Also, the "data collection" checkbox will always load the preference from your own profile rather than the other user's profile, and save to your own profile as well.

@Luuklag Everything about the US presidential electoral system is strange. As far as I know it's completely unique: each state has its own rules, especially about when to start counting and until when to accept ballots, then you have the whole strangeness of the elector system that allows candidates to win the popular vote but lose the election. It's really, really strange to people used to regular systems.

Mail-in ballots are a pain to count. You need to open the envelope, then manually check that the signature on the ballot matches the signature on file. So presumably you'd have to first look up the voter, try to figure out which of the 15 "Mary Smiths" she is, then look up her signature and compare it.

Here you just get your voter card by mail, then you hand in that card at the polling station, at which they give you a ballot in return.

For me there is a big differences between the democratic parties that are often deeply flawed and that I don't agree with in many things, and the more extreme parties that are in the end opposed to some parts of our constitutional principles. I always vote at least for one of the democratic forces, because I don't want the extreme ones to become stronger

@Tinkeringbell Not quite. Ideally, a blank vote is a vote that says "I am in favor of democracy but I have nobody to vote for that speaks for me". It a way of informing the political class that there are people they aren't reaching so perhaps something needs to change.

Practically, they're a wasted vote, I know. But they're still the best option available sometimes.

Catija and Rob, thanks for your response. I flagged the post which had vandalised content as spam (because they spammed -(hyphen) in a literal sense). The flag got declined so I headed to Meta SE to find that it should have been rude/abusive but also that the value of spam or RA is same. That's why I asked if there is a specific flag for vandalism.

@QueenieGoldstein Problem is that spam flags feeds automated anti spam system. False positives are bad for that system. So e.g. post consisting of just gibberish shouldn't be flagged as spam, because it will confuse the anti spam system.

@Luuklag Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada and it's 270 to 268 for Biden.

There's some chance Biden will get Pennsylvania or Georgia, which would make this far more robust

until the state's AG announces the total, it's just a projection... but that did occcur in wisconsin, so it's the official result, pending an expected recount in 10 days and ensuing court battle over votes that arrived from the USPS after 8pm on nov3rd

of which... i don't expect there are many, but the margins are so small that a court win could change the result

Our local state news has this fun chart that shows all results. Lovely to see how voting district take no account of logical borders whatsover. You've got to love gerymandering

So how does one win for example pensylvania, just the most votes in the entire state? As there are 20 electors to devide, but far more county's to vote in

honestly, i think "objectively" speaking, there never a good ruler these days...whether it's because some part of the country/population is upset, or because the overhaul total population of said country would be upset is another problem (or maybe part of the problem?)

I think the best thing would be if in some country (so they set the example for other one) would implement a system that would "force" ruler to keep their promises, in human ways, like:

- Pay them less depending on X amount of time not fulfilling X promise

@Luuklag even if either party win, it won't be 100% sure until january at most, since either party can go the legal/court ways...whatever that is.

Both sides have said: "Count all the votes.", some States have until the 12th, most Reps voted in person (and are counted, mostly) while more Dems mailed in (and remain uncounted, ATM). Currently both are barely within margin of error tied, with the Reps leading; so make your own prediction.
