If one has N years of experience in the industry, they have a better idea of salaries than the model can give them. If the calculator diverges from their experience, the fault is likely with the calculator.

AFAIK, it's more about guilting employers into providing salary info in job ads than anything else. Because for some reason it's a controversial notion that folks applying for a job might want to know what they'd be making first. Or what the job actually entails.
