@DavidPostill argh... I miss his books...

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Well, books don't die ;)

@Tinkeringbell but knowing there will be no new books of that kind is sad... :(

@ShadowWizardWearingMask That's true. Though do you really know for sure? Sometimes another writer picks up, I know that happened to e.g. the Darkover series.

@SonictheMaskedWerehog not everyone sleep, and those who do don't always sleep during the night...
@Tinkeringbell nobody can ever write in his style, it's too unique.
Like drawings of an artist.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Just train an AI using his work ;)

7:21 PM
lol
Even when he wrote with a co-writer, it came out totally different.

But I understand. I must admit I've never read any of his works (yet).

(Good Omens, which I read these days)

I haven't taken much time to read. I still need to finish Sapiens.

@Tinkeringbell well, the books I read (discworld series) are funny in a crazy way.

I read The Wee Free Men (by Pratchett) the other day. It was a delight.

7:23 PM
I've got a load of catching up to do. Our library definitely was a Christian one, so it was very lowly stocked on Scifi.

@Mithical part of Disc World?

not really

@Mithical What's it about? Is it worth putting on a list? ;)

@Tinkeringbell Pratchet's books (that I know) aren't science fiction, those are pure Fantasy. ;)

> The Wee Free Men is a 2003 comic fantasy novel by British writer Terry Pratchett, which takes place in his Discworld setting. It is labelled a "Story of Discworld" to indicate its status as children's or young adult fiction, unlike most of the books in the Discworld series.

7:24 PM
@ShadowWizardWearingMask Those are especially devillish ;)

hmm
@Tinkeringbell lol

@Mithical Very good book! And the rest of the Tiffany Aching books are just as good if not better (though they do age up a bit IMO)

> expressing discomfort, as from sudden exertion or a blow to one's body

@Rubiksmoose It was a two-in-one with A Hat Full of Sky in the same volume, so I devoured that at the same time :D

oh very nice!

7:26 PM
I heard what you did there ...

@ShadowWizardWearingMask It's kinda funny looking back. But I think I missed a part of childhood. Somehow Harry Potter isn't the same when you're 20 ;)

@Mithical about those ideas to sacrifice community... wonder who raise them... sigh
@Tinkeringbell well I never read HP books, but did watch all the movies.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask I've caught up on those too :)

@InfiniteRecursion and that's good! But I had to drag him too into here after a long absence. ;)

Speaking of absences... where's @Bart ?

7:32 PM
@Bart was here recently, he can't cheat pings. ;)
Maybe not enough waffles to keep him around? :(

You'll need something stronger than just waffles, I propose stroopwafels :)
Or Tikkels, perhaps?

Or just pure stroops?

Eww, no.

Are those like S-troops?
(Storm Troopers ;))

Stroop is something you can put on pancakes too. But only a maniac would eat it pure.
Oh, it can go on bread too.
These allowed you to make drawings. We used to have those because it was the only way my brother would eat bread.

7:35 PM
@Tinkeringbell why?
> But there’s another lesser-known liquid out there, a dark, sticky substance imbued with a subtle bittersweetness that pairs well with everything from pancakes and pastries without making anything soggy or soft. It’s called stroop and it can stand bottle-to-bottle with maple for syrup supremacy any day.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask It's.. .way to sticky and sweet to eat pure, I think. I don't actually like stroop that much.

Only on stroopwafels. Preferably those stroopwafels that come with Licor 43 too :P

Well my younger daughter usually refuse to eat lunch unless it has ketchup with/on it...
@Tinkeringbell tell this to @Bart

Oof, that's kinda bad too! (I have an uncle that still only eats vegetables if they come with applesauce)
@ShadowWizardWearingMask I'm sure he appreciates too :)

7:43 PM
@Tinkeringbell Someone wanted your brother to eat bread?

@AnnZen Parents, especially mom. Bread is a pretty staple good here for breakfast and lunch :) Especially as my brother also doesn't like any dairy products, so he also wouldn't eat any cornflakes, cruesli or muesli.

@Tinkeringbell so no chugging?

@Rubiksmoose hahaha I guess the 'games' part of bread and games wasn't highly valued :P
@JourneymanGeek Have fun, but no for me :P
I think stroop is a bit too sluggish for chugging.

7:47 PM
Sorry, didn't know that one :)

@Tinkeringbell What's the typical dinner carbs there?

@AnnZen An agv-tje: Aardappels (potatoes) Groenten (vegetables) Vlees (Meat) ;)
Though younger generations often eat more 'worldly' cuisine, more pasta, rice, noodles, etc.

@Tinkeringbell meat for dinner?

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Yes? That's the best part of dinner, except for dessert, of course :P
Though we do sometimes put meat on bread too, depending on our preferences ;)

8:22 PM
@Tinkeringbell Ah. Was snoozing. I nibble at chocolate so probably won't finish it for a couple of days (not including the chocolate bar in the middle) :)

8:57 PM
Here we go again!

Where? I kinda like this place

@AnnZen Is that some kind of Zen Koan?

Rob
