Yeah, people are still noticing it's broken :)

Its putting a big crimp in our style over at chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/64176/this-is-fine
That's the primary way we post links for discussion over there

@BradC That's not a transcript link. Sorry for dropping in and immediately leaving ! :)
@BradC Ah well... @VoteDukakis has some kind of userscript that posts just the text of twitter posts, if they can share that with you all that might help a little until they fix this?

^ Like that

@Tinkeringbell it wasn't supposed to be a transcript link, just a room link. Well, register my upvote on the bug report.
@Tinkeringbell hmm, how does that work?

No clue :P
It's their script, not mine ;)

5:07 PM
@Tinkeringbell ah, ok. Looks like it reformats for better pasting into chat.

VTCing @Brad as duplicate of @canon

5:52 PM
@BradC It probably loads it into a jquery object and then parses it.

:/

turn that frown upside down :\
hmm, same frown, who thinks of these sayings anyway

@TravisJ Is that a frown or a monobrow?

(:\
lol

You really need to see a professional about that eyebrow.

5:57 PM
Seeks out individual identifying as someone who has spent their whole life dedicated to educating themselves about the intricacies of eyebrows and the history behind it.
0 results.

Cheap Eyebrow repair.

lol
Oh man, that would make a great gamer tag

sigh

@TravisJ As in nickname for a game character? You have fun with it, I guess :P

Fun :D Isn't that the point?

6:04 PM
Of gaming? Yes :)

Then maybe I will
Maybe I will use that nickname

Though I would spell it 'Repair' with a capital R

you savage! :P

Consistency is important!
@canon Don't worry. Your eyebrows didn't look pretty either ;)

I consistently leave off the last capital letter in those situations

6:06 PM
my eyebrows are my best feature :(

@TravisJ Now that's savage!

Can you move them one at a time?
(I can't, but it always makes me laugh)

yes
I can also wiggle my ears independently

boom
you win

I can do neither of those :( My set of facial expressions is kinda limited by it.

6:08 PM
Just as long as you don't go all Seth McFarlane on it you're good
(he doesn't really have facial expressions)

I was googling that :P

Sorry, I realized that was way too obscure a reference

He looks like he's at least graced with a perpetually happy expression. That's good.

Yeah, but sometimes it is a little misleading when in a movie you are told your significant other died and you get that expression

Yeah, okay. That makes things awkward. What movie is that? :)

6:11 PM
A million ways to die in the west
His expression on the cover pretty much never changes for the whole movie :D

I'll try and watch it sometime. I think I still have an episode of Chernobyl waiting for me first.

I wouldn't really suggest it to be honest, there are so many other things to watch of higher quality
I love the guy, he is hilarious, but that movie is not one of his best works

That's why I'll watch Chernobyl first ;)

:)

It'll probably be very suitable as background noise while crocheting then

6:14 PM
yes, that would probably work

6:32 PM
}:-/

Spanish @Journeyman Matador

7:32 PM
@JonEricson eh, I think it's only "good enough" if the voice is crystal clear (expensive equipment, etc.), which isn't true for the podcast
@EKons: I think it depends on what you expect from it. I thought it was mostly ok, but that's not good enough if you expect to be able to understand what's going on just by reading. I did appreciate not having to start from scratch when I tried doing some transcribing. — Jon Ericson ♦ 2 mins ago

@EKons I used it to transcribe an interview I recorded on my phone outside with wind noise and barking dogs . . . in Spanish. It made some hilarious errors, but saved me tons of time. Plus I was able to crank out English subtitles that lined up with the Spanish audio without much adjustment.

wait really? nah, you're being modest... :P my experiences have been way worse...
I mean... Spanish voice recognition + Google Translate = disaster

I'm fairly solid reading Spanish, so I did most of the translation manually. My wife helped with the rest. (She's fluent.)

oh, so the voice recognition only did ~20% of the job?
I feel like the users who help transcribe the episodes can also do this if they want to, but I don't think it's going to eliminate the need for help

It was probably 80% accurate, actually. This isn't Star Trek just yet. ;-)

7:44 PM
@Rob I think a bit of that was a case of false choice, e.g. a lot of the qualities correlate

@EKons Correct. You gotta have a human at some point.

Rob
@Magisch How so?

@JonEricson I meant the help from non-participants, I think three people is just too few to get the job done in time (i.e. in less than 6-8 weeks); also, by "accuracy", I mean real accuracy, with 100% being absolutely perfect, not just "marvelous for today's standards"

@Rob company culture, opportunities for professional development, flexible schedule, work life balance. Most of these things go hand in hand

Rob
Everything aligned is on the same line, or at least only one line off; when there's a couple of lines difference it's not aligned.

8:20 PM
@EKons also may get harder if they have guests with non us or UK accents

8:40 PM
@JourneymanGeek depends on how well they can understand the accents (pretty sure that can be learned... :P)

@EKons I tend to break voice rec ;p

voice rec is dumb

@EKons Not always :*

well, for my voice it works ~70% of the time
since it's not improving over time (months), it's dumb ;P

Q: Announcing a Pro Tempore election (retry)

Jon EricsonWe recently held an election for moderator and nobody stepped up to nominate themselves. So we're going to try again in July. Summary: Joomla Stack Exchange will begin the nomination stage for a special election on July 8 to bring in one more moderator. For full details of the process, see the ...

And if it does not work the second time, move the site to a .zip file or something...

user302202
The activity trend is not really encouraging, the site is about 20% of what it used to be.

@VoteDukakis Hmm. Well, I do hope everything succeeds this time. It's never fun for those that are left if the community is zipped ;)

user302202
I suppose some people may feel nostalgic about a CMS that fell out of use.

user302202
9:12 PM
I take that back, apparently Joomla is #2 CMS by use, although far behind WP.

user302202
If this site is to be believed, at least.

There are some patterns here... And #5 is something called "Blogger" which apparently counts as a CMS? I thought that one is surely long forgotten.

Rob
Joomla is stuck in the middle, but maybe it's just that people don't have questions; everything is relatively straightforward. It seems to have a passing grade as measured by Area 51.

user302202
Joomla's weakness is in the celebrity market.

9:49 PM
Anyone here also see this bug? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/328483/…

yup

@AwesomePoodles I'm getting an offline for maintainance page
but yes

@VoteDukakis Joomla is a flaming dumpster fire to work with. I hate that CMS so very much

status-repro

@Aibobot Thanks. GTK it's not just my system.
