@410 Basically, one of the posts it's based on was subject to a rollback-war recently (from people who were unaware that the top answers to FAQ posts should reflect the updated consensus).
(For the record, I did not participate in said rollback-war.)

Anyone that can chime in here? I have hammered that question but now another user commented and added a feature-request tag which I approved as it had a slight merit. But now they insist the dupes aren't correct either so I rolled back their edit so the dupe vote makes sense again. My added duplicates nor my comment seem to have resolved the dispute.

It's just a wrong place for the post. The complaint should be addressed to Chinese govt.

Exactly my approach to SE.
Bonus point for body positivity.

@410 yeah, and if it is not China then it is an ISP or Enterprise IT

@rene Done the unneedful, hope it unhelps

:D

I mean, many times I commented, then the user left SE...

It is a quality you have and we care for it ...

Great, autoflagged due to too many comments, I'll just drop it and move on...

Something I don't get.
People contest comments, review actions, close votes, whatever but when you defend it it's personal?

@M.A.R. Because at that point, it's a difference of opinion between two people. Much easier to jump to personal then.
Don't take it personally ;)

Thor's dupe-hammer is personal to Thor... or isn't!?

6:45 PM
@rene As currently written, it's not really a question ("hope there are more options"), so it's thus unclear and closeable; however, if there are relevant questions, I generally favor closing as duplicate over one of the other reasons since it comes across as "friendlier" and points the author to those questions. I think your hammer was correct.
If it were not only retagged, but also edited to explicitly say "please provide an alternative image host for Chinese users", it wouldn't be.

. . . While you're at it, images have been blocked for Iranian users for more than two years.

They were also blocked by my school filters back when I participated in 2013-14.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Imgur (and as a result, stack.imgur) have been censored as part of the state censoring mechanism I think.
I don't expect it to be fixed, but I'm providing a reason as to why it shouldn't be SE's concern.
The US themselves block lots of things I would have liked unblocked.

Q: Eternal Damnation

Damned2HellI'd like to see a discussion area related to the topics of hell, unforgiveness, the unpardonable sin, and related discussion. I'm an expert in the area, I'd be happy to answer questions.

We already have that... it's called meta.

Right?
Someone link it
With all the death related metaphors.

wow... that tagging issue is actually being discussed here ^_^
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Editing it was somehow above my paygrade. What I was sure of was that the dupe links did not contain answers to the OP's request. The OP didn't submit a bug report. There is no related bug.

FWIW, I agree the tag should be removed because it's unrelated at all.

@life-on-mars Here on Meta Stack Exchange, we close questions as duplicates if the answer to the target question also addresses a given question, even though the questions themselves may not be exactly the same. This is to link users to the canonical posts regarding topics.

@rene Thinking about it, I actually think it's neither a support question nor a feature request. It's more an SE policy problem.

7:13 PM
Great.

@life-on-mars There's no concrete question or request other than "I hope" (which isn't really either).

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Now I think you're getting as defensive as rene... to make it clear... I'm not defending the OP and I too think it should be closed... please don't misunderstand me

56 mins ago, by M.A.R.
People contest comments, review actions, close votes, whatever but when you defend it it's personal?

It can be a support question (answer: SE uses Imgur. Users are free to upload on another image host and embed it manually, but images uploaded from SE will be hosted on Imgur), or feature request: add an option to host an image on blablabla. Though until now, SE doesn't show any hint to move to another service/self-host it (even for many other reasons than geo-blocked), so it's kinda moot in the first place.

@life-on-mars and what policy would that be?

7:20 PM
@rene I believe you posted a link to that

Yes.

@rene Have you ever been in China?

No, have you ever been to the Netherlands?

That said, it's China's fault, not SE's fault.

Have you been to Iran?
It's fun here.
Free movie downloads. No copyright laws.
Which also stinks if you make art, not just watch it.

7:23 PM
@MetaAndrewT. yes... but it probably does not feel like it

and as much as my Indonesian ISP's fault that they block the whole Reddit.

@life-on-mars It does.
Building walls to keep out people is wrong

@rene only a few hours... didn't like it, got slapped in the face by a security guard at the airport (not a joke)... I really should have sued him

A lot of people have agreed on that.
But which side is doing it?

@life-on-mars with a trout?

7:26 PM
@rene with his hand

@rene With a close vote

@life-on-mars not a python fan then ...

I like boas.

BhoaAaAaAa~

7:28 PM
When you put it that way
Are you reptilist?

@rene hehe... no... the Netherlands are great... in no other country you'll find companies that build rowing bicycles... that silly airport doesn't count

@M.A.R. On the scales of 1-10, no

@MetaAndrewT. 9?
Lemme decide if that's good or bad.
@life-on-mars You kidding me? Netherlands is great? Have you SEEN the map? They're really tiny
I forgot where that extra Luxembourg part is for.

@M.A.R. I live in Malta... you'll have to search to find that on the map

For banks that didn't fit in the Switzerland I guess
I know where Malta is
Hang on

7:31 PM
hehe#

Looks in pockets
I'm sure it's . . . around here . . . somewhere
No wonder Europeans wanted to conquer every land they could touch

@M.A.R. a small number of Europeans have actually realised that that wasn't the proper way it's supposed to be

@life-on-mars Yeah, there isn't good quality tea everywhere

@M.A.R. they have good tea in China

@life Anyway, the whole point is that it's not SE's job to host images elsewhere just because they're blocked in China
Because they're blocked here too, for example. If SE did such a thing but the other image host was blocked as well, should we change it again?

7:44 PM
@M.A.R. of course not... they're all blocked anyway

@life-on-mars so . . . I'm at a loss. Why is defending that position a personal choice?

@M.A.R. what position?

I missed my weekends...

@life-on-mars The whole argument about that post on meta . . .

@M.A.R. I wasn't defending the OP's position

7:47 PM
If you didn't think there was any merit to continuing the discussion, why were you discussing the tagging or whatever it was about?
Meh, I bored myself already
Let's talk about @MetaAndrewT.'s weekends

@life-on-mars Everyone complains about the TSA security officers here in the US, but if you compare them to other security forces internationally, they're a walk in the park

If he's like me, he spends most of his time doing . . . nothing
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog "park" is a nice euphemism, ahaha

Noun: walk in the park (plural walks in the park)
  1. Used other than with a figurative or idiomatic meaning: A recreational walk in a park.
  2. I love to walk when it's sunny - let's go for a walk in the park, shall we?
  3. (idiomatic) Something easy or pleasant.
  4. High school was difficult, but it was a walk in the park compared to college engineering classes.

I know what it means

I didn't even remember much what I did this Saturday...

7:49 PM
@M.A.R. hehe... personally, I was trying to understand... regarding the post, I only thought it would be nice for him to have a chance to understand why
There is only on park on the island I live on
one*

@MetaAndrewT. You're me

@M.A.R. are you you?

No.
Maybe.
Only today. Just for you.

@life-on-mars I looked it up. It's slightly bigger than Queens (New York), and about the same size as Rotterdam (Netherlands)

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog outsourcing airport security to private companies never works.... they'are not so bad in Malta btw

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog gone
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog gone

@Loong dang, rush of nostalgia

:-)

waffles

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog and gone

7:55 PM
@Loong Phew. I was so innocent.
I didn't know real life was a thing.
That's even before I found out about the illness

good old times

@life-on-mars The TSA is part of the government

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I see

Next Meta post: "Will the post "Will concerns regarding the move to CC BY-SA 4.0 elicit any further dialogue from Stack Exchange, Inc.?" elicit any further dialogue from Stack Exchange, Inc.?"

It will be closed as a duplicate of the former

8:14 PM
Will The Post post a post on all this?

8:54 PM
yay, 3k :D

se.xy site?
(Name not resolved)

> Did you mean ss.xy.com?

@MetaAndrewT. Does the word hentai show up in any noticeable count on anime.SE? (seems like the most likely place for it to show up anyway)

410
Yes...........
Especially together with "hair" and "pubic"

@Olivia err, I answered one...

410
Looks like .xy is not a TLD at all, unlike the reasonably-popular .xyz

9:49 PM
So yes. Not worth watching in general then
