@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I'm pretty sure I saw that one reported somewhere... (maybe it got closed/deleted since)
I'd be curious to see the stack trace. May or may not be illuminating.
@RyanM tbh, it crashes if you look at it funny anyway
and it was crashing on android 11, then it wasn't
01:56
Temple Run 2 is also broken, stuck at 0% loading and won't move
02:16
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog ugh, I just noticed it... :'(
@RyanM Ironically...

Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder if there was some change to the order in which components of the app are initialized.
That'd surprise me, though: I was under the impression that ordering was extremely compatibility-sensitive and we couldn't change it.

@Tinkeringbell Thank you for that, it presents your concerns more clearly.
@MetaAndrewT. Why would it break on Android 12 and not 11?

@ymb1 The blog is helpful, good of you to have thoroughly researched; within the link you provided is this text:
> "Provide basic guidance on when to use the tag. In other words, what kinds of questions should have this tag? Tags only exist as ways of organizing questions, so if we don’t provide proper guidance on which questions need this tag, they won’t get tagged at all, rendering the tag excerpt moot. Think of it as a sales pitch: in a room full of tags screaming “pick me!”, what would convince a question asker to select your tag?".
Elsewhere within you linked blog it mentions tag mouseovers:
@RyanM that's the lowest stack trace from the app. Lower than that is about GMS thingy, not sure if it may help

There is now a small, informative tooltip that appears when you hover your mouse on a tag. The primary goal is to make it easier to follow a particular tag: Click subscribe to receive a daily email summary of new questions in this tag. Click again to unsubscribe. Of course, every email we send will…
But the image included really doesn't accurately reflect what everyone sees:
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog good question actually, I can't find why this happens or if it's specifically about Android 12 or some random occurrences...
Rob
Rob
That's what it looks like on MSE and MSO, an edit that improves the tag should condense the usage into that area.
This was last discussed here in The Tavern several weeks ago, I appreciate that you are not here that often.
02:47
@MetaAndrewT. Is anyone importing Pixel 5a phones to Indonesia from Japan?
It's exclusive to the U.S. and Japan markets
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog seems so... I just checked a popular Indonesian online marketplace and there are some shops that sell Pixel 5a.
I'm gonna guess Pixel devices only hold a tiny amount of market share outside of North America...we don't have Xiaomi here, and I'm guessing they're in the top 5 in Indonesia
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I think your guess is correct :)

@Rob "an edit that improves the tag should condense the usage into that area. This was last discussed here in The Tavern several weeks ago" -- I would not use the term should for something that was allegedly discussed weeks ago and is now buried in a chat room when it's something that affects the entire network.
The popup looks fine here, but apparently not good enough on mobile in your screenshot, which would be something to perhaps report or request as a FR.

so much for "deleted within seconds".... :P
@JNat very active cross site spammer on the roll... thanks!
hmm so weird. Tavern has almost 0 activity... spam live for over half hour, not on a very small site.... is it holiday around the world? :/

Turns out Google Docs is really terrible, compared to Microsoft Word. It's good for writing text, but there it ends. Can't even add simple textbox.
Rare occasion where Microsoft has much better product than Google.
(yeah I know I can add textbox via "drawing" but this is terribly complicated, freezing the browser, and not needed for just one simple textbox, it's beyond silly.)
!!/nuke Google Docs
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 No such command 'nuke'.

@ymb1 Your screenshot is the "after the fact" tooltip, where you not only get a much larger text area but can easily click on the tag. My screenshot in the previous comment is clearly the "Ask Question" page, where you need the information the most and clicking on the tag takes you off the ask question page; risking an incomplete save of your draft and loss of your work.
@Rob: still no
^ ask question page ^
still it doesn't change what I wrote: 1) I would not use the term should 2) which would be something to perhaps report or request as a FR.
Rob
Rob
@ymb1 That happens often, enough people saw it and are aware of it (and many other things); someday all will be accomplished and there'll be little left to do - we only had one shoulder surfer in our conversation,but there were a number of people present (who work here) and didn't take it upon themselves to intervene.
@ymb1 You definitely get a few extra words.
I'm on a small screen now, FWIW
Rob
Rob
... and I'm on a huge one (almost 4K).
It's a retina display, so the CSS isn't correctly determining the width, so the webpage is served as though my screen is smaller. That bug was reported years ago.
and very honestly I'm confused, because earlier your complaint was that I removed the usage, when I didn't, and it has now turned into how big the popup is, which is something that is unchanged before/after I corrected the excerpt

Should meaning that I appreciate that it's not always possible.
also @Tinkeringbell since they were involved and deserve to be filled in ^

For example, you're writing for a tag about [Jed], but instead of simply saying "A very poor man who discovered oil" you start out using up the first several words with fluff:
> "Come 'n listen to my story 'bout a man named .... " ....
Maybe she will make the deleted comments available here.
GTG.
very bad comparison to what has happened
11:09
@Rob 4k is resolution, not size :D
(I'm currently on a pair of 27 inch 4k displays, and our 640x480 plasma TV is.. 'bigger')
Rob
Rob
11:44
@JourneymanGeek Using the "Find in page" feature of my web browser I see that "size" is used twice on this webpage. :D + oO
'huge'
You can have a tiny 4k display
13:10
.... why Microsoft docs have to be so utterly useless every single time?
13:30
@SPArcheon still must be better than Google Docs
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 like comparing the iron maiden to the iron chair, I would stay away from both, thank you.
out of curiosity since I don't have access to the "All reviews" on MSE, how common are the anonymous edits that attempt to fix the grammar but end up suggesting grammatical errors? e.g. this one

2 hours later…
15:19
@ymb1 The most recent example of this, besides the one you linked, appears to be this one. There are some others that suggest some pretty abusive stuff, some that are attempts to communicate with the author, and some other deliberately destructive ones.
Also I've discovered that the anonymous edit list in the 10k tools lists the edits very strangely. It sorts the approved ones first, by date descending (so most recent edits -> oldest), then it sorts the rejected ones oldest -> most recent.
@Spevacus very interesting and more than I hoped for, thanks!
I could dig some more and find more that do what you described, but I'd probably be spending too much time sifting through the spam/abusive ones, so eh.
I'd be eh too! thanks again

related to it, it remains a mystery to me how "hot topics" attract new score 1 users, who post non-answers etc. I mean if sites are hidden then there'll at least be 101 score -- site readers but not contributors (unaffectionately sometimes referred to as lurkers) who should have a sense of how it works wouldn't really decide here I'll contribute

post's source
I haven't been able to figure out why some links are bare, while others are formatted
in the source, same system is used
e.g. https://aviation.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/4253 vs https://meta.askubuntu.com/questions/19733
I'm thinking there's something that's too subtle that I'm not seeing
@cairdcoinheringaahing 👍

Rob
19:41
@ymb1 The 'system' is varied, between: ../questions/X and ../q/X and ../q/X/Y and two others (one erroneously formed), see: meta.stackexchange.com/revisions/… - why each system has various results is the question, probably the huge mixture produces a result that some remain bare and some are converted. Kind of an apples, oranges, grapefruit, and potato comparison. @cai
see @arjan 's comment, we never updated this to work with the shortened answer links. — Jeff Atwood Apr 5 '12 at 23:14
None of the links are answers, and it definitely works with shortened question links
Rob
Rob
One of them is:
@anybody-using-google-logins, do you have a login labeled “Google”, or is that just me? (Go to your profile page, then click “Settings”, then click “My logins” to look at what I’m talking about)
there's like a SE section and a Google section
Rob
Rob
can't edit it so it's visible, but the user # is "p".
19:52
@Mithical in the google section there’s a login named “Google”, as well as some logins named “[email address]” (at least for me), I’m asking if anybody else has that login.
@Rob Remember, question links can also have titles after them, e.g. meta.stackexchange.com/questions/370964/…, which still point to the same place if changed: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/370964/foobar, so I think that, unless its a user id that works, SE just ignores anything past the site.stackexchange.com/postid/
@Mithical interesting, you have a login under stack exchange labeled, “Stack Exchange”, and I have a login under Google labeled “Google”. Thanks for your help.
20:12
The link in this comment isn’t working for me, does it work for anybody else?
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica fixed
20:45
When you had one badge of a certain color (gold, silver, or bronze), was that badge previously at the top of the badge section? (I’m asking because currently, it’s at the bottom
Yeah, I noticed that too - definitely used to be at the top
Looks like it was intentional.

@ymb1 If I copy the post's source, paste it raw to an answer box, and wait a minute, the bare URLs are 100% converted; while in the original some are converted and some are not @cai - 2x1 Grid of screenshot
@Rob it's explained in @cairdcoinheringaahing 's reply (the linked comment)

Maybe meta.stackexchange.com/a/108475/307535 explains the link text conversion? — Jeff Schaller Sep 25 at 9:56
or rather the linked post in the linked comment under the answer I asked about :)
Rob
Rob
That didn't seem to explain why your link sometimes converts, sometimes not; yet I got 100% conversion for a copy - but I'll read it again.
@ymb1 meta.stackexchange.com/a/108475/282094 "c) On Meta Stack Exchange, all sites work." --- WFM, but not for the post you linked to.
IE: meta.stackexchange.com/a/369914/282094 is partially broken.
> Links to other sites are limited to

a) 5 linked-to sites and
b) N questions per target site, where N is 200 on meta sites (was 40 at the time this question was asked) and 10 on non-metas (this is about the site that the post containing the link is posted on, not the site that is being linked to)
other sites from MSE
If you post the answer, it won't render
It will be like the answer w/ the table
If MSE has a sandbox area, you can test it there
similar to the bug where the preview works but not after posting when you surround the short link with quotes with no spaces

@ymb1 Tested and deleted, true. I guess the workaround is to use [] () with the current title and leave it incorrect if the title is edited.

But your linked to post supported approx 2x as many conversions as mine did; I got hung up at half a dozen, while yours did OK at the start and then was littered with occasional conversions totalling over a dozen up to the end of the post.
Mine certainly had more answers on the webpage, causing a lot of work to render its loading.
