please see the link that Journey posted: chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/9562786#9562786 This AI "feature" is disastrous. The MDN docs are the primary docs for Web stuff: HTML / CSS / JavaScript and also SVG. They're much more user friendly than the official W3C docs. Polluting those docs with ChatGPT hallucinations is batshit insanity.

@PM2Ring You have to call Journeyman as Journeyman, not Journey! :D

1:25 PM
@PetLinux as long as everyone involved groks, its fine. No need to badger over it 🦡

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike ok

1:44 PM
@PM2Ring yeah, AI blind everyone, from ordinary people, through CEOs, and to decision makers in everything. They will blindly follow it to the very end.
Well, time to create human alternative to MDN... ;)

@Shadow What do you think about new Petlin's avatar?

@PetLinux very nice, did you make it yourself?

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack AI help me. :D

@PetLinux oh lol. What prompt?

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack "a robot governs earth" :D

also, Stable Diffusion.
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack yes lol

2:37 PM
@PM2Ring or maybe they're trying to impersonate Sir Hiss from Robin Hood

silly serpent

@M.A.R. His Snakehood!

3:06 PM
@M.A.R. Perhapss. I'm more concerned about their writing "not" instead of "now", thereby accidentally saying the opposite of what they intended...

@PM2Ring I blame autocucumber
and maybe stress

Definitely stress.

And the best part is?
Its probably neither the fault of the person dealing with the mess, or even the person who wrote the code (well maybe a little there)

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike they were most likely either got a fat donation from some AI company, with a side note "Do something with AI", or just actually blinded, thinking this toy is actually working. Reminds me of the billionaires submarine, that was built from actual toy parts, and they put their lives into it.

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack or keeping up with the Joneses
and honestly, its more fun when its someone elses drama ;)
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack sigh I cannot resist making terrible jokes about it

3:22 PM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike no worry, seen terrible memes about it already, most NSFW so can't share here. :/
But heck.... that thing was a miracle to begin with. When it didn't break.
I feel sorry just for the 19 y/o boy there, who was dragged against his will. The others were fully aware of the risks.

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack Thing with carbon fibre and some other materials is... they are strong, until they are not

haha saw the joke. ;)

Or as the running joke in my family goes...
"I'm not an engineer and even I know that"

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike that's not it, it's the whacky stuff inside, some cheap PS controller to navigate is probably the best example.

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack that's remarkably common
difference is what the redundancies are

3:26 PM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike and it's a pity.

and PS controllers would mean they'd be stuck, reports are it imploded

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike well, the navigator used wrong stick of the controller, submarine hit a rock, the ground, or a sturdy fish, and... kapoot.

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack maybe

That much we'll never know, yeah.

or that the material weakened with cycles of diving and raising and...
it happened to have too much
Oh, they will find out
Nothing helps safety like someone doing something stupid.

3:29 PM
But put anything aside, I really don't think that visiting a long sunk ship is reason to risk your life. It's not even extreme sport, you're stuck with four other people... can't be fun even when it's working properly.

@ShadowWizardStrikesBack Same thing they say about climbing everest

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike at least you're out in the open...

You spend a load of money, boldly go where many men (and women!) have gone before, take selfies and go home :D
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack If you die, sometimes they just dump the bodies out of the way

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike yeah, heard about it a lot, the cost of getting bodies out of there isn't worth the efforts, sometimes just not technically possible.

and in everest, its rich people going and sherpas doing most of the work

3:32 PM
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike actually at least from what I hear/read here, not only rich.
But yeah, the overall cost is crazy, probably reach $50k easily. (Flights, equipment, etc.)

3:52 PM
@ShadowWizardStrikesBack so rich or sponsored 😅

4:14 PM
That is indeed more accurate. ;)

2 hours later…
5:59 PM
Good night

6:28 PM
dooG !night
oh lol

1 hour later…
7:51 PM
I had a bad dream:
I clicked *Edit* on a post, but before I could do anything *Formatting Assistant* style edits had been applied automatically (as *my* edit), these were showing up all over in red and green. Some were correcting typos, but a whole paragraph had mistakably been deleted. It was distressing.
Damn these edit withdrawals, and this AI trend.

8:08 PM
On an unrelated matter.
"Every time I feed my cat I like to ring a li'l bell (alla Pavlov). Is this good practice?"
Has this already been asked on *Pets*?, Should I make an account just to ask this question?
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike

@ElementsinSpace there might be existing questions
and I'm in a wierd place with pets where my main value isn't in the topic, its with the platform :D
So I recomment the usual due dilligence
