Is it possible to make a triple-nested bullet list in a post?
@Alex Here's how you do it:
- First
  - Second
     - Third
         - Fourth
@SonictheIntrovertedHedgehog Thanks. My problem was I didn't know how many spaces were required for the next level indentation.

@drnikki @EricaJoy We've been seriously thinking about this one ("developer") just in general a lot too. What does it mean if we say Stack Overflow is for developers? Can/should we use more open or inclusive language?
I suggest "computer typey-typey person"
01:20
Software development professional probably works. Technology professional even better. Maybe get marketing on it. ;p
01:46
Unrelatedly Indian snacks are odd. I am sure I just ate packing peanuts coated in chilli powder
quick - nobody suggest "code monkey"
If nobody's suggesting it, why does it have to be quick?
you gotta jump on these things. If you don't, someone else won't suggest it.
Pretty soon, everyone hasn't suggested it, and when you also don't you feel like a follower
(as I type this, I realize that this conversation is an hour old. And poof, there go my dreams of being a Tavern hipster)
@Shog9 essentially though - a lot of folks who work in tech don't directly write software. I don't, not do I want to.
@JourneymanGeek to be fair, your SO rep ain't that great either
01:51
Nope
It's entirely from one answer which was interpretative poking around
It's better than mine.
Me, I like "programmer". I feel like everyone knows what that means. Unless you work in TV, in which case you're dead to me.
I mean, I love everything else. Code on the other hand....
@Shog9 I worked in movies once. Loved that job :(
I don't think movies have programmers though
Hah.
Completely incorrect
A lot of modern video production involves bespoke tools and scripts
And some amazingly ugly hacks
01:55
ah, but that's just computer programming
it's not movie programming
I mean, I've heard of TV programs. Even TV programmes, which the poms think are equivalent or better to TV programs. But I've never heard of a movie program.
But... Isn't say python easier than programming a VCR?
of course; that's why you can't throw a brick without hitting a Python programmer, but almost nobody even owns VCRs anymore.
(if you have never programmed a VCR, I am glad to inform you I am on vacation and I have a non lethal to get off lawn)
01:56
Python Programmer
Who doesn't want that cache?
That man looks like a badass who eats swift programmers and spits out code
RIGHT?
"Are you tired of being human" damn straight
..."Mark"
what kind of vampire goes by "Mark"
You've never met some of the folks I hung out with in my teens ;)
Besides less passe than vlad.
(also. Damn it autocucumber. I did not mean less paddles than glad)
02:31
No need to navigate through menus. Just press a few buttons to input the time and channel.

Q: Why are email addresses from temporary email services (i.e. Temp-Mail) allowed to be used to make accounts?

user470917Right now, the same account that is asking this question is made from an email from Temp-Mail. This means that if this account or others similar to this get banned somehow, they can create a new account easily by changing their temporary email, do the registration, and dispose of the email. Also,...

The way they chucked a link to a temp mail service on the end there feels a bit spammy
What do you think?
@angussidney Yeah, looks a bit like. The post would have been okay even without the link.
@Shree I know, it sounded like there was a new contest, what @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ said
@MEEisJohannGambolputty... do you think we should flag it then?
07:00
@angussidney not sure? It could be legitimate. Maybe better ask a mod to look for the details of the deleted account.
I think a flag wouldn't be declined, but probably disputed.
@MEEisJohannGambolputty... No He made just joke for 5 answer. :) .
@angussidney personally there's all sorts of odd going on
@JourneymanGeek and what do you think, is it spam?
I literally think someone was too clever, posted the question, then self deleted the their account
@JourneymanGeek you can see profile details for this account, can't you?
07:07
@MEEisJohannGambolputty... Account self deleted
That's all, I thought this page would be more interesting from what I have seen on various meta posts :(
I'd lean towards someone thinking they are clever
Only if there is an account
It's a valid question but I think could/should be better asked
@JourneymanGeek Oh right, I misremembered it to be more interesting.

I think there's already the default(?)/standard stance from CMs about migration, because this is the 2nd time I've read this
> There are a few considerations with migrations and I generally recommend that you close the off-topic question and encourage the OP to ask the question on the other site directly rather than migrating it. It's often faster, since you don't need to wait for a moderator, and there are some benefits for the asker.
and the previous one
> Now, that being said, I do know that there's some overlap between users of both communities... so if anyone who is really active at SF&F and familiar with their guidelines sees something here they definitely think is a good fit there, great! Leave a comment suggesting the asker re-post their question on SF&F (and delete the one they posted here).
@Bookends I think there's a bit of a feeling we have outgrown migration/it's less useful than it once was

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ no swag, easy rep. Like one line answers on SO giving hundreds of upvotes. :D
@MEEisJohannGambolputty... lol it's animated in the newsletter too???? rofl
Anyway, changed now, no more animation. :(
@ShadowWizard I would post a screenshot, but you know...
@AndrasDeak and this time we can't make fun of JNat either ;_;
Yeah, they don't even try to remove animation in newsletter (no ?s=[size] in url) so anyone with animated avatar will have animation there.

any way to search by partial tag name?
[*par*]?
09:50
@Derpy meaning? Example?
Like iscuss instead of discussion
closing @Derpy question as "unclear what you ask" :P
@ShadowWizard sharepoint-*
since tags do not implement any form of hierarchy
and on SO there are separate tags for each sharepoint version...
I am starting to get pretty annoyed at having to include explicitly ALL version tags in any query.
It would help if marking something as [sharepoint-2019] would automatically add [sharepoint] too....
but as I said... no hierarchy.
@Derpy what's wrong with this search?
This will also bring [sharepoint-2019] when it will exist.
(just make sure to bookmark this exact URL, not the final result which expand the tags)
10:08
@ShadowWizard two things:
and that's all, folks!
@Derpy umm... yes? waiting
First, that you are replying to my question "any way to search by partial tag name?" with "Y U no use partial tag query"
@Derpy that's been suggested. I guess though that would massively complicate how tags are stored
@Derpy no, I wasn't sure what exactly you are after.
10:11
@ShadowWizard the one you posted :P
which brings us to point 2
that works for search.
[sharepoint-*]
does not for watched tags
@Derpy you asked about search.
Result _. [sharepoint-*]
Use SE Filtered Question instead...
10:12
@ShadowWizard I know I know... was just hoping it would also work for the watched tags thing. It doesn't
It used to work, I think... removed when they changed the backend and renamed it to Watched Tags instead of favorite tags.
And they also removed something much more useful, tag subscription.
So they made it look more nice with more colors, and be much less useful than before. meh.
I'm worried those users who accidentally added [android-*] tags on their watched tags will have a hard time removing them... i am an idiot
@Bookends well, they can't add it anymore.
@ShadowWizard it partially works.
if you add [sharepoint*] to the watched tags, clicking on it will correctly result in the expected query being performed
but you get no coloring in the question list.
So, it is mostly broken
and then there's also the limit of 20 top tags
10:18
ok, thinking of opening a bug since it seems it now works exactly the opposite of how it used to.

I wonder if this is ground for opening a case for competition rules infringement
lmao
@Derpy Probably
They're technically using their engine to beat competition
considering that:
under normal circumstances, if you had windows installed (probably comes already installed if you by a pc) you will have Edge.
I thought Windows 10... has been doing that since the beginning
If you have Edge preinstalled, it will also come with preconfigured Bing search
@Bookends Microsoft already faced multiple fees for bundling the browser with the OS.
was the whole reason they once had to implement that browser choosing splash screen
recently, they had similar problems with the media player.
(See: Windows 10 N)
this little trick they are attempting now is probably not going to end up well if somebody high enough notices.
Oh, it was removed, then moved to Bing's result, presumably...

For nine years, we at Stack Overflow have fielded a survey, asking people who code about their opinions on a variety of topics, from whether they prefer a dark or light theme in their IDE to how their challenges change with experience. This is a huge project for us each year, with contributions in 2019 from product managers, our UX researcher, designers, community managers, web developers, marketers, and me, Stack Overflow’s data scientist. In physical cosmology and astronomy, dark energy is an unknown form of energy which is hypothesized to permeate all of space, tending to accelerate the expansion of the universe. Dark energy is the most accepted hypothesis to explain the observations since the 1990s indicating that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. Assuming that the standard model of cosmology is correct, the best current measurements indicate that dark energy contributes 68% of the total energy in the present-day observable universe. The mass–energy of dark matter and ordinary (baryonic) matter contribute 27...
