Random SE question?
oh wait you linked to answer
My browser didn't scroll down, thought you linked to the question.
Well, it's probably gone now. The onebox preserved the actual text.
oh lol it's deleted. Reading the beginning now, just random troll.
@ShadowWizardChasingStars that's all of it
06:52
@JourneymanGeek so troll with bad grammar, not even a full stop in the end there.
How rude!
I don't even think it's a troll. I think it's someone who's either insane, or really, really stupid.
@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard you're too quiet, don't you want to come and see what we discuss here? :-P
@forestdistrustsStackExchange and that's exactly what most random trolls (i.e. not targeting specific person/site) are made of.
People who post random crap everywhere just to waste people's time.
@ShadowWizardChasingStars YOU HAVE SUMMONED HER!

Ah, of old
Naw, I mean @EleezatheOtherWorldWizard :D

ohhh, not enough wizards here, so no circle. summoning is ought to fail. cries
@JourneymanGeek same lol, just know there was April Fools before my time (or I just missed it) where all avatars were changed to her avatar. :D
That made her pretty famous.
@ShadowWizardChasingStars I wasn't that active on the broader network until later

@SPArcheon better than "Twitch Plays" stream 👏
also, what color is "Powder Blue"?
Powder blue is a pale shade of blue. As with most colours, there is no absolute definition of its exact hue. Originally, powder blue, in the 1650s, was powdered smalt (cobalt glass) used in laundering and dyeing applications, and it then came to be used as a colour name from 1894.Smalt has a deep, dark blue hue, but powder blue nowadays is a pale cobalt blue as illustrated by the examples below, which show powder blue as defined by British and Australian Standards for paint colours along with an example of one manufacturer's actual Powder Blue paint, and a consensus definition produced by an online...
@JNat cross site suspicious user, they just posted some nonsense on MSE so good chance they did it on other sites as well in the past. Worth checking IMO. Thanks!
@SPArcheon no.
But thanks for the offer.

I have door news! My new ones will be installed on the 13th
Hopefully that will mean no more drafts :D
@Tinkeringbell Good, especially with an impending gas shortage (closure of the Dutch gas field)
You have a heat pump for heat?
Yeah, things are all electric here, no gas at all. Hot water from the heat pump too. The drafts are mostly just annoying, like when there is a lot of wind, the whole place makes this wooshing sound all day, drives me nuts
We're experiencing quite a sudden gas shortage: sdge.com/rates/why-did-my-energy-bill-recently-go
Look at the graph - mostly stable for 2022, then a sudden increase this month.
Winter has been very hot here, so no gas shortages here yet. All storages are filled more than this time last year, from what I read last
Access denied ;)
But I think I can imagine what it looks like, we had a similar peak in August
> The cost per unit of natural gas (known as a therm) has more than doubled increasing from $2.36 per therm in January 2022 to $5.11 per therm in January 2023. More than 90% of the increase in the overall gas rate is driven by the market price for gas – what SDG&E pays suppliers to buy the gas on behalf of our customers.
@Tinkeringbell Your cooktop is induction as well?
18:41
Sounds similar. Consumer prices here went from 88 cents to 2,56 from May to August here (for a cubic meter). Can't find a good graph of the price per mega watt hour, which is the usual unit used on large trading platforms here.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog yes
To be honest I really dislike cooking on a gas stove anyways, so even if this apartment had a connection I would've gone with induction
Yep, once lived in an apartment without a gas connection to the kitchen. The landlord opted to install an electric resistive stove which is terrible for Indian-style cooking as it's duty-cycled rather than the intensity changing
I think we had one of those in my parents place before switching to induction.
Induction is becoming more popular in India as well. The vast majority of homes lack a gas connection, so the traditional way has been to deliver propane cylinders to each home. Those are expensive so the government subsidizes them; they've cut those subsidies significantly so having something that can always be powered pushes people to make the change
Makes sense! As long as the grid and grid operators can handle it :P
Part of the problem the grid operator I work at faces is that some homes here, when they want to switch to induction cooking, they need a 'bigger' connection. And those connections require different metering, and the meters to do that are scarce so long wait times.
It's improved. In the 2000s load-shedding outages were common in my grandparents' suburban home; now they're basically nonexistent
18:48
Or there is no more 'room' to send the extra electricity across the existing cables, and the grid needs to be made bigger with extra cables or bigger cables, which is an even bigger ask.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog luckily, there are few outages here because they do the calculations in advance ;)
@Tinkeringbell Same issue here. Many older homes here have 100-amp panels, which need to be upgraded to 200 or 400 amps.

The Most Loved languages are those that appeal to veteran developers.
@Tinkeringbell Similar issue with telecommunications. The current residents of said home subscribed to cable Internet; the home only previously had a DSL connection and most neighbors were using mobile data, so the (state-owned) cable company had to wire a new cable on the overhead telephone poles.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Eh, the panel upgrade is something different, you call a 'regular' electrician for that here. This is purely about the cable that runs to your panel from the outside, and the meter between that and the panel. So you have households that have had those panels for ages already, just waiting on the grid operator to change the rest
@Feeds wha, perfect onebox not by Ryan Donovan nor Guest Post!?
