> The Stack Overflow CSS sucks. We know it. We have an awesome design team that’s making huge strides in cleaning it up all around right now. -- Nick Craver at 6:43 AM - 9 Jul 2017

user315433
Hopefully this won't involve too many changes in HTML Id/class names, or they'll be a bunch of scripts breaking.

I guess they could keep the old classnames in the html but with no CSS rule? That is not really cleaned up but would prevent too much breaking changes.

user315433
2:52 PM
At least that explains the lack of new site designs... paying technical debt. They did it once with LESS conversion, wasn't that long ago.

user202362
any debt that doesn't requiring paying more for interest must be a good debt

3:27 PM
@Walt I think they're busy "cleaning up" CSS for years now. Really, they spent tons of work on converting everything to LESS, but looks like it just cause MORE work in the long run.

Yet again, infinite loop, as once they clean up something, new bugs and requests arrive, and they have to clean it again.

3:40 PM
Shog updated the new nav post stating that they won't be fixing any bugs. That's kinda sad, imo.
So the "clean it up" part of the loop ended.

user315433
That's what Shadow wanted...

@Shog9 "This project is on hold, please keep reporting bugs but do not expect fixes any time soon" is.

Ah, there's more history there.

All subreddits and all Quora sections have the same design... maybe stop bothering with designs and have one "graduated site" for everyone graduating from now on.

> Help $NEO devs get a storefront on stack exchange. Want to help $ANS grow? This is good way to do so! Sign up & RT - youtube.com/watch?v=0ZqsCUqu-uA … -- NEO News at 5:14 PM - 8 Jul 2017

user315433
They offer $1500 in total for Area 51 support.

user315433
"Stack Exchange is like a big mall"

user315433
Somewhat... and we know how well those are doing across the U.S.

user315433
They say $1500 comes from NEO developers' budget. The only thing I can't find out is what NEO is... no URL in Twitter bio. It wouldn't cost them 1500 to put one there. Anyway, here's the proposal:

NEO Blockchain

Proposed Q&A site for developers, educators, and users of the NEO blockchain, and all others interested in learning about this next-generation blockchain technology.

Currently in definition.

user315433
"200 Example Questions (73 closed)". Robert Cartaino went on a closing spree there yesterday, or they'd be in commitment phase already.

user315433
They don't seem to realize that this strategy is only getting them stuck in commitment phase, where they will not have enough SE-reputable users. Should be encouraging participation elsewhere...

user315433
Anyway, this is the first time I see anyone referring to an SE site as "storefront".

5:35 PM
Impulsely buying from SE

@ShadowWizard less is more after all ....

7:01 PM
@BhargavRao not relevant... new nav isn't made with CSS.
@rene more or less

@ShadowWizard Ah, I missed that, my bad. I wasn't aware that you were speaking only about CSS changes.

@BhargavRao yup, I was replying to @Walt who quoted @Nick saying something about the CSS. :)
@Walt maybe NEO is this phone?
The Neo 1973 (development code name GTA01) is an open source software and open source hardware smartphone developed by the Openmoko project to run the Openmoko Linux software platform, released 2007. The CAD files have been released in 2008 under a ShareAlike Creative Commons license, and the schematics are available for download from OpenMoko and Wikimedia Commons under a Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike license. == History == === Development === The Neo 1973 was designed as open source hardware and it is mostly using hardware components with open source drivers, The device is named after...

nope
@ShadowWizard it does seem to have become a lot more maintainable - at one point, every site had its own, mostly-unique CSS rules, meaning you might end up chasing a bug all over the network and still end up without it getting fixed on one site or another.

@Shog9 and now there are the same rules for all sites?

...harder to find clear information on something with like 3 different names.
@ShadowWizard there are still per-site customizations, but the bulk of the rules are the same.
nobody mention Area51. nobody mention Area51. nobody mention Area51...

7:13 PM
@Shog9 so it's about bitcoin... so why we need another site, when there is already one? Isn't it like proposing a site for C#, or Java?

@ShadowWizard nope
Unlike, say, Dogecoin (which got closed for this reason about a week ago), this appears to be something more than just "Bitcoin with a funny name"

@Shog9 no, I mean from what I read (not all, I admit) it's all about securing bitcoin.
Not about securing any virtual coin.

@ShadowWizard ?
I believe they have their own "coin"

> As a result, anyone trying to forge BTC transactions, or otherwise compromise the blockchain records, would have to outcompete all other miners and the energy they’re investing in keeping bitcoin nice and clean. According to the energy estimates stated above, this means that thanks to PoW, an attacker would have to invest the aggregated energy consumption of a small North-American city, just to enforce their will on the Bitcoin blockchain.
"bitcoin" clearly appears in all first paragpraphs there, and the rest just give more details.

@ShadowWizard this is describing how Bitcoin's "proof-of-work" system functions, for the purpose of contrasting Ant's alternative.

7:26 PM
I mean, no green idea what it's about technically, but it's about security and energy consupmtion of mining bitcoin. :)
@Shog9 oh
there's a dead link there: antshares.org
site down.

works for me

not for me. :(

Maybe that A51 proposal was so successful, millions of people overload their server right now. :D

Naw. Clearly this is a plot to keep your grubby fingers out of the tasty Ant pie.

7:29 PM
@Shog9 or my country finally got some sense and started blocking sites.
:D

user315433
How many active cryptocurrency proposals are there?

user315433
I suppose Augur counts, it's an Ethereum related thing.

user315433
Then iota and neo.

I wonder, will the autonomous cars in the future mine virtual coins while driving?

user315433
Then Blockchain technology in general...

7:32 PM
Looks like this is it. I count them as 4.

user315433
Someone proposed "Practical Cloud Computing" today, apparently considering the existing "Cloud Computing" proposal impractical.

@Walt or more likely never bothering to search for existing proposals.
So much time spent for nothing, poor soul.

user315433
> All that money tied up in Ethereum is scared right now. I know, I’m part of that crowd. Scaling issues, etc. They’re looking for reasons to diversify into alternative assets. Most of these ICO’s are not good long term investments. We want platforms, dammit. -- medium.com/@neochain3_66408/…

user315433
An interesting post there.

@Walt Practical Cloud Computing would be like Stack Overflow whereas Cloud Computing would be like NPR, programmers, Software Engineering.

user315433
7:39 PM
Or Theoretical Computer Science?
