Decred

Proposed Q&A site for users and developers of Decred: an open, decentralized, self-funding, and stakeholder-driven autonomous digital currency using blockchain technology.

Currently in commitment.

I am slightly annoyed.
Yeah... there's like... 8 of them either in beta or nearly there.

Been like that for a long time.
and I hope they will not update A51 to SE 2.0 in next few 6-8 weeks

ASAP = 6-8 weeks

@OptimusPrime Why would they do that? Last I checked, they have zero plans to update A51... ever.
05:28
that's right. why would they? no one's going to advertise on A51
06:16
IIRC Area 51 has a completely separate codebase which is modified in ways that are fundamentally incompatible with Stack Exchange 2.0 and would require a massive overhaul to match the rest of the network.

Q: Duplicates on meta sites - sum the votes

AdelinDuplicates are there mostly to tell us that a question was already asked and, in some cases, it also has an answer and to link to this question. A: Duplicates on meta sites - sum the votes

Sonic the Anonymous HedgehogI strongly support this. Take, for example, this feature request. By itself, it looks like a very old, outdated request from 2012 that may have since been implemented. As such, many people, including Stack Exchange employees, may overlook it. However, if you check the Linked section at the right...

moar drama?
oooh, Channel is coming... probably moar drama, though private...
14:53
It would be awesome to be suspended network wide due to being rude in your private channel.
15:03
Will channels pop up in the API? If yes, that smells of a data leak and a slight chance of confusing Smokey. If not, some userscripts may have a problem within channels.
I don't think it will, for now.
Considering the recent meta post related to "Public ...", I hope it's caused by adding an is_private flag on the DB...
so API and SEDE should respect the flag...
There was a tweet from Nick asking if 10,000 databases in a single SQL instance would be an issue so I assume they do a little bit more then just an is_private flag
.............................................. okay.
@SensibleAlexander still means they shouldn't export select * from sys.databases to SEDE

any way to have an url not being rendered as an url in a post?
I was editing a question, it makes sense to keep the url but there is no need for it to be clickable.
Escape it out with backticks?
What if you don't want it to render as code?
http://www.google.com
(bad trick though)
@rene schemas :P
alternatively, AFAIK, leaves the http(s) protocol, like www.google.com
15:34
@bluefeet clever!
bluefeet fever?
used the backticks option
@Derpy http:/<!--break url-->/nourl.com
@rene Invisible character works there

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog that will also work, my option is obvious for editors
@Derpy don't take that personally :p
user315433
@JohnDvorak Considering that the last public API release was in February 2014, despite numerous bugs uncovered since then... I wouldn't worry about Channels being added.
because it'd just add 1 new bug?

Why the disagreement over my answer?
Is there a way to get the custom navigation (from new-nav) tabs to work now that the nav is off? For example, I had a tab which was most voted in the past week. Can I somehow get that back?
@TravisJ By a user script?
How would a user script (which only modifies what you see after the server response) accomplish that? I was thinking more along the lines of a url query or advanced search or something?
19:31
@TravisJ this will do most voted since last week: api.stackexchange.com/docs/…

A: How to format reputation when Jon Skeet hits 1 million+ rep next year?

canonE Notation, imo... 1.23e6 ... and never worry about it again. Format string: {0:0.##e0} Alternatively: 1.23×106

that's an absurd amount of rep

rep scale could be logarithmic ...
@rene Thanks, but that seems like an excessive amount of work to get a simple list from, and I don't have the time to implement a viewer for the results.

@Dukeling now they're both laughing at you
This might seem like a naïve question, but if a user loses reputation on meta for posting an unpopular suggestion in an answer that gets downvoted, and then deletes and reposts the answer as a community wiki, what will happen? It seems like a net positive since they get the rep back, the vote score cleared, and subsequent downvotes don't make them lose reputation.
The answer in question isn't a bad, low-quality answer; just unpopular.
Aaah, meta. Not a big deal anyway
In my case, it's a net zero at the moment, since somebody upvoted it.
What I know is allowed is making an answer CW in the first place if you know it's going to be unpopular
People delete and repost all the time
Just reposting what someone else has deleted is being a jerk
Do as you wish.
Don't wish to conquer the world though.

The natural logarithm of a number is its logarithm to the base of the mathematical constant e, where e is an irrational and transcendental number approximately equal to 2.718281828459. The natural logarithm of x is generally written as ln x, loge x, or sometimes, if the base e is implicit, simply log x. Parentheses are sometimes added for clarity, giving ln(x), loge(x) or log(x). This is done in particular when the argument to the logarithm is not a single symbol, to prevent ambiguity. The natural logarithm of x is the power to which e would have to be raised to equal x. For example, ln(7.5) is...
Let's just format rep in binary.
@TelautonomousKitty But that's a valid way to represent it too
user202362
e is roughly 2.718281828459 based
@TelautonomousKitty But here "e" means "exponent of 10", not the constant e
user202362
23:51
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog it is but not 1.23 in front of it
user202362
In maths, e represents the natural log
Yah, it should be E
@M.A.R. For the lowercase e you can blame Apple, they had it that way in their iOS Calculator
Eating apple
The Windows calculator (since Windows 7) had it uppercase
@M.A.R. Look - as one who has just rejoined the SE community after (anonymously editing, but otherwise) lurking for many years, my perspectives are going to be different in several ways. One of those differences is that I don't think you should lose rep simply for suggesting an unpopular idea.
23:56
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog so your objection is against the whole rep system of meta.SE
Which I kinda agree with, and kinda makes sense
While I agree that voting is a good way to express agreement or disagreement with an idea (in fact, I helped publicize this as Ano), I think that makes much more sense on per-site metas, since no reputation is changing.
But it's one of those things too many people are used to and whose existence is not optimal, but getting rid of it is too much work
Yeah, you should lose rep from downvotes if the question is truly bad or low-quality
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog meh, it's just an additional number that goes up and down
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog and how do we tell if something is horse crap or just unpopular?
There's no systematic way to detect such things.
@M.A.R. For users who already have a comfortable amount of disposable reputation after surpassing 25k. For others, it sets you a few steps away from a privilege.
