Bots can act so weird sometimes... but hey, it's familiar.... I'm used to people acting weird around me. ;)

public note to self: check this answer for quote manglement after CommonMark migration
(It's got a weird mix of HTML and Markdown and I'm wondering if that'll get messed up.)

@Mithical You could post it to the meta Formatting Sandbox and check

that won't rebake the quotes or anything

SciFi hasn't yet been migrated to CommonMark, so editing it there won't make any changes there yet

I think they are aware of that :D

I know? I'm wondering what'll happen when it gets automatically rewritten and rebaked in CommonMark (for instance, what happens with the comment-thing in between different quotes, and what happens with the Markdown inside \<sub\> tags).

7:29 AM
and are wondering if the auto commonmarkifying script will barf on that particular answer

This is one of the things where CommonMark is slightly different than our old renderer. Mixing HTML with Markdown is always a fun adventure (always has been) and in this case I'll argue that this works as designed. If you really have to write raw HTML in your CommonMark, make sure to not mix HTML and Markdown but to separate it with an appropriate amount of newlines. Otherwise, CommonMark will interpret everything as one big HTML block and ignore your Markdown. — Ham Vocke ♦ 2 days ago
Particularly, that comment would seem to indicate that it might break on my citation lines with a mix of HTML and Markdown (which, incidentally, would break half my posts across the network).

hm
@Mithical .... "fun"

aye

Are they tweaking the HTML and CommonMark parsing RegEx?

@rene replacing them with a library or two as I understand
so probably entirely different parsing

7:35 AM
@Mithical Which goes on to what I'm saying. You could post a copy of that answer to the Formatting Sandbox here and check to see if it renders differently.

@JourneymanGeek Now they have two problems ;)

Ah, just found a similarly-formatted post on Movies.SE, which apparently didn't break after being migrated, so that's good. It didn't remove the (now-superfluous) HTML comment that separated the quotes, but it doesn't appear to have visibly broken anything either.

If the existing markup does render correctly, but the script mangles them, you could just mass-rollback them.

@rene or one really big one

I think instead of that I'd prefer to tell SE "hey, you borked this" and have them fix it for everyone.

7:43 AM
A mass-rollback will surely get their attention

I have over 500 posts just on Literature, Science Fiction & Fantasy, and Movies & TV alone, most of which contain a quote (or several). Rolling back all of them is not happening.
In any case, it looks like it should be fine, but I'll be keeping an eye out anyway.
(Not to mention Puzzling.SE's formatting quirks. That one's going to be, uh, interesting.
)

compile error: missing )

( in Shadow-Lang means "Start the party";

I'll praise the day when the compiler spits out: you got that business logic completely wrong

@SonictheStay-HomeHedgehog uh no
that would be a pain

No pain no gain.

let me rephrase that
If you can ask nicely, why poop on his front yard?

letting @Journeyman rephrase it
@JourneymanGeek poop is good for the grass.

Its currently something SE inc is actually working on
and if the migration process has issues, letting them know is the right thing to do
especially since the dev in question has been quite responsive

Wait, maybe I'll add FHRC.

It dosen't look like one of the indian squiggly languages

@JourneymanGeek coworker said Thai, but... not sure.

10:12 AM
Google Translate said Georgian.

I suspect Andrew will know but he's.... gone. :(
@Mithical you can put image there??

yep, with the app

@Mithical such a pretty language

Well bought it in Tira where they usually import from Turkey so it was odd.
Also stuff made in Palestine is sold there...

10:14 AM

Well they are your closest neighbour...

Yup
@Mithical looks almost perfect, but still weird... why import from there of all places?? lol
Might ask next time I'm there. (It's from a Shawarma shop.)
Maybe Corona cause import from Turkey to be stuck, while allowing from other places?

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance It was cheap? :D

@JourneymanGeek nope. :(
Fixed price anyway, for all drinks.

My brother once found ludiciously cheap coke in a local discount store...
was...
cambodian

10:16 AM
Shawarma itself is cheap though, $7 for a big roll.

@Rob I googled that

Coke is global and it was quite a useless bit of data

@JourneymanGeek lol

Rob
10:18 AM
Launch a Shawarma roll at them?

@JourneymanGeek they were split, one became Fuse Tea and one kept the name of Nestea.

Missed drama, yet again
So I'm on the verge of considering life choices. To study for a potentially prosperous future, or enjoy meta chat drama
They seem to be mutually exclusive
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance I would definitely not want to live in tick island

@M.A.R. it's not so thick.

Given the overwhelming volume of edits on employee posts have been helpful in the past, I would guess there is one specific scenario in mind, although perhaps it will have some utility elsewhere in the future. — Shog9 2 days ago
That's almost certainly irrelevant, @cody. Two things I've learned in life: if you want peace, never call the cops and never call the lawyers. — Shog9 2 days ago
It's nice to see some good Shog takes.

@bjb568 Just honing his Shogness, making sure it still cuts
