I'm not too worried about stray dogs anyways, they're very rare over here. Cats however...
(cats aren't only more common as strays but also just random other people's cats are a nuisance)
18:23
We had a guard-cat. No other cat dared coming near the house.
I don't want any cats, if it can be arranged. So no guard cats either ;)
That was what my dad said. Until we finally got a cat ...
Well I'll be on my own so XD
LOL
Invite me for the house warming, I'll bring you a pet ;)
Yeah. You're hereby officially uninvited.
18:27
Awesome! :D
19:02
@Tinkeringbell that sounds good!
@rene a "wandelende tak" it is. I bet they can be mailed as well ;)
@JNat we need more spammers to fill your backlog

Investigate a dataset with summary statistics and some basic data visualizations using the Python libraries NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, and Seaborn.
@Luuklag Actually.... that's not too bad of an idea! I can even mimic our old biology teacher that told the horse-girls the stick insects in his class were carnivorous... then stuck his hand into the terrarium XD
@Luuklag I already proposed it once, and I will do so again: Keep a list and post all of em at once, on Friday during Happy Hour ;)

@rene Where did the ejected components end up: mars.nasa.gov/system/downloadable_items/…

Hey
mag
mag
I need a regex cheat code
e.g i'm in over my head in a problem with regex :D
:o y'all got a new CM
two!
@mag You probably meant to ping rene then, or ask in Charcoal HQ :P
Welcome back :)

I feel bad only coming back here when I need something
But i've had like less then an hour a day of free time since december
@Mithical One and a temp :P Rosie is not really supposed to end up being a CM from what I gathered, but a manager for the CM team ;)
@mag That's not an awfull lot of sleep. Amazing your still up and running
;)
@mag O.o that's very, very little free time! I hope that's not all work though (that it's also some busy stuff on that other site you're on?)
mag
mag
@Tinkeringbell yea it's the other site i'm on
Ah, so I'm hoping it's a fun kind of busy then :)

members went from 30k some to over 160k (and still growing 2k a day) and activitiy went through the roof
@rene if you're around I need some regex magic
that is way beyond what I can do
@mag That's a lot!!
That other site is also the site Monica went to?
mag
mag
I think jan -> feb activity went up by like 1400%
nah
Wow, congratulations on the growth. That's really awesome.

I ended up somewhere completely different

So, how many mod flags would you handle a day? :P
I just noticed MSE has almost 750k users... luckily they're not all active XD
Tentative question: Would MSE benefit meaningfully from a three vote close threshold?
I used to think that we would, considering all the crap MSE gets, but we also have a fair few people over 3k and pretty attentive mods, so eh.
@Spevacus I don't really think so. Everyone here is already pretty quick on closing the blatantly off-topic stuff... and those posts really don't take more than a single button press for a mod to handle entirely.
mag
mag
@Tinkeringbell very few, the mod team is about 45 people now, it's mostly meta management
strategy, discussion, promotions and applications, coding the discord bot, misc stuff
19:44
Reminds me... I saw a userscript linked somewhere today or yesterday that I need to hunt down and install.
mag
mag
also for us they're called alerts, not flags
but we designed the alert and ticketing system to be similarish to the SE flag system :D
@mag Oof, yeah. Those things are a lot more time and resource intensive than just handling alerts.
mag
mag
In the concrete situation I need a regex that matches a whole string if the string has less then n characters after a discord mention
Yeah.... sorry, I'm no help with those.
mag
mag
so I need to match a full string if the text after the text matching <@!*&*[0-9]+> is less then 4 characters long (excluding whitespace)
I like to think my regex isn't completely awful but google fu has failed me for this
19:49
And you can't just set a maximum length for the strings you want to compare (by e.g. first cutting/padding both of them to a set length) and then match?
mag
mag
I'm hoping to do this in the inbuilt system which allows us to set regexes directly for auto moderation
if I can't do it i'll have to add an extra check for this
I'm using this hobby shamelessly to learn python for free :D
Ah, if it's Python I'm really out! :D
I hope rene comes by for you soon. I'm off to bed, it was nice talking to you :)
@Tinkeringbell The parrot is no evening person I see
@mag Hm, not sure if I'm good at that but let's have it, we can always ask around in CHQ
mag
mag
@rene I need to match a whole string if and only if it's less then 4 characters long without a discord mention
<@!*&*[0-9]+> matches the discord mention as the bot sees it <@3294284924824> format, arbitrarily long number
19:58
@Rob I was somewhat surprised all that stuff landed so "nearby".
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating What who where
@Luuklag I should get back into a healthier rhythm. Lately I've been having trouble getting to sleep (awake until 2/3 am) and then in the mornings I am still in deep sleep when the alarm goes.... and yawning all day. So yeah. PC off now, and no more screens for about an hour. Then... it's attempting to fall asleep XD
mag
mag
also the count for 4 chars needs to exclude whitespace
@mag what regex flavor? Javascript?
@Tinkeringbell Tiring myself works for me
mag
mag
19:59
python
ugh
mag
mag
If I have to implement this as a function level check, I'm planning on doing it like this:

> Load the whole message text
> Load the list of mentions
> Strip all the mentions out with replace
> Strip all the whitespace with replace
> Count the remaining string
Better ask @Makyen over in CHQ but it helps if you have a few should match and should not match examples.
@Tinkeringbell Good luck!
mag
mag
20:14
@rene No, it should count the non-mention chars (so everything that isn't <@ and > with a number in between. And match the full string if there aren't at least 4 non whitespace chars
Okay, better leave it to him. Regex is not my cup of tea and the Python flavor is 100% new to me so ...
sorry.

thanks for helping

@rene Yes, if you take a scale and drop it on the photo the stuff on the left is 5&7 hundred meters apart. As far as astronomical distances go it's worth going there for some photos to check it out.
