7:00 PM
(whyyyy do people post these?)

It's seemingly only on Meta as well.

and why does it seem to be only on...yeah, that

Selfie is gone... not the ugliest one I've seen though. I should start a collection!

Considered making an FR such that image-only posts made by users with new-user restrictions will be blocked. My concern is that users will just insert gibberish text to get past the filter.

I think the request is actually already there somewhere.

Glorfindel's deleted answer there is pretty funny.

Just a tiny bit :P

Hm, JNat's comment suggests retagging as status-review if there's an uptick in them.

one more isn't an uptick :P
If there's 10 more in the next 48 hours, lemme know :P

I was just about to say that we have electronic household devices designed to keep you safe from fires that could be helpful in checking that out...
One second!

@Tinkeringbell grabs front-facing camera
That can be arranged...

7:06 PM
@RyanM Actually... mabye we should just have a fun post where everyone that wants to can paste their selfie!

Then we can turn it into a 'vleeskeuring' too XD
Would be hell to moderate, I guess XD

...is "meat inspection" the correct translation of that? That's what the internet is telling me...

@RyanM Yeah... I don't know if there's an English word for it, but it's just judging and ranking people based on appearance :)
I like that Dutch has a word for it :)

Hmmm. "beauty contest" is the closest I can get in English, though I like the Dutch version better.

@Tinkeringbell Much of the above chat was in reference to RemoveDeadQuestions.

@Tinkeringbell There's a word for the 'romance tour inspection' (has been called "Cattle Call" in National Lampoon's movie) but I can't find the term. As for judging based on surface appearance, we have:
Tinder is an American geosocial networking and online dating application that allows users to anonymously swipe to like or dislike other users' posted profiles, which generally comprise their photo, a short bio, and a list of their personal interests. Once two users have "matched", they can exchange messages.Tinder launched in 2012 within startup incubator Hatch Labs as a joint venture between IAC and the mobile app development firm Xtreme Labs. By 2014, Tinder was registering about one billion "swipes" per day. Tinder originally required access to a Facebook account to use the app, but it began...

Is anyone else getting a bug like this? Is this a caching thing, or should I make a bug report later?
The blue identicon is my usual one, my current pfp was apparently caused by the backfill even though I signed up after 2013

Rob
There's a report, and they're doing a backfill to fix the fix; which site?

Code Golf

Rob
JAS, apparently that was fixed.
I've just checked it on CGCC, and it seems to be fixed now. Thanks for the quick remediation! — Aaron Miller 5 hours ago

9:05 PM
Interesting.

@Spevacus That's a different one, I think, my identicon's the same on main and meta

Rob
Comment there if it's not fixed.

Whoops, sorry D:

I did

@curiousdannii yup, after investigation the problem goes a little deeper than just the cut-off of August 2013. We have a more comprehensive fix approved, but it won't roll out until Monday — Dean Ward ♦ Jul 16 at 16:51

9:06 PM
@Spevacus If you're replying to me, nothing to be sorry about :)

/o/

@MetaAndrewT. Ah, interesting

Rob
I commented on the main dupe, the blame; perhaps that permitted them to fix all the changes made at that time.

Though, looks like it's already Monday there and it should have been fixed.

Rob
almost the end of the day ...

9:09 PM
(I had to play some brain twister since it's already Tuesday here and almost forgot that timezone exists...)

Rob
They should have got you to fix it.

@RyanM I was just using the method outlined in how to utilize ALT image descriptions and how to set the HTML when no description is necessary (and want screen readers to skip it)

11:03 PM
Okay I see my error it should be ALT="" (to null)

@GWarner To be clear, you want to just set it to nothing. There's no ALT= in Markdown. If you have typed the word "ALT" when setting alt text in Markdown, you have done it incorrectly.
Same goes when you are setting it: Just the text, no ALT=
@GWarner I've rolled your edits to this post back for two reasons: Your first edit broke the post's formatting and added square brackets to it that weren't there before. Your second edit added an incorrectly formatted alt text that didn't accurately describe the image.
Please be mindful to check the post after editing it to make sure it looks correct.
