Since I was looking up deleted users anyway, here are some stats for SO.

user315433
Top deleted users on SO, with total score of posts and the date of first and last one. (Only those with total score >= 5000.)

@Telkitty afaik this is possible with dev tools on Android (also some root add-ons). You can just configure location services to report a fixed location.

How did one manage to set empty username, I don't know.

@Desire I think there's a meta question on it

Hello everyone
I have a quick question. I noticed the post Is spam in the About Me field a reason to worry?, where Jeff said "If anyone has protips on what to search for to find accounts like these, I'm all ears."
I happen to have a suggestion to add to this matter, but that post was closed as Duplicate so no new answers can be added. Besides, I thought of answering the dupes the question point to, but one is also a dupe and answering in the other would not make sense at all given that question.
What can I do here? Should I write a Question mentioning this issue and answer it myself?
Thanks, trying to decide the proper way of action here
Another thing I thought is to answer in this question instead, as an alternative to what the OP proposes... which way would be better?

@GrayCygnus I guess one way could be to write a feature request where you link to the other questions and explain what you propose as a fix to fight spam. Do know that user profile spam isn't high on the list of things to fix so you better include lots of example user profiles for evidence this spam is more important then let's say question quality.

10:02 AM
@rene from what I see, @Gray has no idea how to "fix" this, but rather a tip how to find such spam profiles. IMO it's minor, we shouldn't spend much time on that.
This is all very old.... SE improved its spam fighting skills since then.

10:39 AM
Hmm, I didn't read that closely. Do what @ShadowWizard says @GrayCygnus ^^ (or really: Do Nothing)

If you suffer from bad credit, you have 3 options: do nothing

user315433
> 32% badness a lot less than Sturgeon's law, but we can probably do better. meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/318174/…

user315433
Sure. One easy way: when a question is just barely above the blocking quality score, it gets an automatic downvote from Community. Halfway between being blocked and being allowed without repercussions.

jaSO could in principle graduate (16 questions/day), but probably not with the current state of its meta, let alone the CM situation.

@Desire the CM situation is... tricky
Unless they have someone in mind and/or they can get along with google translate or the mods are fine with helping translate stuff
but we don't know the whole story sooooo
(all tha grand statergyish stuff ;p)

@rene thanks anyways for your response. one tries to help or at least try and seems that it is hard thing to do here :( probably just do nothing as it seems some users like shadow wiz are already conditioned to think that it will not work
Regardless of the intentions of the poster
Thanks again for your time @rene have a good one

@GrayCygnus I suppose part of the problem is there's no easy way to feedback profile spam without a post

Why are there no room owners for this room: chat.stackoverflow.com/rooms/info/150893/android-xinx ? They attracted a bunch of flags and most of the language spoken there is not English.

QUite a few mods will act on it if its obvious and they know - but you can't flag it, like smokey, and I don't think the API does it

11:59 AM
@JourneymanGeek maybe it is, but odeas are not to be thrown away like that, not even.giving it time to consider

@Desire also, more mature sites pretty rarely need CM intervention outside the really bad or odd stuff so it might not be that much of an issue. Something like a vote invalidation needs no translation?

"Help Vampires", that is what I think people call those users
@JourneymanGeek than you anyways

12:10 PM
And without any RO, nobody can assign new RO.
IMO the room better be frozen.

0_0
No tenure auto RO?

@JourneymanGeek no idea what that is

@ShadowWizard I was automatically made RO on root access cause the previous RO was inactive too long

@JourneymanGeek oh... probably the rules for this are so complicated it's broken in most cases.

amusingly I'm still an RO cause no one wants to remove me.

12:12 PM
(so you just had luck ;))
@rene see here, the room started as private non-English conversation between two users:
Later it was just "hijacked" by others.
If they want to create an alternative to the "Era" room... that's NOT the way.

@ShadowWizard Cody is there and I linked to that message you found.
thx

@SmokeDetector f
@SmokeDetector f
Those are not spam or abusive, just random trolling.

@rene not message, whole discussion.
I have no problem with two users chatting in their own language, but when they're done, better let the room freeze.

yeah, I think we can trust Cody, he likes chat a lot ;)

And room just to let users chat in their native language isn't good fit in SE.
@SmokeDetector k

@ShadowWizard yeah, agree on that

12:46 PM
@ShadowWizard the problem with non english stuff, even when sanctioned is there's a very small subset of people who can mod them

Recently renamed Bricks site is 6 years old today. Question of the year: How do I center a 2x2 plate on a 3x3 plate?

@JourneymanGeek well, when a room consists only of those, or mainly of those, no need to mod, just nuke the room anyway.

@ShadowWizard oh, more when it comes to flags and the like

If someone flags just because a message isn't in English it's wrong, and they should be warned, IMO. While not fitting, it's not worth flagging, unless of course it's offensive to begin with.

@ShadowWizard but if it is, its hard to tell

So mod can translate, then if offensive ban the author, if not then explain to the one who flagged it's not required to flag those in the future.

1:04 PM
say if its in tamil - there's 2 or 3 mods on the network who can read it, maybe, I donno 5-7 for hindi?
and you'd need to know what it is to know its offensive

dosen't always work well with bad hybrid mutant transliteration

If some indirect offense, like "Hope to see you drunk" then it's also not worth flagging.
I just had a discussion with @Mithrandir about it, still don't think it's offensive.

@ShadowWizard oh, don't worry. Not even calling users "mentally ill" is removal worthy. Have proof.

@TimStone This is relevant to SE Comment Link Helper: (I might suggest changing that to "https://" until it's fixed)

Q: Comment links starting with double slashes (//) doesn't show up in linked posts

DukelingIf the below, for example, is posted as a comment, the linked post doesn't show up in Linked in the sidebar. [Doesn't show up in linked.](//meta.stackexchange.com/q/3122) This seems like a bug.

Henry WH Hack v2.1I already acknowledge that Jeff Atwood's diamond was remove because he is on a break from the Internet and wanted his account un-modded for security reasons or so as described in this post. But it seems like one diamond was missed and that's the one on his Area51.Meta.SE also his account show up ...

^ nice trivia from an educational book about chocolate.
Reminds me of that Dora the Explorer episode that had Dora reaching Paris on a cruise ship.

3:27 PM
is there a functional difference between "on hold" and "closed"?
@Derpy Did you not see Speed 2: Cruise Control? Land is no obstacle for a cruise ship.

@canon no. "During the [on hold] period, the only difference is the temporary verbiage change; all the closing mechanics remain the same, so it still can't get new answers, etc." - Every “close” has its thorn: replace “close” with “on hold” for the first five days

@canon Yes. An edit during on-hold phase sends the question to Reopen queue (only edits to post body qualify, and only the first such edit).

@Desire calculus lectures shudder
I failed linear algebra II in uni because of a mix of the prof being unhelpful and me being too dumb

@Desire Students don't have to show up vaccinated?

I don't understand why societies with free access to vaccines allow unvaccinated people to show up to large public gatherings
That's not fair towards the people who have health issues that leave them suseceptible and they have no choice

@Andy - You rightfully (IMHO) deleted a post, but researching the post further reveals a problem.
This is the post in question: stackoverflow.com/questions/46921615/…
All of the other places where this is answered are pretty low quality.
I found one, low-vote answer that was actually a good answer.
And several places on the Internet where you'd expect good answers had fairly poor ones.

I kind of remember that post. What remedy are you looking for @Omnifarious? What would you like me to do?

I'm not sure. I don't think the problem can be solved by either of the exiting instances of the question I found because the answers they have that are low quality have vote counts that are too high to be overcome.
I just wanted to highlight the issue because I think it's probably not just that question. And for C++ I think it's especially acute because C++ has changed so much in the past 10 years. The low quality answers wouldn't have been low quality in 2009.

Good to know. I appreciate that. C++ isn't my area of expertise, so it's always helpful to learn more about problems particular tags see.

4:57 PM
I might try asking the question in a way that makes it clear that I'm looking for an updated answer.

user315433
@Andy They do. But the effectiveness is < 100%. All those who got mumps were in fact vaccinated.

5:39 PM
@Andy maybe I should stay out of this but I wonder why you landed on that question and then decided to delete it. Was it flagged or had it a toxic comment thread or so?

The original version is an exact copy of the duplicate.
It was flagged for that reason

Ah, that explains it.
sorry if this looks like I have doubts about your mod-abilities ... not meant that way.
