@Derpy It's all relative wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff

Anonymous
@user5389107 Ah, I see. Stack Overflow has so given up on curating quality here, that they're going to start helping people find quality posts elsewhere instead.

Anonymous
A sensible choice.

wait what?
ahh

@Mgetz ^

@Derpy I would laugh if they had David Tennant guest star in that one

3:09 PM
@user1114 I think it comes back down to "how do we make money off our product?"

hey
buy rep with money.

Anonymous
Step -10: don't select a business model that requires enough income to support 100 salespeople.

@Mgetz Too many references already, no space for him. Or at least Discord said so.

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek Give up and sell to Microsoft or Google, who probably have more incentive to keep the product pure and externally-sustained.

@user1114 hindsight is 20/20
and it probably worked to a point

3:13 PM
@user1114 HAHAHAHAA sorry was that a joke?

Anonymous
@Mgetz No. Do you expect them to be worse stewards of this site than Joel has been?

and I think MS or Google would probably destroy SE in 2-3 years

@JourneymanGeek Google would because of "lack of use" (not as many users as gmail)
MS would just stop engineering investment and let it rot

Anonymous
Google and Microsoft both invest a ton in supporting developers, because they benefit from general growth of this stuff.

see skype

3:14 PM
@Mgetz and despite a few misteps over time, SE actually has a fairly unique way of doing things
that fact we can even complain...

Anonymous
Microsoft is now a champion of Open Source. I used to despise them, but Modern Microsoft would never shut the site down; it would be a great asset for their brand.

the fact that we're currently using a chatroom provided by the company to slag off its business decisions with no recourse means we're pretty far from other forms of shady business practices

:)
@user1114 until the next CEO

Anonymous
You can use Skype to slag Microsoft.
You can use Reddit to slag Reddit.
You can use YouTube to slag Google, and certainly people do.

Anonymous
That's not a high bar at all.

Anonymous
3:17 PM
Also, Chat was created by Jeff, and has been basically untouched since.

Anonymous
So I wouldn't give current management any credit for that.

If you seriously slag reddit on reddit you'll eat a shadowban
youtube has been known for that too
And skype is not a public chat platform

hey
use Twitter to slag Twitter... no, wait...

@hey apparently that's fine

@JourneymanGeek to be fair, I saw enough damage done to Angular 2+ already.

3:19 PM
@user1114 that said... what's slagging them going to do, productively?

Anonymous
Nothing.

Anonymous
There is no path forward.

Idk why you hate SE management so much

oh... man

Anonymous
The site lost its way a long time ago

Anonymous
3:20 PM
the hope ways always that it would pull itself together.

Anonymous
Now, it's clear that that's never going to happen.

excuse us for trying I guess

Anonymous
@user5389107 For destroying my favourite part of the internet.

@user1114 and... folks put in the effort. There's a whole lot of fairly healthy communities outside SO too. I mean, sure, occationally folks seem a bit tone deaf, or just... kinda odd...

I'm gonna ... take a step back from this discussion now

3:21 PM
@user1114 to be blunt, then, why are you still here?

but I don't think constantly slagging folks of ... does anything

If you don't believe there's a future for this site, what's keeping you?

Anonymous
@ArtOfCode I don't have any good answer to that.

(but I keep reminding people of that. I'd rather try to engage and influence people, than well... burn bridges)

hey
reminded me of that particular someone...

3:23 PM
hah

Anonymous
Stack may still be saved by going out of business and having Joel replaced with a leader who gives a fuck.

Anonymous
I have nonzero hope left.

hey
Well, I'll be blunt: Evan

@user1114 I do admit that I've not ever interacted with Joel
(and historically I've been all rose tinted glasses over Jeff's running of the place)
but its more than one person
I'm pretty sure Joel dosen't/can't make all the decisions on what folks do

Anonymous
Jeff was admittedly a sloppy community manager, but he was an amazing product person.

3:26 PM
The folks we interact with day to day ... they seem to try hard and have power to effect change where they deem it necessary. I'm ... unsure why you think that just because Joel is more hands off that the site is doomed?

hey
Business-minded person vs technical-minded person?

Anonymous
> they seem to try hard and have power to effect change where they deem it necessary

heh. Funny thing is, Jeff was actually a pretty good community manager for the community at the time

Anonymous
I would contest this point.

Anonymous
The people we interact with have essentially no power.

3:26 PM
Sure we'd all like to have more interaction and we'd all like things to move faster, but everyone seems to be trying

Anonymous
Nobody who actually understands the community does.

Anonymous
Decisions are made by people who don't have a clue what it's like to actually use the site.

Anonymous
And apparently nobody remembers the actual vision any more.

Anonymous
okay that's enough ranting for this morning

Anonymous
see you this afternoon

Anonymous
3:29 PM
Replace the board of directors with the community managers.

Join us again next time, when user1114 rants about commercial airline travel and how it's basically slave ships but without the vigorous exercise

Anonymous
I mean, come on

Anonymous
I'm travelling 1000 miles and I don't even get to burn a calorie?

Anonymous
Fraud, I say.

You should seize the business opportunity to open an airline where the travellers can exercise onboard

3:30 PM
1000 miles, just drive!

use the power generated by their machinations to save on plane fuel

peddle faster for premium TV channels / bad wifi

@user1114 I cannot imagine that everything happens with zero input from the CMs.

Anonymous
You're right.

I mean, sure, there's been the occational case of OOOH SHINY

Anonymous
3:32 PM
I am hyperbolizing and the CMs have important input on things.

And that's unhelpful

hey
10(?) years ago, I had a conversation with my friend who brought up an idea to use criminals to work on human-powered electricity...

Figure that CMs have approximately as much influence within the company as we do within the community

I mean, you've worked for SE - you have certain insights that we don't

I bet Tim isn't loving his job right now
He has to field so many unpopular decisions and is eating ALL the flak for it

3:33 PM
And rants like this... man, we don't know if you're bitter or things are just messed.

hey
@user5389107 ToS, another ToS, yet another ToS, native ads?

Anonymous
It's probably 80% me.

yeah

2 hours ago, by Derpy
@TimPost Question: have you checked that you were indeed the one that pulled out the shortest straw? If I were you, I would check if some other staff member cheated in the drawing for the prestigious position of "ToS change manager" -_-'
@user5389107 ^

@user1114 and that's super useful context to consider

Anonymous
3:34 PM
@Shog9 and Shog gives a beautiful one sentence description that captures reality much better, as he does.

Anonymous
I do want to repeat that it's not cynicism about being laid off.

The text ad thing - which, admittedly, we need a better name for that - but the text ad thing isn't a terrible idea. It was a good idea when Google had it 20 years ago, and it's a good idea today.

@user1114 and that's why gets paid the medium bucks
@user1114 I'm not that convinced

@Shog9 Just make sure to distance it from native advertisement

Anonymous
I was skeptical of Stack as a company when I joined. I brought up some of these concerns when I was interviewing.

3:35 PM
To avoid getting raked over more coals

The problem with Google ads is that they mostly just make money for Google. But the idea of having informative bits of text instead of gaudy images... Yeah, that's nice.

hey
The text ad thing actually reminded of... how Google predicted the answer for some questions.

I think people are causticly cynical to the idea of ads being anything other then annoyances to be minimized

@Shog9 though, hopefully distinctish from core/user generated content

meh. as long as i don't see them, idc.

3:36 PM
Even with SE the best I usually hear is "they're not that noticeable, easy to ignore"

@user5389107 cause ad companies kinda ... go too far sometimes.

@JourneymanGeek yes, this is always important no matter what the content of the ads. No dark patterns.

Don't have to tell me that, I use ublock origin with the adblocker blocker blocklist and extra blocks
Almost anywhere non SE on any given website I block more then I load

hah
I kinda do... ublock origin + standard filters

@user5389107 umatrix. Block all by default. Enable domains one by one.

3:38 PM
ad blockers have gone from being sort of a guilty pleasure to a necessary evil. Ads have gotten to the point where they make sites dangerous and unusable.

As long as the intention is that the text ads are still managed by SO and are confirmed to be correct and appropriately representative... Then I don't see any issues with them. Click-bait, unhelpful text only ads would be bad.

hey
not sure if Chrome's native ad blocker is interfering other ad blockers or not...

@Catija unlike most places, depending how how its managed, you can probably get a human being to look at it
ah
I... run a unsupported browser mostly ;)

@Shog9 It's worse. Right now on sites where I don't know exactly that they're responsible, I have to block ads to not subject myself to serious security risks (that list contains currently SE and nothing else for me)

and once again...
Nov 15 '16 at 16:00, by Derpy
The day ADS will be legally required to be hosted by the hosting site instead that references to file on other servers I never asked to open and the hosting site will be legally required to ensure that they don't contain malvertising I will think about enabling them back. Not before.

3:39 PM
> Enjoying $.extend()? Try Extenze and scale your core infrastructure like never before!

hey
@JourneymanGeek Lynx? :O

It's literally neglegience for me as a sysadmin to not enable adblockers on company computers by default
3

@Derpy that's a high word-punctuation ratio

@hey vivaldi
I don't have it on this machine but being able to 'stack' tabs into a multipane window and having a mobile chat instance in a sidebar is nice.

hey
the joy of blocking 1000+ ads/"whatever" on YouTube...

3:41 PM
also does standard chrome extensions since its a chromium fork

@hey the only ads I see on youtube recently is them asking me how satisfied I am today and what I think about the homepage.
To which I keep replying "I don't need the video from [famous local youtuber that constantly uses offensive thumbnails for its videos] on the landing page"

hey
@Derpy maybe not ads, but there's 1 request/minute that's blocked by ublock on my tab now...
apparently YouTube's log_event...

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek I wouldn't be convinced, so that's fair. I say this is more of a regression back to my original opinion, now that I'm no longer being paid to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I may be misleading myself.

Anonymous
I don't understand where people are encountering particularly dangerous ads outside of porn and piracy. We aren't on Windows XP any more; it's not that easy to casually pwn people.

@hey Honestly ublock origin is the best security tool out there

By all means raise shields if you're venturing into the dark corners of the web, but for typical browsing? Just keep your system patched.

@user1114 once you've spent time filling the sausage, you'll never quite forget the smell of that natural casing, no matter how much you want to enjoy your breakfast.

@user1114 arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/01/… "Even credit reporting service Equifax was caught redirecting its website visitors to a fake Flash installer just a few weeks after reports of a data breach affecting as many as 145.5 million US consumers."

@user1114 with malvertizing showing up on places like the NYTimes homepage and other sites I consider it too important to leave to chance

@user1114 well, one dosen't typically walk around naked, since no one's shooting at you.

3:50 PM
also most ads are horrendously bad

the point of having adblock type things or AV is... you never know

The 00s called, they want their strobing ads back.

When walking through an area with active snipers... wearing a helmet and body armor is usually considered smart

Anonymous
@Catija @Mgetz That's kind-of bad, but would that actually hurt you if you hit it?

Anonymous
Are you going to run a random executable because a pop-up told you to?

3:52 PM
@user1114 ... many users would

... so... because I'm smart enough not to get hit... that makes it not a problem?

@user1114 There are definitely people in my company who would

Gotta disclaim my bias here: worked for one Google Ads team, interviewed for a Google Ads anti-malware team.

Anonymous
It's a problem, but for the most part it's being addressed by the people in the best position to address it. Google and Microsoft will both block malware links like that pretty quickly after they're deployed, most of the time.

hey
3:53 PM
Android.SE has many questions about malvertisement, unfortunately...

Anonymous
The window of exposure isn't huge.

I've ... worked with humans with computers

Anonymous
@hey Ah, fair. Android may as well have been designed to be hacked.

Anonymous
If you're on Android, maximum paranoia is warranted.

3:55 PM
@user1114 The fact of the matter is that google and microsoft have both served malware (albeit rarely) and not everybody uses them for ads.

I think SE uses google now
used to use adzerk?

Google doesn't create the ads, though... they still come from the SE system.

The point stands, because the incentives to do malvertizing is so insanely high the safest thing to do is block ads

Anonymous
The safest thing to do is bury your computer.

Anonymous
If you can't tolerate the infinitesimal risk of visiting a site with ads, stop visiting it.

3:57 PM
@user1114 The Air Force would arrest me if I tried to do that at the most logical place nearby... it's a controlled installation

Anonymous
@Mgetz Damn. Okay, I concede that doesn't sound safe.

:6971231 we'll agree to disagree, but please don't insult people for taking defensive actions

@user1114 or install software that takes some of the pain away

Anonymous
@Mgetz Defensive actions that compromise the business models of sites you apparently value enough to visit.

@user1114 tbf NORAD is only the hot backup these days
@user1114 as a user I have no obligation to support business models that encourage bad actors

Anonymous
3:59 PM
@Mgetz Correct. You are under no obligation to visit the site.

as a consumer I'm under no obligation to support any business model

oh, that reminds me... Air Force Academy graduation tomorrow. I get to stand on my deck and watch the Thunderbirds fly over!

@user1114 option 3: agressive adblocking

@user1114 Then put up a pay wall

These days, a site has to earn my consent to be advertised to

4:00 PM
@Shog9 They were practicing over me yesterday I think

yeah, all week

I'm in the DTC so I guess they were probably just turning around here

Anonymous
Paywalled, but note bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-03-03/… -- "Advertising’s share of GDP has remained consistent for 100 years".

Anonymous
But I know that moralizing doesn't actually change anything.

Anonymous
Anti-adblocking tech will eventually win the arms race, and anti-malvertising tech will improve, and the incentives will work themselves out from there.

4:05 PM
@user1114 I'm going to ask you nicely to please watch your language.
I'm not going to ask you again.
And if being here makes you so terribly unhappy, perhaps there are better places for you to be.

@user1114 So...back in the day, I actually didn't mind google's ads cause they were text only and didn't get in my way. And here's the thing - I've tried unblocking sites cause they asked nicely... and .... it was annoying.
I've ended up supporting places in other ways (buying merch for example - for webcomics)
Likewise, depending on whether I settle into this job or the next I might see if I can support a few sites over patreon, or in the case of tested, grab a subscription

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek That's a nice way to do it.

Advertising isn't the only model in many ways

... And if sites paywall or won't let me view content without disabling ad blockers... then I just go elsewhere if I don't want to pay.

@user1114 Sites I actually like earn more from me then I could ever pay them with ads

4:09 PM
yup

Youtube with Youtube red, for instance

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek It's not the only model, but it's the most viable model for a lot of people. The dream of low-friction ubitquitous microtransactions or whatever hasn't really happened yet.

@user5389107 I want to get youtube red for certain content
I can't

YT Red doesn't even work in my country

4:10 PM
^^^^

Anonymous
contributor.google.com was a really nice idea in that direction, though I don't know if the execution has been as successful.

and here's the thing

Anonymous
(Contributor essentially lets you bid against the ad slots on the pages you're seeing, to get an ad-free experience at the market rate. Sort-of. In theory.)

with newspapers you literally had two revenue streams upfront
ads and subscriptions

Anonymous
I'm not sure if physical subscriptions were profitable; I figured they were just to offset the delivery costs of the ads that actually funded the thing.

4:12 PM
there's a fair bit more options
and you can go "ok, most of our content is free, but you can get some extra stuff if you pay" for example
and while SE had a terrible time with the merch business, it works well for some other places

hey
Physical newspaper also filled with ads and classified

Anonymous
@JourneymanGeek stratechery.com is a nice example I subscribe to -- one free article a week, three paid, and the free one often trends enough to get subscriptions for the rest.

@hey my local newspaper has web only content, if you subsribe directly rather than through a vendor ._.
I mean even SE - has gone from a ads only model to also selling a 'premium' version of their service
(and from what I've seen of teams, it literally is a mini version of SE tucked inside SO)

Anonymous
It's very cool.

hey
Still wondering about the privacy and potential usage for crime of SOfT...

4:18 PM
@hey planning on running a team for drug smugglers? ;p
I think its about the same as SO though
if LE knows about it, and asks with proper documentation and cause...

Anonymous
The van attacker in Toronto last month was a programmer. I checked if he had a Stack account so I could ban him for murder, but he did not. (He did have a GitHub.)

hey
fair point... come to think of it, it's not that different than private groups on social messaging apps...

@user1114 we aim for a higher class of criminal here.

that's... not how it works?
I was thinking more DPR

Anonymous
Yeah, I know.

4:23 PM
Right. International smuggling ring / murder-for-hire kingpins, but not actual murderers.

On second thought, your tilting is kind of shady shog :P

and I'd be deeply uncomfortable with prying into a user's PII to work out if he's done some crime outside the network to ban him as a mod

@hey Physical newspaper ads didn't have video and sometimes actually served a purpose

and if local LE contacted me (how?) I'd refer them to SO Inc

@JourneymanGeek Doesn't sound like it'd be your job to do anyways
I imagine stack would want to evaluate and handle these requests itself

4:25 PM
@user5389107 no

@user5389107 same as with folks threatening suicide
we try to do triage, sure, but at the end of the day, we can't really handle it and need to pass it to a CM

Oh, seems like it's just a userscript... never mind.

TFW you get a reversal badge for asking for clarification on an announcement post

hey
Make Stack Exchange great again!... with userscripts

4:27 PM
Better Living Through JavaScript

@user5389107 I consider YT Red if it had more of the content I cared about, the issue is for me that the content I care about is spread over N sites with P price (it's all about 10-11USD/month) and I don't really feel like paying well over 1k a year for content

I love userscripts. :D

On that note, Stack is the only site I ever cared enough about to think about using userscripts for

I don't like the confusion they cause. :P

hah yup
@Catija also I run 3 different pcs for personal use and keeping them synced is a pain

4:29 PM
Amusingly, I didn't use any userscripts on SO for years... The page loads were fast enough that it was almost always faster to just do things the hard way. I mostly relied on userscripts for sites where the UI was both horribly broken and horribly slow... Y'know, ASP.NET 1.0 / classic ASP sites.

That said these days I don't participate enough anymore to have userscripts be useful to me

@JourneymanGeek I use two and my phone... but they stay updated automatically... so ...

There's not a lot that I can think of that'd be worth really sinking my teeth into on here

and how I use each system is different

What do you mean by that?

4:30 PM
this one's a netbook so basic browser with one site open at a time.
My main laptop multitasks better and has a better screen

Oh. I have a Windows machine at work and my Mac at home and... they're pretty much the same.

so I might do side by side.

People seem to have everything under control. There isn't really a niche for me to really make a difference in

Keyboard support in chat is a killer feature. And now I also use userscripts for mod tooling simply because the default UI is really decrepit

Home desktop's 2x 27 inch screens so... sometimes I go crazy

4:31 PM
Sure I could review my 40 in 5 queues every day on SO but that is a syssyphean task

YER a syssyphean!

I'm not cut out to be a moderator and all the things that'd really interest me are there
so ... meh

but yes, moderation - and thus review - is by nature a never-ending task. To be otherwise, we'd have to stop accepting new posts.

@Shog9 Someone take the whiskey away

(which is... something we talked about for quiet sites in lieu of shutdown at one point)

4:33 PM
I use something like three-four mod scripts.

taking whisky away? or stopping accepting new posts?

@Mgetz if you're in 'Springs, we'll have to meet up at the distillery 291 tasting room one of these days

@JourneymanGeek that would imply scotch, Whisky is scotch, whiskey is non-scotch

@Shog9 so... the cost of not having enough posts would be readonly mode?

more, the cost of not having enough active users to moderate posts would be readonly mode

4:34 PM
ah

On that note even charcoal has more then enough more enthusiastic and capable people then me these days

we started spec'ing that out once, but it got... complicated

@Shog9 as a person that works at a major multinational that makes AI software: AI ALL THE THINGS

eh...

tbf is that not what SmokeDetector is?

4:36 PM
smokey isn't AI
It's a very particular collection of users filters held together by spaghetti code

should it be? it wouldn't be hard to attach a callout of post content to a sentiment interpretation API (but this would require GDPR consent)

smokey is an admitted party spoiler as mentioned

@Mgetz You could bring that up in charcoal
I'm out of the loop these days

@user5389107 As an employee of a major multinational that sells AI software, I'm not actually sure I'm ethically allowed to under company rules

Anonymous
Doesn't Smokey already use some kind of sentiment analysis tool? I remember seeing a question about that in the Charcoal channel.

4:38 PM
If you're thinking about selling something, charcoal has (afaik) no income
so that's a dead end :p
@user1114 like i said, i'm out of the loop

@user5389107 honestly apply for grants, it's a good place to prove the technology
or get bought

should bring that to art or undo

@user1114 @PetterFriberg sometimes attended here IIRC. You may ask him.

I'm but a user in charcoal, you need to tell the admins that :p

hey
@Mgetz That's more of Heat Detector, not Smoke Detector
(on SObotics)
oops, I was wrong. Heat is for comment, Smoke is for posts. Both detect offensive contents.

4:46 PM
:6971637 Keywords are valid, my point is you can use AI and machine learning to potentially significantly streamline moderation and prioritize the worst posts for immediate action. Potentially before posting. Not only that but you can use things like sentiment analysis to give Shog and and the moderation crew(s) a heads up to incoming flame wars and heated tempers.
The theory is if I train the machine learning system to look for posts that have been closed for reason X, then it can keep an eye out for posts that might fit into category X
moreover you can create scores of how much it fits into category X, so if someone does flag it then it gets immediately closed

hey
I had the same idea for detecting "potential closeable questions", I even noticed SE did a competition for that

5:23 PM
I am not convinced that SE users would be really happy with moderation powered AI.

moderation powered AI?

Improvements for smokey using machine learning may be.

AI powered moderation might be better

Yup, something like this.

@πάνταῥεῖ The users will be fine. If something exists that can moderate better than users, we should investigate it and use it.

5:25 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ I don't think you could do moderation completely with AI

Pretty simple, really. The vocal minority doesn't matter much.

I think you could do AI assisted moderation
@Undo In that case no moderation!

?

@Undo The majority of users feel that the moderation of the site makes it extremely unwelcoming

Source on that?

5:27 PM
Twitter. LOL

So far, I've seen a couple Twitter rants and some meta folks used as sources. The majority of people just post their questions and get answers.
Or don't get answers and blame the system.

I am with you about that point.

Ya see, it's kinda hard. We're told that moderation is too harsh, but apparently not harsh enough.

Or rarely ask because they can search and passively enjoy the wealth of knowledge at their fingertips and no longer hidden beyond 20 obscure forum posts on websites with worse UI then you could possibly imagine

Bad experience is an extremely subjective thing.

5:29 PM
"Bad experience" often means "I posted a screenshot of my code four minutes ago and now the deadline is passed and no one submitted my homework for me"
4
Not always, but variations are disturbingly common.

Something like that, yes.

"I thought I could use this to avoid paying for a freelancer"

I think it's worth remembering - in any discussion involving Stack Overflow - that you can pull huge numbers for just about anything, and tiny percentages if you compare those numbers to total unique visitors / active users / questions posted / etc.

Stack Overflow has never been about everyone having a good experience. Right or wrong, that's been the policy decision for years and years.

@Undo twitter, reddit... the internet

5:30 PM
What was that with 120 serial voters a week? That's like less then 1% of active users :p

Numbers are meaningless unless you can pick an appropriate scale. Which is subjective, but do-able if you can agree on a goal.

@user5389107 I've asked three questions total, almost all of which should have originally been closed as "too specific" if we still had that close vote reason

@Mgetz Twitter and Reddit... aren't shining examples of reasoned discourse about nuanced issues.

@Undo The internet as a whole isn't really

It's really better to say nothing, even if asked for. It always comes up the completely wrong way:
@πάνταῥεῖ Your sarcasm is not needed here — Snorrlaxxx 19 mins ago

@Mgetz Indeed.

In that case I just stated a fact, no blink of sarcasm involved.

Don't be offensive. That doesn't mean never offend anyone.

@πάνταῥεῖ IIRC someone recently lectured me on assuming good intent... it looks like another case of that not happening
I could respond. but the site mods would smack me then

Flags are a wonderful thing.

@Undo I expect the flag would be declined for the same reason

5:37 PM
Then you get to make a decision about how important it is to you.

@Undo I'm a low rep user on that site, I keep my interactions to those that I know are clear, directed, and unlikely to draw ire

@Undo There will be always people feeling offended for whatever reasons. So the 'ole rule: _"If you can't say something nice ..." should apply. I failed that in the specific case it seems.

Flag anyway.

Anyone going to respond to my contact about why I keep getting "too many requests"?

5:39 PM
@πάνταῥεῖ were it my site, I would just nuke those last three comments.
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog Recycle your router?

Nuked mine now myself.

Flagging isn't just about getting accepted or rejected flags. It's about getting someone to look at a potential problem
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog you make too many requests

@user5389107 I use Nano Adblocker with Nano Defender, it works a lot better for bypassing those pesky prompts
@JourneymanGeek No I don't

We should have a Request Overflow site.
:3

More seriously - that seems odd and might be worth looking around your browser console

@Mgetz "and unlikely to draw ire" I've seen pukeing horses, believe me (dunno if that's the correct english sentence)

@πάνταῥεῖ not sure what you mean by that colloquialism

OK, I am looking for the english equivalent (may be something like "I've seen pigs flying in a frozen hell.")
The regular translation seems to be just simply "Nothing is impossible." But the connotation in the german "Ich hab' schon Pferde kotzen sehen." is way stronger (much like my pigs and hell example above).
Seems to be a nice question for SE german language ;)

@πάνταῥεῖ I'm not sure of any specific colloquialism for that in english, usually it would just be a deadpan "I've seen stranger"
Or the forest gump: "S$@# happens"

@Mgetz Probably "Even unlikely S$@# happens"

Q: Allow searching for employers that do not put mandatory arbitration agreements into their contracts

gparyaniYesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court dealt a massive blow to workers' rights, affirming employers' rights to enforce mandatory arbitration agreements in employment contracts. This means that if workers who are in such a contract disagree with some aspect of their employment, they have to do so in pr...

@πάνταῥεῖ nah we don't need the "Even Unlikely" it's implied

Ah, fine. The shorter, the better.
