Stack Exchange is dead.

@Mazura what now?
04:07
"2 hours later…"
case in point
Ah
Chat ebbs and flows
It died with Mos Eisly
04:19
Eh not really

Also if one makes broad controversial proclamations like that without specific reasoning, many people might see them and go "well, that's odd, not gonna dive into whatever that is"

So, anyone already petitioned to take ru.SO offline?
Why?
You're one of those that believes sanctions are going to fix this shit?
08:18
@Tinkeringbell Because we all hate russia now.
@Tinkeringbell Nope. But making their lives harder feels good xD
Meh.
None of this feels good to me to be honest.
As far as I'm personally okay with political discussion on here (which I might just ignore since I'm not really interested...), I just hope y'all don't make it too personally on here... (and well, be very careful if it's intended as sarcasm on this very hot matter)
;) Yeah maybe Dutch sarcasm is a step too far. I'll keep it in mind
08:38
This whole stuff has me signing online petitions though, something I'd otherwise never do XD

@RandomPerson sure, the app is long dead, there is no point at all to keep old feature requests for it around. It's just noise, with no value whatsoever.
@Luuklag only if Putin was mod there. But he isn't, so it's same as the sanctions against his friends. useless and pointless, and won't have any real effect. ;)
@Luuklag I have some thoughts on it
We have some mods from Russia and it seems unfair to tar everyone with the same brush
(also one CM)
Its terrible what's happened but it seems rather... performative to do that
@JourneymanGeek which might prove a problem later, if there get some real economic sanctions in place
@Luuklag I like that guy so I hope not!
But lets not create/find problems before they happen.
we'll just wait and see what happens
And keep in mind there's folks we know potentially on both sides of both the battle line, and well politics
If there's anything that needs to be done with respect to meta, and in extension to the network we'll do what needs doing but stuff like "did anyone ask to close SE.RU" and such is not helpful :/

I like Doctors without Borders
I also like Stack Exchange without Borders
@MetaAndrewT. but preferably without the sexual extortion scandals that Doctors without Borders comes with ;)
take a peek at the history of suggestive ads umm... okay...
Yeah, already failed, you're right :D

@JourneymanGeek Where is Joel with his impeccable timing for Taking a Stand...
@VoteDukakis Not sure that's helpful either
Probably as helpful as all those sanctions ;) What's the word for it again... in Dutch it's 'symboolpolitiek'
Literally translated 'symbol politics' is that a thing in English?
Yes, but I can't remember what its called

More to the point, ru.SO is not for Russian programmers - it's for Russian-speaking (writing/reading) programmers, which includes a lot of Ukrainians. Indeed, 2 out of top 8 users this year are located in Kiev/Kyiv.

@VoteDukakis Well in that case, I will do the thoughts and prayers thing. Not that I think God is still listening, but whatever. I hope as much people as possible can be safe.
