@SonictheWizardWerehog I don't know because I personally never heard of such case

So... UTC-wise it's International Women's Day, should not SO do something on this day to reaffirm its EDI commitment?

@MSOGA Generally SE publishes blog posts according to the U.S. timeline

How to interpret "0-3 years of relevant work experience" in a job ad‌?

user302202
My reading of 0-3 is "no more than 3". If you have 4 years of experience, don't bother applying.

2:45 AM
@MSOGA or they'd complain you're overqualified. Or hire you anyway

3:39 AM
Or they got another position: Optimized Specialist

@Bookends And CM job nominations have closed as well ;)

@Bookends so we had a pile, and I'd always planned on getting through it little by little, 'cept... that doesn't work! So yesterday, Jon, Grace and I hopped into a call and scheduled a bunch of 'em!
Still have about 10 other sites I need to poke about possible elections or absentee mods too
but the bulk of the pile that kept on piling up is handled
and, going forward, any new requests or checkups will be conducted summarily, rather than added to the pile to be forgotten backlog

though, announcing election long beforehand might be a good idea too so that anyone can understand and prepare for it :)

12:18 PM
CM Backlog sounds fun
Who does most of the vote invalidations these days I wonder?

@Magisch I disagree with your edit. Yvette mentioned how her comments were deleted twice (what you edited out in the post, but also in a comment: "and yet my comment was deleted and my flags declined.").

@AnneDaunted I based that on context and the first comment that said the offending comments were deleted, but perhaps you're right. Shall I rollback?

It's very well possible that she referred to her comments - like she answers his comments, flags them and then flags are declined, her comments deleted and then also the comments she flagged (as Mad Scientist noted).

I rolled it back for now

@AvnishKabaj OK, cool

@Bookends That message suspiciously sounds like a Normal message
SOCK!
I am kinda disappointed none of the candidates has promised a wall to keep low-rep users out
But a Lounge drama with the new mods sounds like a favorable topping
Is sending the freshly elected mods to the Lounge some kind of rite of passage? — user703016 Dec 2 '15 at 2:12
Too bad though, AFAIK Lounge has reformed since then

2:51 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ actually...
@Magisch Anne is correct

> build the site you think should exist. schools regularly come in different flavors: elementary school, middle school, high school, community college, college, post-graduate college, etc. All of these are "exclusionary" to some degree. -- Jeff Atwood at 12:25 AM - 8 Mar 2019

@MSOGA I only see someone fighting a lost cause, head right into the wall. If someone in the scale of April will see and intervene, I fear Jeff will take another leave from Twitter.
His "experiment" is worth nothing because he posted a good question.
Problem starts when users post bad question then if they appear females, the comments can become snarky and sexist.

5:57 PM
Is it any better when we're snarky to white males ?
Also that Twitter thread has been going on a while

lol. had a related discussion in discord about recent events

(is geek... at work)
anyway
Now, building the site you believe should exist is how we got here. Well SO at least - was kind of originally designed to be a platonic ideal of a Q&A site for devs ;p
the problem is really all the folks trying to turn that into what they want, without getting some of the stuff that works, and well...
not wanting to actually engage the community - but rather trying to change things top down
so voting and quality control? Not negotiable.
How we deal with new users and more importantly helping folks ease into our way of doing things - is more important

its 2 am and I just polished off 2 packs of instant noodles ._.

6:28 PM
@Aibobot That's good food for 2am :)

@Tinkeringbell I usually don't eat much during night shifts ;p

Me neither, as I never do night shifts ;)

It was supposed to be my emergency food supply
well till I get a better job ;)

The one time I stayed up a whole night I was too tired to even think of food...
@Aibobot Easily replaced, right?
@Aibobot You can't expect it to last that long!

yup
oh the night shifts
the noodles, a little more

6:32 PM
I wish we'd eat more noodles. Mom finds them too spicy :(
I find other kinds too bland :P

lol
I actually tend to... make em spicier?
also helps we have a hot water dispenser
and since we are not english, we never use it to make tea

@Aibobot Hahaha. That's about the only thing hot water dispensers over here (in offices) are used for. Or, very sometimes, cup-a-soup

that's kinda the joke

Coffee?

Coffee doesn't come from the hot water dispenser.

6:35 PM
Its almost always used for cup noodles ;p

It comes from another 'machine' :(

@Tinkeringbell some people drink... premix

Good point.

@Aibobot That's not coffee :P Doesn't count.

@Tinkeringbell well... sometimes bad 'coffee' can keep you awake ;p

6:36 PM
That's true. Bad coffee gives me enough of stomach ache to hinder sleeping :P

Evening!

Evening!
Busy day / week. Not been around much here

Okay. I've noticed this more and more so let me make one thing clear: I am the parrot here!

Yes ma'am

Morning!

8:05 PM
So how is your new team @Tinkeringbell?

@rene Mine was slooow. I really like the new team but man, those builds.... And I'm getting small tasks so there's a lot of them :/
@rene practically perfect :)

I've been doing a conversion, fixing bugs and had a chat with the Digid tester from Logius.

@rene Digid? Can you tell them to quit the SMS nonsense? I hate that I have to get my phone out just to log in somewhere :/

well, yes. It is in the law, right? And it is the only way I can legally get your BSN.

@rene is the SMS thing law? Sad :(

8:09 PM
Yeah , it's stork 2/3.
two factor needed as it is PII

Sure, but SMS? Just lemme use something I can also use on the PC, not requiring two different devices :/

When they designed it, SMS was still hot ...

@Tinkeringbell Most services allow you to use an authenticator app instead, and I'm sure that there are a few available for PC

@rene Waterfalls everywhere

Remember the days when people had to carry around a small device with a tiny digital display with an OTP code?

8:13 PM
And innovation is not a concept much legislators take into account when writing down the text for the law

@rene true. Still. It's bad when DigiD is the worst part of filing taxes :/

@Tinkeringbell In 2017 I did a project for the WLZ where a deliverable in one sprint was: allow more data to be shared early between those involved and that needed a change of current legislation. So the guy from the Ministry of Health asks: when do you need that and I responded: In two weeks, at the sprint review ... he went off and did his best ....

How long did it take?

It is in concept now I believe.
2 years is not uncommon
6 months if you need to rush it

snort

8:19 PM
He did report that it was doable, so they would accept the change.
That was already an achievement in two weeks

Yeah, that sounds like one :)

@ShadowWizard I don't care about his experiment at all. The idea of excluding (discouraging) some "people who code" from active participation in SO is what appeals to me in Jeff's messages.

user302202
Recognizing that the site as we know it would not exist without exclusion mechanisms that were built into it from the beginning.

user302202
If the site began as mostly a collection of "you referenced a variable before assigning to it; swap those two lines and your homework code will compile" advice, it would not become what we know as SO.

@SonictheWizardWerehog ... Actually....
@Tinkeringbell you might need to repeat yourself

@JourneymanGeek I will, in due time ;)

@ShadowWizard The thread that Jeff is posting to includes AW (as well as Joel and others)

user302202
@ArtOfCode FR: include the number of reviews in the "moderation" box at artofcode.co.uk/elections

user302202
Would it be too confusing to abbreviate ArtOfCode as AOC?

given that my twitter timeline is full of people either yelling about or raving about the AOC currently in the US Congress... a bit :)

user302202
Happy hour! I'm happy that next week is our Spring Break.

user302202
10:53 PM
Spring break destination: Cleveland, OH. I hear it rocks.

isn't the idea to go somewhere warmer
though, i guess OH could be "warmer", depending on the base value

@MSOGA : can't get that data without making additional requests

I don't understand comments like this: stackoverflow.com/questions/55072086/…
like... you're straight up saying the question is unclear
and that you didn't downvote it
which is what downvotes are used to indicate

user302202
Don't like to follow the crowd (re: warmer places).

user302202
It's marginally warmer than the basepoint, though.

user302202
10:58 PM
@KevinB There's also an answer "Your question is very unclear, but"

user302202
which basically says "recursion exists".

lol
the literal answer
"Yeah, it's entirely possible!" but i'm not gonna show you how to accomplish it with your code
i might have posted that here, thinking i was in another room... but meh

The previous attempt was 7 years ago.

That topic doesn't strike me as one that would have much to discuss/ask about that wasn't directly related to a religion or politics

@MSOGA Probably trying to avoid another Startups?
