Q: Profile link not working for Area51 users in chat

Sagar VI recently tried to visit a person's profile from chat room. I clicked the link to his profile(points to area51) and the link is dead. The link points to discuss.area51.stackexchange.com and the link should be area51.meta.stackexchange.com (as pointed by Shadow Wizard in Tavern on meta). Thi...

Bad Idea of the Day: We all know the fundamental pattern of code reuse, also known as Copy&Paste. So, why don't we create an IDE plugin that maintains a trace of the source of the copied code and proceeds to update the copy every time the original is modified WITHOUT alerting the user?
Since we already have Resharper, a name like Recrasher may be an idea...

And I also wanted to know if tagging questions according to answers is allowed. I have seen this question. Is this allowed ?
At what circumstances, we can tag questions based on answers?

@SagarV cheers!
@cazc_941 well, admit I don't always listen, but it is far from annoying, please keep posting! :)
I give special credits to you in the post :-)

@SS there's another meta post on MSO, and the community seems to accept retagging based on the accepted answer, but still, the line is not clear.
@SagarV is is area51.meta.stackexchange.com now
@Oded it is a link from chat profile
an issue is raised in mse about this
this happens when their main profile is area51
13:08
Then whomever is on bug duty will see it and deal with it. There is really no need to ping me in chat about every single bug that is raised on MSE/MSO, @SagarV
6
I think you missed area51 links in chat while converting meta.x.se to x.meta.se
@Oded hmm. First I pinged you because I didn't really knew this is a link issue
Then shadow wizard told that it's a link issue
then only I raised issue there
First I think it is an issue with your certificate
I wasn't involved in any of that project (in particular not any of the URL rewriting). So I didn't miss anything. There are ~40 developers at Stack Overflow.
@SagarV Curious. Why haven't you pinged anyone other than Oded?
I really don't understand why you feel the need to ping me daily (if not multiple times a day).

Oded is always here

I guess I need to leave.
no don't go
oded, is there a magic link for site list

Then stop pinging me about every little thing that happens. There's meta. One opens bugs there. That should be enough - unless there's something urgent (which non of the things you have pinged me about are).

@Oded lolol that was funny.
@Oded the reason I ping you always is you are the only dev in SO I interacted multiple times(may be a 100) in MSO and MSE
I am not familiar with any others.
But you don't have to ping any SE devs after posting meta posts... unless it's very urgent.
user310756
@SagarV you are probably driving him crazy, as people like Oded are very busy
14:25
@Inc. No, I didn't pinged after meta post. I pinged him before meta post.
If this is a small issue, then I don't have to raise a meta post
but since shadow said that, it is a bug and then I raised it in meta
Even the smallest issue such as plural is always posted on meta.
@SagarV Everyone is busy and pinging them means, they'd have to drop whatever they are doing to investigate something you think is urgent.

@cazc_941 if I understood your concern... I think every site has to have 1 chat room for general discussion related to the topic ofthe site. However, users with enough privilege can create chat room under that site, if it's useful and still related to some discussion on the site (e.g. meta discussion, mod waiting room, specific event on the site, etc)

@cazc_941 I think it's up to their community & RO. If they're okay with it, then.. move on? But a new visitor might get confused and get into flagging spree, while RO says that it's not "off-topic", and come a drama.
The only time I've ever been confused about room topics is StackOverflow, since they don't seem to have a room for "General" discussion

Every word is
- a starter: b, p, d, t, k, g, m, n, f, ff, c, cc, s, ss, r, w, l, j, dss
- a vowel: a, e, i, o, u
- an ending: -, -n, -ñ, -tc, -ts
I have a bit of trouble with anything that suggests humans have inherent dignity
if you can put eyes on a new human and say without a trace of irony, "That's some dignity right there"... you may be confusing dignity with a different word, like "loud" or "afterbirth"
@bjb568 uhhh, okay. waiting for the dictionary
a words are interjections, pronouns, particles, tense markers, etc.
e are verbs
i are the doers of the verbs (1)
o are objects (2)
ui diphthong are the receivers (3)
u are some adverbs and phrase delimiter things
Grammar is (1)? TENSE+ V+ (2)? (3)?
@Inc. I'll publish it on github.

There, that's better.
Damned oxford commas.
19:08
I specifically edited in the oxford comma.
See above about inherent cruelty
Obviously it'll need some expanding.
lo kon is literally "liked need", but I'm just going to make it mean right. So some things are made by combining smaller things. I just need to figure out what base words I need to add.

@Shog9 (re: inherent dignity) Isn't that along the lines of the presumption of innocence. Especially when considering just any human, and even more so one just born, why shouldn't they deserve respect? I agree that they may not be composed, as is also a definition of dignity, but in general I believe that was regarding "the state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect" - in which case, don't we all deserve that until proven unworthy?
@TravisJ do we?
If we purport to be civilized or part of a society we do.
Or perhaps more to the point: is this an inherent trait, or something we must collectively agree on in order for it to be in any way true?
Yes, in that sense it is the latter.
19:35
I translated it as the latter, as in "everyone has somebody who likes them".
Morally though, which does play into the collective approach, it is the right way to go.
Don't get me wrong though, just because someone should start out deserving respect doesn't mean that is where they end up.
To put it another way... Do you, removed from society, from the company of other humans, have any inherent trait that might be recognized as dignity?
As compared to, say, a fox. Or a large rock.
I'm pretty sure I have shame, even in isolation
Yes, a rock, or even a fox, does not have compassion.
@Shog9 I cover myself
19:38
I can have dignity in isolation, but only because I'm taught about it as a social construct and in myself play the role of society.
scissors beats paper
@cazc_941 presumably, because you were raised in some type of shame-based religion
Hm, I take that back. Fox's probably are compassionate at times, but rocks certainly are not.
lol @canon
Why can't foxes, or even rocks for that matter, be dignified?
Lions have a dignified austerity, imo
19:40
We can assign them dignity, or a framework for which they can earn dignity, but unless they have the consciousness to apply it to themselves, they won't have it in isolation.
@TravisJ almost certainly not inherent
dignity endowed by druids
but those are some cool rocks though
would they be cool if they were still, uh, attached to one another and not cut from the place of their birth and wrenched out onto the plain to be erected, naked and unprotected, as a monument to a long-forgotten civilization?
Why?
How is that any different than altering the source of energy that we constantly use, powering the pixels of this text and the wires which carry the packets?

There's real honor in working from home, yes.

It seems that St. Baldrick's doesn't actually accept hair donations though. They will help you to remove the hair at an event, but generally they require you to sell your shaved hair to a third party and then donate the result. It seems that you could perhaps "cut out" the middle man? ;)
