That's a darn good question, and I've read too much Lovecraft to think about it too much XD

Journ, Tink, seeing that the election system is being actively worked on, would it be fair to flag this status-review? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/350639/…

12:06 PM
@Luuklag Given meta.stackexchange.com/q/361979/369802 ... seems like it's obsolete now? ;)

Well I think they should take it into account
in redesigning

In that case, I think you might be better served with an answer on the question I just linked, explaining why it is so important still... a mere tag doesn't really do that justice and you're likely to be met with the same response I just gave XD

@Tinkeringbell yeah I'll do that.

@Luuklag Thank you :)
I realize it might be a lot more work, but the demo video also doesn't show any buttons like that anymore, so ... I'm curious to know what your argument is going to be too...

@Tinkeringbell what demo video?

12:13 PM
@Luuklag The demo video of the new election voting ui, fom that post I just linked?

ah there it is, kinda hidden in plain sight

A: Moderator Elections functionality: voting UI, commenting and flagging

LuuklagThanks for the update Anita. It's looking great so far! I do wonder though in what way you will display a users votes for previous elections, as it's current implementation is far from optimal, as reported here

Fingers crossed you'll get an answer. Looks good to me!

12:32 PM
Already got one, Yaakov was awake ;)

12:56 PM
@Luuklag Nice! :)

Case and another point! ^

Yeah I've blacklisted that username for the time being. They're getting the max amount of autoflags now.
If you're bored, you can hop over to Charcoal HQ and help me flag 'em down :)
This goes for anyone reading atm, not just Tink ;D

their removed now @Spevacus

woohoo

@Spevacus Sorry, not bored enough. I'm making a powerpoint, whoohoo!

I think the last time I used Powerpoint was, very briefly, my freshman year of college.
Now admittedly that wasn't that long ago, but it feels forever ago.

@Tinkeringbell use those effects, fly in a title, preferably in comic sans

@Luuklag Rainbow WordArt, woo!! :P
Nah, just lots of snips from 6 different excel sheets, 2 DWGs and our filesharing system. Hopefully that means we'll get through our meeting tomorrow a little faster than when I share the screen and have to look all of that up :P

Argh stupid arcmap keeps crashing

1:38 PM
Tell it I said it's not allowed to do that. Might work.

Does anybody know offhand what the latest site to get a custom design was?

the one that got out of beta 6-8 years ago

Anime.SE?

@Spevacus more customer service number spam

@Mithical let me guess... you have been invited to that room?

@SPArcheon I... don't know what you're referring to, so I'mma say no.

Did anyone else just get a random invite to another chatroom?

Interesting. No, this is unrelated to that.

In this series, we look at the most loved languages according to the Stack Overflow developer survey, the spread and use cases for each of them and collect some essential links on how to get into them. First up: Rust. Intro Despite its relatively tiny userbase—roughly 5% of programmers use it—Rust has consistently come in…

@Mithical that is different from the responsive design, right? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/319274/…

2:24 PM
I mean, the new designs are supposed to be responsive, but I am referring to a from-the-ground-up new design for a site that didn't have one before, not a redesign to be responsive

Basically a non generic responsive design?

@Catija So... no new designs in over a year and a half? Welp :/
I guess the graphic designers are occupied with the Instagram account.
@Tinkeringbell \o/

@Tinkeringbell meta.stackexchange.com/a/362114/798831, got an email in the body.

Thanks ;)

@Ollie Thrown it a redaction as well, just to be sure.

@Tinkeringbell yep, that's why I pinged you

4:41 PM
There is no revision, only Zuul

@Spevacus Unless someone screenshots the timeline ;)
sdc tea Shadow

@Ollie brews a cup of darjeeling tea for @Shadow

Solution: Don't do that.

@Spevacus I won't.

Probably not much to yoink off of that anyway

@Mithical I meah... Graphic designers are assigned to specific teams - The marketing team does insta/twitter stuff, not on-site stuff like site designs.
There's no plan to make new site designs any time soon. It's not on anyone's roadmaps.

making subpar sites look good doesn't advance teams sales

7:15 PM
@Catija Is there anything that the community can do to make site designs receive a higher priority in the system?
Perhaps they just aren't aware that many are clamoring for designs

First things first: Get Catija on the roadmap. We can plan our journey from there .....

@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog I could write a meta post...

If there are roadmapS then I hope they converge ...

7:39 PM
I mean, they have made sudden 180-degree turns in the past when it's come to sites:
June 27, 2019: "Deleting this because the proposal to remove beta labels and unravel graduation as we discussed is going nowhere" (10k-only)
August 1, 2019: "We've removed the word 'beta' from the site banners because we believe that these sites aren't really beta sites any more"

8:15 PM
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog I understand that there's a lot of people who want site designs ... and that's reasonable but I don't really see it being made a priority right now. We have major things that we need to get right to even make the sites work well at all - figuring out onboarding, making users feel like they can be successful..., making reviewers feel like they know what they're doing by improving reviewing etc. These are big, hard things that we've put off for too long.
And, as much as a nice site design gives a site a feeling of home, it's the equivalent of having nice decor in your house when right now we want to make sure there's a stable house that won't collapse at your feet.
We need to build a sturdier shed before we make it look good.... and that's what we're focused on. We have a single designer for PubPlat and she's busy designing UI, not site themes.
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog That wasn't so much a decision as a micro tantrum. :)

9:03 PM
@Catija I bet there are tons of users that could make designs, if only they knew the guidelines to adhere to...
I guess Ben Kelly came to the conclusion that one Meta post with gazillion answers isn't really suited as a bug tracker xD

@Luuklag I think the devs are so in general :D
At some point, you really want to 'just' have new questions
