01:00 - 14:0014:00 - 00:00

I did finish Minecraft, but I don't count that one, because I play it for the sandbox, not for the story.
@ShadowTheKidWizard same. I think I take like 1 minutes per page if I really like the book.

2:37 PM
"finish Minecraft"
there is no finishing minecraft
that's like saying you beat skyrim

@NordTheLoftyWizard actually games are where I usually try not to read the plot, but I do use walkthroughs when I get stuck, so bumping into spoilers. But trying to minimize it as much as possible.
Skyrim was classic example, and I've used SE a lot to help me through with it. :D
I don't like mods in games, I have no idea why.
@NordTheLoftyWizard one minute for a page is actually quick for me. ;)

@NordTheLoftyWizard you read 60 pages an hour?

@KevinB I did beat Skyrim. When there are end credits and "Game Over", it means you beat the game. :P

Standard font sizes?

@M.A.R. if it's for entertainment (and I like the story), kinda yeah. If it's technically, I don't do that though

2:42 PM
That why Final Fantasy 14 confuse me very much, there are end credits for each patch! lol

@NordTheLoftyWizard It still sounds really crazy to me

@KevinB :) I think the same yeah
@M.A.R. it isn't, because I try and think/visualize with as many details as possible what I read.

@SPArcheon Well, my version just arrived and it had a leaflet promising a flying pikachu... doesn't get any weirder than that, I think :P

yeah but that's just one quest line in skyrim
there's like.... 40 others

@M.A.R. when I'm really into a book and on "slow reading mode", I can take five minutes to read one page.
@KevinB which is enough for me.
I tried new game with different line, got bored quickly.

2:44 PM
@ShadowTheKidWizard yeah, I think I used walkthrough before too

a new game wasn't necessarily needed, 😋 for example, the staff of magnus line starts out as more or less a side quest, the civil war line as well

The only game I ever finished more than once, complete, is Final Fantasy 8.

each of the big dlc's introduce a new main quest

@ShadowTheKidWizard I did say it's the minimum amount :P I do worse but I don't actually take note of the time, so it varies

@NordTheLoftyWizard yeah, without it you just give up at some point unless you're one of those real gamers who can solve anything by themselves. :D

2:46 PM
My speed is around 10 to 12 pages for non-fiction, five to seven pages for double-column textbooks, and at best around 25 for novels

@KevinB well I do any side quest I find, but I'm not going ahead and Googling for them after finishing the game to see what I missed.

most of them are thrown at you via couriers being annoying

If I didn't find it, I assume it just wasn't meant for me to be found. ;)

I think that beyond, say, a 20% faster pace, comprehension will really suffer
No matter what those fast readers say
@KevinB I've been looking for you. Got something I'm supposed to deliver

oo what is it

2:48 PM
@KevinB those you buy for money? I don't do that either. I play what I initially bought, that's it.

yeah if you bought skyrim a long time ago you wouldn't have the dlc's

There were few exceptions for this though, Skyrim wasn't one of them.

most editions now days come with them all

@KevinB ah, yes. There's a new museum opening in Dawnstar. The owner has asked me to hand out these pamphlets to anyone I pass by
Looks like that's it. Got to go.

@M.A.R. per hour? That's around my own speed, yeah.

2:50 PM
i wish couriers could deliver the meridian beacon
then there would be no escape

@KevinB that's what I like in FF14, all side quests are neatly marked, including on the map.

i mean
that's certainly convenient
but in a game like skyrim i kinda prefer to just organically find things, than feel like i have a checklist on my map to complete

@KevinB yeah, but I also miss features like being able to break things, free falling anywhere, etc, Witcher style.
@KevinB that's true for Skyrim, but in FF it does feel right it's all marked.

the current modpack i'm playing has a lot of the game information findable via books. things like what certain enemy types are strong/weak against, how to overcome certain enemy types, which cities pay more for what items, when certain in-game calendar day events occur, etc
(though some of that information is also vanilla, particularly the in game calendar bit)
but mods implement the unimplemented events

@KevinB think I had that too, yeah.

2:56 PM
@Luuklag sorted

5pm, time to go finish the Omega side quest. Cya!

3:17 PM
@DavidPostill thx
@starball why did you choose to propose such minor edits to this 11 year old post? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/98022/…
There really is no need for such edits. It the post is bumped for whatever reason feel free to make it more inclusive, but doing only that serves no real purpose.

@KevinB I had a mod that did that once. But I think it was probably a side effect since it touched/modified the leveling list of every NPC, including the courier. So I don't know what it was, but the combination of that + another mod must have made that happen.

4:04 PM
@Tinkeringbell The flying pikachu actually was first seen in the first game, and I think almost every game since had its version.
Usually is always a Pikachu with some balloons
oh, wait, ERRATA.
Usually it is SURFING Pikachu.
Flying Pikachu was in PKMN Yellow.
While there were some events with Pikachu that have the Fly move, none apparently had the sprite.
so that is its first return since gen 1.

4:31 PM
@Tinkeringbell be careful when throwing the ball at a monster. Apparently you are teleported near your target when the battle start and player already noticed that can be abused to skip past gaps you shouldn't be able to cross yet.
Which probably means you can also cause some softlock in some weird condition if you go to places you are not supposed to reach yet

4:50 PM
be careful not getting stuck, fast travel is an option but you could risk triggering some event before intended and ruin quest progression

5:30 PM
@Luuklag I came across is organically while doing some research related to a recent MSO question and thought that it was worthwhile to edit even if it was really minor. I didn't think it served no real purpose when I suggested the edit. Does making such an edit cause any kind of harm at all? Does bumping it create noise? Does it put strain on a review queue?

6:39 PM
noise, yes, and bumping old shtuff to the front also often attracts new attention to already resolved or no longer relevant questions
not always a problem, also not always not a problem

@starball each case is on its own. What matters most is how minor the edit is vs. how old the post is. Can't give concrete advise, just use common sense. But generally, avoid editing or suggesting edits to very old posts unless it's meaningful edit. Even Peter (This_is_not_forum) is waiting for posts to be bumped before making his edits to old posts, and writes in the summary "question was bumped already".
wondering if @DialFrost is still asleep

@ShadowTheKidWizard ok :)
@ShadowTheKidWizard DIALBURN, ARE YOU STILL ASLEEP?

@starball (:

@JNat Cross site spammer, obvious spam in Super User today, but legit post on SO in the past, so maybe case of hacked account. Still, think it's better to suspend or nuke to avoid further spam from that account. Thanks!
@SmokeDetector k

7:30 PM
@SPArcheon Eh, not too worried about that, I tend to start over several times anyways usually because as the game progresses I realize I made some terrible choices XD

4 hours later…
11:03 PM
@Tinkeringbell is that the reason you're not digging for fossils right now ;)

I came across this feature request: https://meta.stackexchange.com/questions/97596/tell-new-users-to-read-the-tag-wiki
and I think there's a better post to close it as a duplicate of. the feature request's motivation is to prevent inappropriate usage of tags, which is the same as this much more viewed/popular feature request: https://meta.stackexchange.com/q/256114/997587
the post it's currently closed as a duplicate of is more general about letting users know that the tag wikis exist and could contain _general_ useful info- not specifically about guidance against misuse of the tag.
